Football Manager 27 is a broad systems upgrade rather than a single visual refresh. Sports Interactive is making the classic 2D match view easier to read, rebuilding the In-Game Editor as a full-screen tool, expanding inbox and staff guidance, adding more precise analysis, and revising competitions, scheduling and football-world data. FM27 launches globally on 10 November 2026, although the announced features and footage come from a development build and can still change before release.
What changes in FM27’s 2D Match Engine?
The top-down 2D view remains available for managers who prefer a tactical overview instead of a 3D presentation. The changes target readability without replacing its familiar visual language.

- Smaller ball and player discs: Reduced disc sizes should leave more of the pitch visible during crowded passages of play.
- Stronger ball shadow: A darker shadow is intended to make the ball’s position easier to track.
- Feet instead of arrows: Player discs use feet rather than the previous arrow treatment, giving movement a more grounded appearance.
- More transparent goal nets: Increased net transparency reduces obstruction when the ball reaches the goalmouth.
Sports Interactive says these adjustments respond to player feedback. They are presentation and legibility changes, not a claim that the underlying match simulation has been completely replaced.
How the FM27 In-Game Editor is different
The In-Game Editor becomes a full-screen experience with a redesigned interface. FM27 groups related information together, makes the active tab clearer and gives editable fields contextual explanations and tooltips. Important data is more prominent, so managers should need fewer clicks to find a value before changing it.
#1 Best Overall
- Choose a club and challenge that suits your ambitions and work with the club bosses
- As the first career station, choose one of over 2,000 playable clubs from more than 50 football countries
- Develop strategies, formations, and game styles for any situation to increase the chance of winning your club and get the three points
- The limited edition also includes instructions for tactics quick start in addition to the game
What that means for common edits
- Database and save-customisation tasks are organised into clearer groups.
- Tooltips provide context at the point where an editable field is selected.
- The publisher describes improvements to usability, performance and smoothness.
- A full-screen layout gives the editor more room than a compact overlay.
These are announced interface improvements, not an assurance that every edit is risk-free. Save a backup before making substantial database changes, particularly in a long-running career.
Inbox messages, reports and staff advice
FM27 makes the message centre a more active management workspace. Monthly reports now cover club finances, young players on loan, and board and supporter assessments. An end-of-season awards message highlights top performers, while the annual NXGN 50 list appears directly in the message body instead of requiring a separate detour.
Training, scouting and medical information
- Scouting progress can be viewed as a list or as cards that include player ratings.
- Fitness tests are consolidated into a single table.
- Training breakdowns return with quick controls for praise or criticism.
- Match-preparation types can be set directly from messages.
- Weekly training schedules can be edited from the relevant message.
- Staff-meeting suggestions are collected in messages and can be applied together or one at a time.
Concussion recovery
The Medical Centre now represents a concussion recovery protocol that requires explicit clearance from a neurologist before a player returns to action. Sports Interactive says this work was developed through conversations with the Professional Footballers’ Association. The requirement adds a formal medical gate to a decision that previously could be treated as a routine availability check.

More detailed transfer advice
During scouting and negotiations, the Director of Football provides deeper guidance on the proposed fee and payment structure. Advice also considers whether a signing fits the team’s Out of Possession role requirements, giving negotiations a stronger tactical context.
Rank #2
- ANYONE CAN PLAY: 100 Yards was designed for kids, but we have found that is loved by people of all ages. This game is great to keep your young kids up and engaged! 100 Yards is recommended for ages 6+, older kids (and even adults).
- GAME BOX INCLUDES 60 PLAYING CARDS AND 6 GAME PIECES: The 100 Yards Game box has 60 cards for game play, and 6 unique game pieces
- EASY TO LEARN: 100 Yards takes less than 5 minutes to learn. The goal is simple, beat other players to the 100 Yard Line (End Zone). A full game lasts 15 to 20 minutes, but people typically end up playing for much longer, either to rematch or to go for a dynasty. Game play involves simple addition and subtraction with some light strategy.
- FAMILY GAME NIGHT: 100 Yards is the perfect addition for your family game night especially if you have a wide age range of kids from ages 6+ to teenagers. Players and parents can compete against each other, as 100 Yards allows for up to 6 players per game.
- GAME DAY/TAIL GATE: Are you gearing up to watch a Professional or College Football game? 100 Yards will get your entire household in the mood. The game box is portable and can easily be set up for home play or be conveniently carried to other locations.
Data Hub and match analysis upgrades
The Data Hub feeds more findings into FM27’s messages, linking preparation advice to match evidence. Eight per-90 metrics receive additional decimal precision:
- xA per 90
- Dribbles per 90
- Shots on target per 90
- Open-play key passes per 90
- Chances created per 90
- xG per 90
- Non-penalty xG per 90
- Key tackles per 90
The Out of Possession Defensive Actions calculation now counts fouls. Passing analysis is also grouped into Short, Medium and Long categories, with both completed totals and success-rate percentages. That combination gives managers more precision without forcing every decision into a single headline statistic.
Match-day presentation and management conveniences
Several small changes are designed to make matches and routine administration feel more responsive.

How much deeper is FM27’s football world?
Sports Interactive reports more than 18 million database changes and 1,500 competition updates, both figures attributed to Sports Interactive in 2026. The scope reaches beyond player ratings and club details.
| Area | FM27 announcement | Why it matters in a save |
|---|---|---|
| Licensed leagues | Two new licensed leagues | More playable and authentic domestic environments |
| Home nations | Northern Ireland and Wales restructures incorporated | Promotion, relegation and league structures better reflect the revised systems |
| South America | New cup competitions in Chile and Peru | Additional domestic objectives and fixture paths |
| Women’s football | Swiss-style women’s League Cup formats in England, France and Japan | More varied cup scheduling and competition formats |
| Continental football | Continental and qualifying competitions updated in North America and Africa | Qualification routes and continental calendars are more current |
| England | Revised work-permit rules, including an Under-23 limit for Elite Significant Contribution permits | Recruitment planning must account for age as well as contribution eligibility |
| FIFA-governed women’s competitions | At least two female backroom staff, including one Head Coach or Assistant Coach, required under FIFA’s new Women’s Football staff mandate | Staff structure becomes a compliance requirement for affected teams |
Fixture scheduling receives rule-specific fixes
FM27 revises scheduling to better reflect competition regulations and real-world constraints. Announced examples include restrictions around UEFA Champions League draws, avoiding simultaneous home fixtures for same-city English clubs, adherence to Bundesliga television slots, and preventing MLS teams from playing the same opponent in back-to-back games. Other country-specific corrections are also included.
These changes should reduce implausible calendars and conflicts, but the exact behaviour can still change before launch because the material shown so far comes from a development build.

Football Manager 27 launches worldwide on 10 November 2026.
| Edition or platform | Announced availability |
|---|---|
| PC | Steam, Epic Games and the Microsoft Store on day one |
| Console | FM27 Console for Xbox and PlayStation 5 |
| Mobile | FM27 Mobile through Netflix |
Sports Interactive says further platform details will follow. The launch information therefore confirms the listed day-one versions but does not establish every edition, regional restriction or final feature parity between platforms.
Is FM27 a big upgrade?
For a returning manager, the upgrade is most noticeable in six areas:
- Readability: The 2D view changes ball visibility, disc size and goal-net obstruction.
- Editing workflow: The full-screen In-Game Editor should make frequent changes easier to locate and understand.
- Inbox usefulness: Reports, staff suggestions, training controls and transfer guidance move more decisions into one information stream.
- Analytical depth: More precise per-90 values, foul-inclusive defensive actions and short/medium/long passing splits add granularity.
- World realism: Millions of database changes, competition revisions and scheduling fixes affect the shape of a long save.
- Availability: PC, console and Netflix mobile versions are planned, with additional details still pending.
That makes FM27 a quality-of-life and immersion upgrade across an entire career rather than a release built around only the 2D match engine. Because the build is pre-release, visual optimisation, user-testing feedback, licensing approvals and final platform specifications may alter what ships on 10 November.
