Flipkart and agency 22feet have recast appliance exchange as a playful farewell: their Big Billion Days campaign imagines a fictional “Home for Old Age Appliances” where long-serving household machines can retire. The idea is a campaign, not a real facility. The reports mention an exchange bonus during the sale but do not state its amount or the offer’s eligibility rules.
What is the “Home for Old Age Appliances”?
“Home for Old Age Appliances” (HOAA) is the central fiction of Flipkart’s latest Big Billion Days sale film, created with 22feet, part of Omnicom Advertising India. The campaign gives appliances personalities and routines, using humor to make exchanging an old product feel less like discarding it and more like giving it a fond send-off. Campaign Brief Asia and Indian Television Dot Com describe the concept as a fictional space, not an appliance-care, repair, or retirement service.

The creative prompt, as reported by Campaign Brief Asia, was: “if these appliances have spent years taking care of our homes, what would a home made just for them look like?” 22feet’s Chief Creative Experience Officer Vishnu Srivatsav said the team saw that people can feel emotionally connected to appliances and hesitate to upgrade. That is the campaign’s stated creative insight, not a measured finding about Indian consumers.

The film’s premise extended into a Mumbai experience at North Studio on October 3 and 4, 2026. Reports describe themed spaces that turned appliance quirks into activities:

- Laptops had a yoga zone.
- Mixers had a space where nobody asked them to lower their voice.
Visitors could pose for photographs and take away a keepsake. These were details of an experiential campaign activation, not services offered to appliance owners.

Potli Baba Mediahouse and Beliappa M are listed for production, Anant Sharma for direction, and Experimental Much and Neharika Sadotra for the experiential activation.

What the campaign says about the exchange offer
The campaign reports say Big Billion Days shoppers could receive an exchange bonus in addition to the value of their old appliance. They do not publish the bonus amount, qualifying models, sale dates, service coverage, or complete terms. The campaign should therefore not be read as a promise of a particular saving: check the live listing for the replacement product and location before relying on an offer.

How Flipkart has described appliance exchange in earlier announcements
Flipkart’s September 20, 2025 announcement describes a process in which the customer chooses an eligible new product, enters the old product’s brand, model, and condition, and sees an initial exchange value applied to the purchase. At pickup, the old appliance is inspected; Flipkart says the final value is confirmed after inspection and customer approval by OTP. In that 2025 announcement, Flipkart listed selected categories including mobiles, laptops, refrigerators, washing machines, and small appliances. It gave cross-category examples: an old refrigerator exchanged toward a washing machine, or a fan or microwave toward a water purifier, chimney, vacuum cleaner, geyser, or juicer mixer grinder. The live exchange-store page also lists TVs, refrigerators, mixer grinders, ceiling fans, and microwave ovens. Availability and eligibility depend on the current product listing and its terms. What happens to an exchanged appliance?
Flipkart’s June 26, 2023 announcement about its program for non-functional appliances, smartphones, and feature phones said items could be collected at the customer’s doorstep and handled by authorized vendors for refurbishment, recycling, or responsible disposal, depending on condition. In its 2025 announcement, Flipkart separately said it partners with certified e-waste recycling agencies. Those statements describe programs and practices Flipkart announced on those dates; they do not establish that every appliance exchanged under the 2026 campaign will follow the same route. The 2023 announcement quoted Ashutosh Singh Chandel, then Flipkart’s Senior Director and Business Head, Re-Commerce, citing a MeitY policy paper: India generated 3.2 million tonnes of e-waste in 2019, and 10 percent was collected for recycling. These are historical figures attributed by Flipkart to that paper, not current estimates.
