The five metrics below offer a practical way to review your well-being over autumn. They should be described as personal experience only if they match the author’s actual tracking and notes; the available evidence does not establish that tracking them improved anyone’s well-being.
What the Charge 6 can—and cannot—tell you
Google’s Charge 6 feature overview describes a tracker that records activity, sleep and heart-rate data, estimates blood oxygen during sleep, and supports stress-related features. Its collected health data also includes HRV, resting heart rate and skin-temperature variation, though access to some app vitals depends on region. Some features require the Google Health app or a paid subscription; the device requires a Google Account and internet access. Check current availability for your region and account before relying on a particular metric.

These five readings are most useful as prompts to notice patterns—not as diagnoses or universal targets. Google cautions that heart-rate accuracy is affected by physiology, device position, movement and activity. Wear the tracker consistently, and interpret changes alongside how you feel and what else is happening in your life.

Google says the nightly sleep score draws on heart rate, time asleep and restlessness. It condenses several sleep-related signals into one number, but it is not a complete clinical evaluation of sleep. A shift in the score can be a reason to look at the night’s supporting details rather than a verdict on whether you slept well.

In the redesigned app, sleep details, the score and supporting metrics are in the Sleep tab. App layouts can change, so use the current tab names rather than older screenshots.
2. Heart-rate variability: look for your own pattern
Heart-rate variability (HRV) is the variation in timing between heartbeats. Google includes it among Charge 6 health data and uses it, together with sleep and resting heart rate, in its readiness calculation. There is no single HRV target that suits everyone: a personal trend is more meaningful than comparing your number with another person’s or treating one night as a conclusion.

3. Resting heart rate: context matters more than one reading
Google defines resting heart rate as your heart rate when you are well-rested, relaxed and not physically active. A change can be worth noticing, but readings vary between individuals and should be considered with your own baseline and circumstances. The wrist measurement is not exact in every condition, so avoid reading too much into a single day.

The Charge 6 data inventory includes skin-temperature variation. Treat it as a trend in skin temperature, not a direct core-body-temperature measurement or a way to diagnose illness. Google’s 2026 app redesign notice says minute-by-minute skin-temperature data is no longer available in the mobile app, while daily and weekly trends remain. See Google’s redesigned Google Health app notice for the described changes.

5. Sleep SpO2: an estimate during the night
Google says the Charge 6 uses sensors to estimate blood oxygen saturation while you sleep. The key word is “estimate”: this is not a diagnostic blood-oxygen reading. Treat it as one piece of information from sleep tracking, not a substitute for medical assessment.

Give readiness time to establish a baseline
Google’s readiness guidance says the app needs seven nights of sleep wear before it can provide an initial readiness score, and recommends consistent wear for a month to build a fuller personal baseline. The score ranges from 0 to 100: Low is 0–29, Moderate is 30–64, and High is 65–100. These are Google’s product categories, not clinical thresholds.

Readiness combines HRV, sleep and resting heart rate. Use it as a summary alongside the underlying measurements and your own sense of recovery, not as a replacement for either.

Review trends alongside daily context
- Wear the device consistently so that comparisons are based on more than occasional readings.
- When a metric shifts, consider sleep, activity, stress and other relevant context rather than assuming the tracker has identified a cause.
- Use a persistent concern or symptoms—not a wearable score alone—as the reason to seek appropriate medical advice.
Check the current app and feature availability
Google’s app redesign notice says Fitbit Premium became Google Health Premium on May 19, 2026. It also says stress-check graphs were removed from the mobile app, while Scan Quick Reset remains available on Charge 6. For supported features and current navigation, consult the Charge 6 overview and the app-change notice; availability and presentation can vary by region and app version.
