Fisher & Paykel lists maximum air movement of 780 m³/hr. Treat this as a published manufacturer specification, not a result measured in an independent test. The available evidence does not establish extraction performance or sound levels under comparable real-world conditions, so it cannot support a claim that this model is especially powerful or quiet relative to other hoods.

The run-on timer is described as operating for up to 15 minutes. That feature does not establish how quickly the hood clears cooking odors; results depend on the installation, duct route, room and cooking conditions.
Will it fit your cabinetry?

A preliminary Fisher & Paykel guide dated 28 November 2022 gives a standard cutout of 800 × 260 mm, but it explicitly says it is preliminary and not installation guidance. Do not use that opening size—or the guide’s clearance figures—to plan or perform current work. - Measure the available cabinet space and compare it with the current installation guide, not just the appliance’s outside dimensions.
- Confirm the planned duct route, outlet diameter and required ducting components with your installer.
- Check clearances against the current instructions and the requirements that apply where the appliance will be installed.
- Verify the exact model and compatible parts for your country and production version before ordering.
Ducted or recirculating: choose the installation route
The product page lists top ducted extraction and optional top extraction for recirculation. Ducting can be routed through separately sold eave, roof or side-wall kits, depending on the layout. For recirculation, Fisher & Paykel identifies carbon filter part 793599 as a separate purchase. Before choosing, have the installer assess the route and the parts needed. A recirculating setup is not simply the same as an outside-vented installation without a duct: it requires the specified carbon filter. The appropriate option depends on what your kitchen can accommodate and the installation instructions for your market.
Controls, lighting and upkeep
The listed controls give you three regular fan speeds and a boost setting. The LED strip is dimmable, and the run-on timer can keep the hood operating for up to 15 minutes, according to Fisher & Paykel. SmartHQ filter notifications offer a maintenance reminder; they are not a measurement of filter condition or proof that a filter has been cleaned.

The quick reference guide lists two aluminium mesh filters, while the manufacturer describes them as dishwasher-safe. Follow the current user guide for cleaning and reinstallation instructions. If you select recirculation, check the instructions for the additional carbon filter and its replacement requirements rather than assuming the mesh filters are the only maintenance item.

How to decide whether it suits your kitchen
The HP90IDCHX4 is a plausible option if you want a 90 cm insert hood and your cabinetry and ventilation plan match the current installation requirements. The available information documents useful control, lighting and filter features, but it does not establish independent extraction or sound performance. If those are decisive, seek comparable independent measurements for the models you are considering.
For a fair comparison with another 90 cm integrated hood, check the same practical points rather than relying on headline airflow ratings alone:
- Overall appliance dimensions and the cabinet opening required by the current installation guide.
- Whether ducted or recirculating installation is supported, and the cost and availability of the required filter or ducting parts in your country.
- Independent extraction and sound measurements taken under comparable conditions.
- Controls, lighting, filter-cleaning instructions and maintenance reminders.
- Local installation guidance and replacement-part support.
No specific direct alternative is established here for a model-to-model verdict. The key purchase check is whether an installer can confirm fit and a workable ventilation route for your kitchen.
