The Fisher & Paykel CI604DTB3 is a 60 cm, four-zone induction cooktop with a bridge function, touch controls and a documented 30 A electrical draw. Its feature list is clear, but its public independent-review evidence is not: CHOICE marks it discontinued and restricts its test scores and findings to members. This is therefore a specification-led review, not a claim of hands-on testing or a public performance verdict.
What is the CI604DTB3?
The CI604DTB3 is a black-glass Series 9 Contemporary induction cooktop. Fisher & Paykel’s model-specific documents list four cooking zones, each rated at 2100 W, with PowerBoost ratings of up to 3700 W. These are manufacturer specifications, not independently measured cooking results.

CHOICE’s public page lists four zones and a 7 kW maximum output, identifies the model as discontinued, and shows a test year of “2023 or earlier.” Its expert rating, cooking and ease-of-use scores, boiling time, reliability, satisfaction, pros and cons are member-only, so they cannot support a public verdict on how well this cooktop performed. CHOICE’s CI604DTB3 page lists $2,199, but that is not a current quote.
Can it bridge two cooking zones?
Yes. SmartZone links two zones so they can be controlled as one cooking area, a layout intended for larger pans and griddles. The manufacturer’s quick reference guide describes this flexibility; it does not establish how evenly or quickly a particular pan will heat. Check that the cookware’s base suits the bridged area and follow the operating instructions.
#1 Best Overall
- HIGH EFFICIENCY - ChangBERT Induction cooktop offers 9 preset power levels (200-1800W) and 18 preset temperature settings (120-460℉, 20F per level). With an 83% energy efficiency rating, the induction cooker is more efficient than traditional gas or electric stoves, providing quick heat-up and faster cooking times.
- CONSISTENTLY STABLE HIGH-POWER OUTPUT - Built for constant use, it features continuous-duty circuitry for non-stop cooking. The unique power control technology ensures stable high-power output, reduces the temperature of internal electronics, and facilitates low-noise heat dissipation, providing reliable cooking performance. This dependable performance sets it apart from others.
- LARGE COOKING AREA - Features an expanded magnetic coil design that optimizes the winding structure to enhance the transfer of electromagnetic energy directly to the cookware, significantly improving heating efficiency and ensuring more even heat distribution across the bottom of the cookware.
- NSF CERTIFIED & COMMERCIAL GRADE - UL commercial standard 197, completely ETL & NSF approved. It meets industry durability standards, passing a drop test with an impact of 1.5 ft lbs. Designed for large-volume usage, it is ideal for commercial and professional settings such as restaurants, industrial kitchens, and other catering services.
- EASY TO CONTROL & CLEAN - The control buttons with solid tactile response make operation intuitive and precise. With simple and clear display, the Key-Press-Control Panel provides clear visibility and easy control, even with gloves or wet hands. With no open flame or heating element, food does not burn onto the glass cooktop, making it easy to clean greasy dirt.
Controls, heat settings and timers
The product documents list Touch&Slide controls, nine heat settings, two GentleHeat settings, auto heat reduction, individual zone timers and PowerBoost. Together, these provide a range from lower-heat operation to a temporary high-output mode. The feature list alone does not show how responsive or precise the controls feel in use.
Fisher & Paykel’s 2016 user guide also lists whole-cooktop energy consumption of 191 Wh/kg for the CI604DTB model family, measured under the European electric-cooking standards cited in that guide. The table identifies the family as CI604DTB, not the complete CI604DTB3 suffix. This laboratory-style figure is not annual household consumption or a bill estimate.

- Choose from 20 preset power levels (100 to 1800 W) and 20 preset temperature level settings (100 °F to 460 °F). With an 83% energy efficiency, induction burner is more efficient than traditional gas or electric stoves
- DIGITAL LCD SENSOR: Touch control panel: child safety lock keeps the cooking and timer settings from being accidentally changed once they have been set; fast boil button; keep warm button (for 1-30 minutes at 140 °F); up to 10-hour timer button
- Induction stoves rely on cookware to heat, so it’s essential to choose magnetic bottom cookware with a minimum diameter of 5 inches. Auto-pan detection will shut off automatically after 60 seconds if no cookware, or the incorrect cookware is detected
- Although induction itself is a noiseless process, there may be high pitched sounds from the cookware due to multiple layers of metals sandwiched together. Please allow the induction cooker to cool down before cleaning
Safety features and care
The documentation lists pan detection, a keylock, safety timeout, spill auto-off and hot-surface indicators. Induction heats cookware rather than using a conventional exposed element, but the ceramic glass can still be hot from contact with hot cookware or residual heat. Do not treat the surface as cool simply because induction is used.

Dimensions, cutout and electrical installation
Fisher & Paykel’s model-specific documents give overall dimensions of 600 mm wide, 530 mm deep and 49 mm high. CHOICE lists an installation cutout of 560 × 490 mm. Treat the cutout as a planning reference, not a substitute for the official installation guide: clearances, countertop construction and cabinet layout matter.
The product documents specify a 30 A draw and a 220–240 V supply. Those figures do not establish that an existing circuit is suitable. Have a qualified local installer check the exact installation instructions, supply, clearances and regional electrical requirements before installation. The retailer listing also describes the connection as hardwired and requiring a qualified electrician.

Availability, warranty and accessory
CHOICE labels the CI604DTB3 a discontinued model. That does not establish that every unit is unavailable: local stock, used units and remaining inventory can vary, so verify condition and availability in your market. CHOICE lists a two-year warranty and Thailand as the country of origin; confirm warranty terms and regional coverage with the seller or manufacturer.
For a configuration that joins two cooktops, Fisher & Paykel lists joining strip part 534731. Confirm that the strip suits the installation and is currently available before relying on it. The manufacturer’s 2019 specification sheet and 2020 quick reference guide provide model-specific details, including installation-document references.
Who should consider it?
The CI604DTB3 may suit someone seeking a four-zone induction layout with a two-zone bridge, multiple heat settings and timers, provided the installation is compatible and a unit is available from a dependable seller. The available public evidence is not enough to recommend it on measured cooking performance: CHOICE’s relevant scores and findings are not publicly visible. If comparing it with another cooktop, weigh zone layout, bridging, low- and high-heat features, dimensions, electrical requirements, warranty and current parts availability rather than assuming a performance advantage.
