Fisher & Paykel CI604CTPB1 Review: Specs, Fit and Electrical Checks

The Fisher & Paykel CI604CTPB1 is a four-zone, 60cm induction cooktop specified for a 230V supply, 19.1A rated current and 4.4kW maximum power. It may suit a replacement where a lower-current induction model is needed, but “low current” is not a guarantee that it will work with your existing wiring. The manufacturer’s Australia product page marks it “OUTGOING,” so check stock and any successor in your market before deciding.

This is a specification-based review of Fisher & Paykel documentation, not an independent cooking test. The documents describe its controls, zones and safety features; they do not establish real-world cooking speed, noise, durability or comparative performance.

What is the CI604CTPB1?

The CI604CTPB1 is a Series 5, 60cm induction cooktop with four cooking zones and nine heat settings. Fisher & Paykel positions it as a low-current option for replacing a gas or ceramic cooktop. That positioning is useful context, not a promise that the unit will fit an existing bench cutout or connect to a particular home circuit.

The Australia product page labels the model “OUTGOING.” That is a regional status, not proof that the product is unavailable everywhere or that a particular successor exists. Confirm current local stock and replacement options before planning a purchase.

How are the zones and controls laid out?

The four zones have two power levels, depending on whether PowerBoost is used. The 2025 Fisher & Paykel Quick Reference Guide gives these ratings:

Zone Regular rating PowerBoost rating
Left front 2300W Up to 3000W
Right rear 2300W Up to 3000W
Left rear 1200W Up to 1400W
Right front 1200W Up to 1400W

The guide lists Touch&Slide and soft-touch electronic controls, nine heat settings, GentleHeat, PowerBoost, a minute timer and automatic shutoff timers for each zone. These are documented features; the available manufacturer material does not independently measure how quickly the cooktop heats, how evenly it cooks, or how useful its low-heat control is in practice.

Will it fit an existing cutout?

The manufacturer lists overall dimensions of 600mm wide × 530mm deep × 61mm high. A preliminary specification guide dated 2023 lists a nominal cutout of 560mm × 490mm, but explicitly warns that the preliminary guide is not installation guidance. Do not use those preliminary cutout figures alone to approve a replacement.

Duxtop Portable Induction Cooktop, Countertop Burner 1800W Silver 9600LS
  • PORTABLE INDUCTION BURNER: Duxtop induction cooktop uses 110/120 V 15 amp electrical outlet–standard in all North American homes. ETL listed and built to North American electrical standards. It is lightweight and compact for easy handling and storage
  • Choose from 20 preset power levels (100 to 1800 W) and 20 preset temperature level settings (100 °F to 460 °F). With an 83% energy efficiency, induction burner is more efficient than traditional gas or electric stoves
  • DIGITAL LCD SENSOR: Touch control panel: child safety lock keeps the cooking and timer settings from being accidentally changed once they have been set; fast boil button; keep warm button (for 1-30 minutes at 140 °F); up to 10-hour timer button
  • Induction stoves rely on cookware to heat, so it’s essential to choose magnetic bottom cookware with a minimum diameter of 5 inches. Auto-pan detection will shut off automatically after 60 seconds if no cookware, or the incorrect cookware is detected
  • Although induction itself is a noiseless process, there may be high pitched sounds from the cookware due to multiple layers of metals sandwiched together. Please allow the induction cooker to cool down before cleaning

Have an installer compare the current installation guide with measurements of the actual bench opening, clearances and surrounding cabinetry. An appliance with the right nominal width may still require changes if the cutout or installation conditions differ.

Can you use your existing wiring?

The specified electrical supply is 230V, rated current is 19.1A and maximum power is 4.4kW, according to Fisher & Paykel’s Australia product specifications. Those values describe the cooktop; they do not establish the capacity or suitability of your home’s circuit, wiring, isolation or connection point.

Fisher & Paykel cautions: “Specific electrical situations may vary. Please consult with a licensed electrician.” Have a licensed electrician assess the installation rather than treating “low current” as a circuit certification or assuming the connection used by the old cooktop can be reused.

What cookware works with it?

Induction requires compatible cookware: the cooktop detects a suitable pan before heating a zone. Cast iron and magnetic stainless steel are common examples, but check your own pans rather than assuming that all stainless steel or cookware used on a gas or ceramic hob will work. The product’s pan detection supports compatibility checking; it does not mean you must buy new cookware if your existing pans are induction-compatible.

Fisher & Paykel says induction heating occurs when cookware is detected on the ceramic surface. The cooktop also has hot-surface indicators, so do not assume the glass cannot retain heat after cooking.

Is the CI604CTPB1 a good buy?

On paper, it is a clearly specified four-zone induction cooktop with Touch&Slide controls, separate zone timers and a mix of regular and boosted zone ratings. Its strongest case is for a buyer whose installation, electrical supply and cookware are confirmed compatible and who can obtain the model locally at an acceptable price.

The evidence available here is manufacturer documentation, not an independent hands-on review. It does not establish cooking speed, noise, reliability, durability, efficiency in use or how the CI604CTPB1 compares with competing cooktops. The Australia product page displayed AUD $1,299 and “OUTGOING” when checked in 2026; both price and availability can change, and that listing does not establish current pricing or stock in another market. No successor model is confirmed by the cited product information.

What to check before buying

  • Confirm the CI604CTPB1 is currently available in your country and verify the seller’s price and warranty terms.
  • Ask a licensed electrician to assess the 230V, 19.1A-rated, 4.4kW specification against your installation.
  • Use the current installation guide and professional measurements to confirm the cutout and required clearances.
  • Check that your cookware is induction-compatible before budgeting for replacements.
  • If cooking speed, noise or long-term reliability is decisive, seek independent comparative evidence; manufacturer specifications do not answer those questions.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
