The first gameplay trailer for Angelfall introduces a reverse-horror roguelike in which you play the threat humanity is trying to stop. As a powerful Archdemon, you cut through human and holy-warrior forces, harvest their Souls and assemble a new combination of abilities during each run. The game is still listed as coming soon on Steam, so the trailer is a gameplay reveal rather than a launch announcement.
What is Angelfall?
Angelfall is a single-player action roguelike from The3rd.One Games, published by The3rd.One Group. Its central idea is a role reversal: instead of defending people from supernatural attackers, the player controls the Archdemon that humanity fears.

The trailer presents the Archdemon as an aggressive, high-powered combat character rather than a vulnerable survivor. Human troops and holy warriors form the enemy forces, turning familiar “defend the innocent” imagery into the opposition the player must eliminate.
Souls drive run progression
Defeated enemies provide Souls, the resource used to make the Archdemon more dangerous during a run. Progression is not limited to a fixed level-up path. Players choose abilities, reroll unwanted options and look for combinations that reinforce a particular build.

Builds are assembled from several systems
The store material identifies skills, runes, passives and specializations as parts of the build system. The important distinction is that these elements are intended to interact. A successful run depends on finding useful synergies rather than selecting isolated upgrades with no connection to one another.
Escalation ends in boss encounters

How the roguelike loop works
- Enter a run. The Archdemon begins a new attempt against humanity’s forces.
- Defeat enemies. Human and holy-warrior opponents are the targets, and tougher encounters increase the pressure as the run advances.
- Collect Souls. Souls fund the choices that expand the character’s capabilities.
- Select or reroll upgrades. Ability choices can be accepted or rerolled, letting players pursue a more coherent build when an offered option does not fit.
- Combine the build components. Skills, runes, passives and specializations are mixed to create stronger interactions and specialized play styles.
- Face bosses and the commander. The run’s later encounters test whether the build developed enough power and synergy to survive its final threats.
As with other run-based games, the structure emphasizes adaptation. A run is not simply a linear campaign in which the same upgrades arrive in the same order; the choices presented during that attempt shape what the Archdemon can do.
