What happened to Firmus’s proposed IPO?
Firmus withdrew its application to list on the ASX before completing the proposed offering. The company said it would pursue private-market capital and consider other public- and private-market options. Its withdrawal followed investor demand that was inadequate at the terms sought, according to reporting on the decision.

The proposed offer had been marketed at A$11 a share, with a reported value of about A$44 billion. Those were proposed IPO terms, not a completed listing or a confirmed post-withdrawal valuation. Why did Firmus withdraw?
Weak investor demand at the desired terms is the central reported explanation. Coverage also points to concerns about the speed of Firmus’s valuation growth, its operating capacity, forecasts that depended on facilities still being built, and uncertainty about investment in AI infrastructure. ABC News quoted Jun Bei Liu, co-founder and lead portfolio manager at Ten Cap Investment, saying, “The valuation for the company was way too high to start with.” Philip Wool of Reliance Investment Research described the market backdrop as a “wall of AI anxiety” at the time Firmus planned to list. What the reported Maas Group figures measure
Reports describe two different movements in Maas Group’s share price after the Firmus news. They use different time windows and metrics, so neither should be substituted for the other.

Investing.com’s one-session estimate and Forbes Australia’s five-day figure are not the same calculation. The reports reviewed do not supply a reproducible calculation that reconciles either measure with the headline’s $700 million. That headline figure should therefore be treated as an unverified description unless its currency, measurement dates and method are established separately.
Did Maas actually lose $700 million?
Not in the sense of a confirmed cash loss from selling its Firmus shares. A listed company’s market capitalisation is the value implied by its quoted share price and share count. When the share price falls, that implied market value falls too; the change does not, by itself, show that the company sold an asset or received less cash for it.

Investing.com and Forbes Australia reported that Maas held a 3.2% stake in Firmus. The available reports describe a sharp reaction in Maas’s share price but do not establish that Maas sold the Firmus holding. Without evidence of a sale or a realised loss, the reported market-capitalisation movement should not be described as cash wiped out from a completed transaction.

Firmus announced on February 5, 2026 that Maas Group Holdings had made a strategic equity investment. The announcement also described Maas subsidiary JLE as an electrical and electrification partner in Firmus’s Australian AI-factory supply chain, with local manufacturing capacity for components including cooling, power and integrated systems.
