Firelight withdrawals are not instant because the protocol queues exit requests until the next full coverage period ends. With the one-day periods described in current documentation, the practical wait is roughly one to two days. A proposed 30-day period would make timing depend on when you leave: an exit near the end of a period could take just over 30 days, while one submitted near the beginning could approach 60 days.
What Firelight deposits represent
Firelight lets users deposit FXRP, an XRP-linked asset on Flare, into a vault and receive stXRP. The stXRP token is an ERC-20 receipt for the deposited FXRP and can be transferred or used elsewhere in Flare’s DeFi ecosystem.

Firelight describes its purpose as creating “a market for on-chain DeFi cover,” with user-provided collateral helping protect participating DeFi protocols. In the proposed Phase 2 design, deposited FXRP backs coverage sold to those protocols. Coverage customers pay premiums, and those premiums are intended to become income for vault participants.
That design is different from a conventional savings account. Your return depends on premiums and protocol operations, while your principal can remain exposed to claims and your liquidity is constrained by the withdrawal queue.

How the withdrawal queue works
A withdrawal request does not become claimable immediately. Firelight’s documented rule is that a request submitted during one coverage period can be claimed only after the following full period has ended. The capital stays in the queue during that interval.
Queued funds stop earning new rewards as soon as the withdrawal process begins. They can nevertheless remain exposed to a claim tied to the coverage period in which the FXRP was still backing protection. If an eligible claim is approved, the amount ultimately returned to you can be lower than the amount requested.

How long the wait can be

The “up to 60 days” figure is therefore a consequence of the queue formula and a possible 30-day period, not an indication that withdrawals are permanently disabled. Bifrost’s support guidance says the current vault has no indefinite lockup, although a cooldown delays the final claim.

Suppose a 30-day period has just started and you submit a withdrawal on its first day. Your request waits for that period to finish, then remains queued until the next full period ends. That produces a wait close to two periods, or nearly 60 days. A request made just before the current period ends has only the next period to wait, so the delay is just over 30 days.

The exact countdown is vault-specific and is shown in the withdrawal interface. Because the cited Firelight documentation still described one-day periods as current, readers should not treat the 60-day scenario as proof that a longer setting is active.
What can happen to your principal
Firelight’s loss waterfall places a protocol-funded stablecoin First-Loss Buffer ahead of staked FXRP. In principle, that buffer absorbs losses before staked collateral. However, the available material does not establish the buffer’s current balance, its coverage relative to outstanding obligations, or a completed paid claim. It is not possible to call the reserve sufficient from the published information.

What Firelight’s TVL does—and does not—show
Third-party snapshots put the scale of deposited vault assets in the tens of millions of dollars, but TVL is not a measure of protection sold or profit earned.

Neither figure proves how much coverage Firelight sold, how much premium it collected, or whether premium income compensates users for lockup and claim exposure. These are historical measurements, not a live balance at publication time.

How to deposit and monitor a withdrawal
Bifrost’s support instructions describe a practical flow for users who already have access to FXRP:
- Obtain or hold FXRP in a wallet connected to Flare.
- Open Firelight’s vault interface and stake the FXRP. The vault issues stXRP as the transferable position receipt.
- Check the withdrawal screen before exiting. The interface displays the cooldown for that specific vault; do not assume every vault uses the same period.
- Submit the withdrawal request and record when the current coverage period ends. Rewards stop when this process starts.
- Monitor the pending request until it becomes claimable after the following full period.
- Keep FLR available for the final claim transaction, as advised in the support documentation.
During the queue, the position can still be affected by an eligible claim from the relevant coverage period. Becoming claimable is the point at which the final transaction can be completed; it is not the same as receiving an instant withdrawal at request time.
Is staking XRP through Firelight worth the lockup?
The answer depends on whether you can tolerate delayed access to capital and a non-zero chance of principal loss. The premium-based model may offer income that a passive FXRP holding does not, but that income is neither guaranteed nor separable from coverage risk.
Firelight is a poor fit for money that may be needed on short notice, particularly if a 30-day period is ever enabled. It may suit a user who understands the queue, can leave funds exposed through the pending interval, and accepts that an approved claim could reduce the final amount.
Before committing, verify the live period shown in the vault, the withdrawal deadline, the reward-stop rule, and any available information about reserves and claims. Do not infer safety from TVL alone, and do not treat the planned 60-day maximum as an activated feature unless current Firelight documentation confirms it.
