If you want 4K playback on a 4K television, choose the Fire TV Stick 4K (3rd Gen). If your television is HD and you do not need 4K output, the Fire TV Stick HD (2026) is the model to consider. The main difference is resolution; Amazon also sells a separate Fire TV Stick 4K Plus (2025), so check the generation on the listing before comparing specifications.
Which Fire TV Stick fits your TV?
- Choose Fire TV Stick 4K (3rd Gen) if you have a 4K TV and want compatible content to play in 4K Ultra HD. Amazon identifies this model as a 4K streaming stick. Amazon’s Fire TV Stick 4K (3rd Gen) product overview describes its 4K capability.
- Consider Fire TV Stick HD (2026) if your TV is HD and HD playback meets your needs. Amazon describes it as an HD entertainment device. Its published specifications are for this 2026 model, not every Fire TV Stick HD sold in other years. Amazon Developer’s device specifications identify the model and its configuration.
- Check the exact model name if you see Fire TV Stick 4K Plus (2025). It is a separate device, and the specifications below for the 4K Stick apply to the 3rd Gen model, not automatically to the Plus. Amazon’s Fire TV comparison information distinguishes device generations.

What the shared setup features mean
Amazon says both cited models can receive power directly through a television’s USB port and support Wi-Fi 6. Those are advertised features, not evidence that one stick streams faster or has better wireless performance than the other. A TV’s USB port and home network still affect setup and use; no comparative performance measurements are established here.

How to compare prices without mixing up models
- Identify the device by its full listing name: Fire TV Stick HD (2026), Fire TV Stick 4K (3rd Gen), or Fire TV Stick 4K Plus (2025).
- Confirm the marketplace and country, then compare the current listings for the two exact models you are considering.
- Compare the price difference against your actual need for 4K playback and any model-specific features listed by Amazon. Do not assume a 4K Plus specification or price applies to the 3rd Gen.
