Wave 1 adds prototype weapons for the game’s four heroes, while two later waves will expand the roster, cosmetics, classes and story. The pass costs $34.99 in the United States and requires the full game.
What launches on October 15
Wave 1 is available on launch day for the Expansion Pass. Its featured addition is a set of prototype weapons for the four heroes. Nintendo describes these weapons as being modeled after the Heroes’ Relics from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, giving players equipment inspired by a familiar part of the series’ recent history.

Wave 1 is not a standalone product. It is included with the Expansion Pass, and Nintendo does not sell the individual waves separately. Players therefore need to buy the pass rather than purchasing only the weapon set.

Wave 2 — winter 2026
The second wave is scheduled for winter 2026. It will add four gods—Mars, Aurora, Smyrnos and Jurah—along with new outfits. Nintendo has announced the content and seasonal window, but has not provided a more specific release date.
#1 Best Overall
- Here, order is maintained by the Church of Seiros from its headquarters at Garreg Mach Monastery, home to the Officers Academy, where you’re invited to teach one of its three mighty houses: The Black Eagles, The Blue Lions, and The Golden Deer.
- Which house will you choose?
- As its professor, you must lead your students in class and in tactical RPG battles wrought with strategic, new twists to overcome.
Wave 3 — 2027
The third wave is planned for 2027 and is the broadest announced update. It will add new stories, additional allies, new class types and more content. Nintendo has not yet specified the exact stories, characters, classes or launch date.
Those future additions are part of the pass’s planned content, not content available with today’s Wave 1 release. The announced schedule can change until Nintendo publishes firm dates.
Rank #2
- Command Fire Emblem: Three Houses characters like Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude in epic real-time battles
- Play through three distinct storylines set in the Fire Emblem: Three Houses universe, each with a different ending, from the point of view of a new protagonist, Shez.
- Combine the action-packed Warriors-style gameplay with the strategy and style of the Fire Emblem series
- Fight through hordes of enemies with Fire Emblem: Three Houses characters and their distinct abilities
- Use Fire Emblem series mechanics like the weapons triangle, character classes, crests, and battalions to tailor your strategy
Expansion Pass, game and bundle prices
Nintendo lists the following US prices:
| Purchase | US price | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Base game | $69.99 | The full Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave game |
| Expansion Pass | $34.99 | Waves 1, 2 and 3; individual waves are not sold separately |
| Game-plus-pass bundle | $104.99 | The full game and the Expansion Pass |
The bundle is the direct option for anyone who does not already own the game. Existing owners need the $34.99 pass, while buyers starting from scratch should compare the $104.99 bundle with buying the $69.99 game and $34.99 pass separately. Prices above are Nintendo’s US listings and may differ in other regions.
Do you need the full game?
Yes. Nintendo states that the full version of Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is required to use the Expansion Pass. The pass is additional content, not a playable replacement for the base game. Because the waves cannot be purchased individually, there is no lower-cost way to buy only Wave 1 through Nintendo’s listed purchase options.
Rank #3
- The Officers Academy is home to three houses: The Black Eagles with house leader Edelgard, The Blue Lions with house leader Dimitri, and The Golden Deer with house leader Claude
- As a professor, lead students in their academic lives and on the battlefield
- A turn-based, tactical RPG that puts new twists on strategic battling
- Freely roam Garreg Mach Monastery and interact with students in a variety of ways to bond with them. In the classroom, tutor your students to help them
- Grow in the skill sets required to become specific classes
Where to buy it
Nintendo Support lists the pass through the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch 2 and through Nintendo Store. Check that the account and store region match the edition you intend to use, since the published prices in this announcement are specifically for the United States.
What is Fortune’s Weave?
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive released on September 17, 2026. Its story is set in the Dagdan Empire, where fighters enter the Heroic Games for a chance to have one wish granted. The Expansion Pass extends that game with equipment first, then new divine characters and outfits, followed by story, ally and class additions.
Rank #4
- Reawaken as a Divine Dragon and take down a thousand-year-old threat
- Take on turn-based, tactical combat and use Emblem Rings to customize your strategy
- Collect Emblem Rings and use them to summon heroes from past Fire EmblemTM games
- Fire EmblemTM Engage launches on January 20, 2023 alongside Fire Emblem Engage: Divine Edition featuring a steelbook case and art book
Is the pass worth buying now?
The clearest reason to buy today is access to Wave 1’s four prototype weapons and a reservation for the announced winter 2026 and 2027 content. Buyers who want only a single weapon set should note that Nintendo offers no wave-by-wave purchase. The value decision therefore depends on whether the future gods, outfits, stories, allies and class types are also relevant to you.
Nintendo has published prices, release windows and content descriptions, but not sales figures, player counts, review scores, completion times or performance measurements for the pass. Those metrics should not be treated as established facts when evaluating the purchase.
