Revenant Saga may interest Fire Emblem fans looking for another turn-based RPG, but the official descriptions do not establish it as a tactical, grid-based game. Published by KEMCO, it follows Albert after a deceptive experiment turns him into a revenant and gives his story its revenge-driven start.
What is Revenant Saga?
Revenant Saga is a gothic fantasy RPG from KEMCO. Its premise centers on Albert, who seeks revenge on the scientist whose experiment transformed him into a revenant and caused deaths close to him. How does its combat compare with Fire Emblem?
Nintendo describes Revenant Saga as using turn-based battles with 3D animation. That makes broad turn-based RPG appeal a reasonable point of overlap with Fire Emblem, but the official listings reviewed do not describe Revenant Saga as a grid-based tactical RPG. They do not establish Fire Emblem-style tactical maps, class systems, permadeath, or relationship mechanics, so it is better approached as a different kind of turn-based RPG rather than a direct substitute. Nintendo’s description names three additional systems alongside its battles:
