To buy used DVDs nearby, start with dedicated media resale shops, game resale stores that carry movies, library used-media sales, and thrift stores. Search by city or ZIP code, then call the specific shop to confirm it sells DVDs and has the title you want. If nearby stock is unpredictable, an online used-media catalog can be a practical fallback.

Dedicated media and resale shops
Record shops and media retailers are often the most direct places to browse used DVDs. The Buy Physical Media map lets you search by city, state, or category, including DVD. It is a directory, not a live inventory system, so contact a store before making the trip.

Some game resale stores also sell movies and television shows. Disc Replay lists movies and TV shows among its categories and says it has 38 locations across Illinois, Iowa, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Georgia, Michigan, and Tennessee. For a location-specific example, Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont lists Rewind, a record and media shop at 100 West Matthews Street in Matthews, North Carolina. Its page lists DVDs at $3.99 each or three for $10, says most sales are final, and describes a listening room for testing media. Library sales and Friends of the Library shops
Public libraries and Friends groups sometimes sell donated media through used bookstores, ongoing sales, or special events. Check the library system’s website for terms such as “used media sale,” “Friends bookstore,” or “DVD sale,” and confirm which branch has the sale.

Naperville Public Library says its ongoing used book and media sale is available at all its locations and lists DVDs and Blu-rays for 50 cents on the page reviewed in 2026. The library notes that prices and variety can vary, items are sold as-is, and returns or refunds are not available. How to check a store before you go
- Search by location. Use your city or ZIP code with a physical-media map, a retailer’s store finder, or a library system’s website. Check the specific branch’s address and hours.
- Call with the title. Ask whether the shop carries DVDs and whether it can check for the movie, season, or box set you want. Local listings and directories generally do not show live, title-level inventory.
- Ask about condition. If possible, inspect the disc for scratches and confirm that the case includes the correct disc and inserts. Ask whether the store tests discs and what its grading terms mean.
- Confirm total cost and recourse. Ask the price, whether there are multi-item deals, and whether the sale is final or returns are allowed. Policies can differ even between nearby sellers.

Try an online used-media seller and check the exact product listing before ordering. Loved Again Media lists DVD movies and says it inspects and grades used discs as Good, Very Good, or Like New. Its current page says US shipping is free on orders over $25 by Media Mail, with one-to-two-day handling, and that returns are accepted within 14 days.
