AirPods Pro 3 are the clearest iPhone-first option in these sources: SoundGuys highlights their integration with iPhone, and Apple lists health and hearing-related features alongside listening features. Before buying, check Apple’s current device and operating-system requirements for the specific features you plan to use; availability and compatibility can depend on them.

If you use Android or switch between platforms
SoundGuys identifies the Sony WF-1000XM6 and Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 as cross-platform Android options with companion-app sound tuning. That makes them useful candidates if you want to adjust the sound without choosing earbuds solely for one phone ecosystem. Check each manufacturer’s current feature and device requirements, especially if you rely on a particular codec or control.
What matters most in ANC and sound?
ANC depends partly on fit
Noise cancellation is not only an electronics feature. TechRadar quotes Bose Senior Engineer John Rule explaining that most headphone and earbud noise cancellation combines active and passive technologies: microphones and electronics generate an opposing signal, while the physical seal helps block sound passively. If an earbud does not seal well in your ear, its passive isolation—and potentially your experience of ANC—may suffer.

Fit can vary between listeners, so take the included tip choices seriously and, where available, check the seller’s return policy before purchase. RTINGS notes a shallow fit and stabilizers for the Anker Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro, as well as an IP55 rating for that model; those are model-specific details, not guarantees about comfort or suitability for every wearer.

There is no objectively correct tonal balance for everyone. Bass-forward, balanced, or brighter tuning is a preference; available app EQ can help if you want to adjust it. RTINGS and Tom’s Guide provide model-specific listening assessments, while SoundGuys also describes companion-app tuning for the Sony and Sennheiser options above. Treat each as a reviewer’s assessment, not a promise that every listener will hear the same result.

How do you compare battery-life claims?
Compare continuous earbud playback under stated settings, not just a total that includes the charging case. ANC and immersive or spatial audio can affect runtime, and manufacturer figures are not directly comparable independent tests.

What else should you check before buying?
- Calls and multipoint: RTINGS reports improved microphone performance for Sony WF-1000XM6 versus its predecessor. Bose lists Bluetooth multipoint for QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen). Check that a model has the feature you need rather than assuming it is standard.
- Fit and stability: Tip options, stabilizers, and the quality of the seal can matter more to daily comfort than a review ranking. Try the fit if you can, and check the return terms.
- Durability: RTINGS reports an IP55 rating for the Anker Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro. Do not transfer that rating to other models or assume it covers every type of exposure.
- Price and stock: The guides identify price tiers but do not establish a live price for every model or region. Check current local pricing, availability, and exact model name before ordering.
Which pair should you choose?
- Start with the Apple AirPods Pro 3 if iPhone integration is your priority.
- Consider the Sony WF-1000XM6 if you want a cross-platform option and a current RTINGS top-tested pick.
