Most PDFs you download on iPhone are in the Files app. Open Files > Browse > Downloads. If you do not see Downloads there, check iCloud Drive > Downloads and On My iPhone; the destination depends on how the PDF was saved.
Find a downloaded PDF in Files
- Open the Files app. If it is not on your Home Screen, search for “Files” from the Home Screen.
- Tap Browse, then tap Downloads.
- If Downloads is not listed at that level, tap iCloud Drive, then Downloads.
Apple says Files is where you can find documents and other files downloaded from the internet or a mail app. See Apple’s guide to finding downloaded files on iPhone.

Check Safari if you just downloaded the PDF
In Safari, tap the Downloads button beside the search field. It provides a shortcut to recent downloads and lets you check whether a download is still in progress. Apple’s downloads guide describes this Safari location.

Search other storage locations
If the PDF is not in Downloads, open Files and search for its name. Check both iCloud Drive and On My iPhone. iCloud Drive stores files that sync across devices, while On My iPhone contains files saved locally. A PDF’s location depends on the destination selected when it was saved. Apple explains these locations and search options in its guide to finding files on iPhone or iPad.

Choose a location when saving a PDF from Safari
To make the file easier to locate later, open the PDF in Safari, tap the Share action, then tap Save to Files. Choose or confirm a destination, enter a name if needed, and tap Save. Apple’s Safari PDF instructions cover this save flow.
