How to find your own lost phone

- Contact your mobile carrier. Report the phone lost or stolen and ask about its process for suspending service or blocking the device using its IMEI. A network block is not a location lookup.
- Secure accounts if recovery is unlikely. Follow the device maker’s guidance for securing your account and consider changing passwords for important accounts accessible from the phone.

What if you are worried someone is tracking you?
Tracking a person without their knowledge or consent can create serious safety and legal risks. Apple says its tracking accessories “should not be used to track people, and should not be used to track property that does not belong to you.” Its guidance explains how to respond to unwanted-tracking alerts. The Federal Trade Commission warns that stalkerware can let an abusive partner or ex-partner secretly monitor a device and online activity. If you suspect this is happening, prioritize your safety: the FTC notes that seeking help or removing software may alert the person monitoring you.
