Recommended Free Tools
Square Enix’s official minimum target for FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH on PC is 1080p at 30 FPS on the Low preset. Its recommended target is 1080p at 60 FPS on Medium. Both tiers require 16 GB of RAM, 155 GB of available storage, and an SSD. The PC version has Low, Medium, and High presets, supports NVIDIA DLSS and variable refresh rate, and gained AMD FSR upscaling in a June 3, 2026 update. Install the current game update before troubleshooting, because several documented fixes depend on it.
Official PC requirements
Square Enix publishes two tiers on its PC requirements support page. Each tier pairs hardware with a resolution and frame-rate target, so read the target as part of the requirement, not a side note. The minimum tier is a 30 FPS floor. The recommended tier is a 60 FPS goal.

| Tier | Operating system | CPU | Memory | GPU | DirectX | Storage | Stated target |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | Windows 10 64-bit | AMD Ryzen 5 1400 / Intel Core i3-8100 | 16 GB | AMD Radeon RX 6600 or above / Intel Arc A580 / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (RTX series required) | Version 12 | 155 GB available; SSD required | 1080p at 30 FPS, Low preset |
| Recommended | Windows 11 64-bit | AMD Ryzen 5 5600 or Ryzen 7 3700X / Intel Core i7-8700 or Core i5-10400 | 16 GB | AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 | Version 12 | 155 GB available; SSD required | 1080p at 60 FPS, Medium preset |
Square Enix also states that the PC needs Shader Model 6.6 support and an operating system with DirectX 12 Ultimate support. These are listed as requirements in addition to the table.
The 4K note
The table covers 1080p only. For 4K, Square Enix recommends 12 GB of VRAM or more. The same page does not give a separate 4K GPU tier, so do not assume a listed 1080p card will hit a 4K target.

Checking your PC against the tiers
- Meets the minimum GPU list: the official target is 1080p at 30 FPS on Low. Expect to tune down from there rather than assume a higher preset.
- Meets the recommended GPU list: the official target is 1080p at 60 FPS on Medium. The notice does not say that every PC in this tier holds that rate in every scene.
- Storage: the game needs 155 GB of available space on an SSD. Square Enix lists the SSD as required, not optional.
- Unlisted GPUs: Square Enix does not place other cards in these tiers. Do not treat a card as equivalent to a listed one unless an independent benchmark you trust tests it.
Settings and features
Quality presets
The PC version offers Low, Medium, and High presets. Square Enix describes them as starting points, and its announcement does not name a single best preset for every machine. Choose the preset that matches your hardware tier and then adjust from there.
The announcement supports up to 120 FPS. In Square Enix’s words, “Gameplay offers an experience that will feel new, including high frame rates of up to 120 FPS.” The same announcement does not say that every PC can sustain that rate, so treat 120 FPS as a supported ceiling rather than a guaranteed result. The announcement is on the official Square Enix Steam Community page.
Upscaling: DLSS and FSR
NVIDIA DLSS can raise frame rates and upscale the image. Variable refresh rate (VRR) is also supported. Version 1.004 added DLSS Frame Generation, and on RTX 50 series cards it added DLSS Multi Frame Generation. The June 3, 2026 update added AMD FSR upscaling for PC. Square Enix’s notices do not publish frame-rate gains for any of these options, so the effect on your system is something you will need to test directly.

Background model and texture detail
The options menu lets you adjust background model Level of Detail and background texture MIP maps. In general terms, model detail controls how finely distant objects are drawn, and MIP maps control which texture resolution is used at a distance. Higher values usually add GPU and VRAM load. Square Enix does not publish per-setting cost figures, so lowering these two settings first is a reasonable test if you are short on performance, but the official notes do not rank them.
Controls
- Keyboard and mouse are supported.
- Controls can be customized separately for exploration and for combat or mini-games.
- A DualSense can be connected to use the PS5 version’s control layout.
PC version history
- Version 1.003 (notice dated March 6, 2025): fixed an issue where the game could sometimes crash during play on PCs with certain AMD Radeon products, alongside broader stability fixes. See the 1.003 notice.
- Version 1.004 (notice dated November 5, 2025): added DLSS Frame Generation and, for RTX 50 series, DLSS Multi Frame Generation, and reported overall stability improvements. See the 1.004 notice.
- Version 1.005 (notice dated June 3, 2026): added AMD FSR upscaling for PC. The notice lists PC version 1.005 for Steam and Epic. See the 1.005 notice.
The 1.005 notice is the most recent PC update Square Enix’s notices in this article cover. If your Steam or Epic client shows a later build, check the game’s patch notes there, because later versions may change the behavior described here.
Common fixes
Install the current update first
Square Enix repeatedly advises installing the latest update before troubleshooting. Both the Steam and Epic listings were at version 1.005 as of the June 2026 notice. If you are on an older build, update the game and retest before changing any other setting.

Crashes on some AMD Radeon systems
Version 1.003 fixed an issue in which the game could sometimes crash on PCs with certain AMD Radeon products. The notice does not promise that all crashes or all AMD hardware are covered. If you still crash after updating, note your GPU model and driver version, then check the game’s patch notes for newer fixes.

Square Enix’s Windows notice, Version 1.1, says changing the graphics preset now correctly sets Anti-Aliasing to the default FSR option on AMD Radeon and Intel Arc cards. If anti-aliasing looks different after a preset change, use these steps:
- Confirm the game is on the current update (version 1.005 or later).
- Open the in-game graphics options and change the preset.
- Check the Anti-Aliasing setting. On these cards, it should now show the default FSR option.
- If the setting still reads differently, set it manually and test again. The notice does not describe a further fix for this behavior.

What the official notes do not verify
Square Enix’s notices name specific issues and their fixes. They do not verify community workarounds such as deleting shader caches, installing mods, changing driver control-panel options, or reinstalling the game. None of these is endorsed here as a universal solution. If you try one, make one change at a time so you can tell which change helped.
