What is the “hot springs” quest in FF7 Rebirth?
The likely match is The Saga of the Seaside Inn, a Costa del Sol side quest about helping Johnny renovate his inn. The Johnnys are looking for a republic-era boiler valve so the resort can have hot water. Square Enix describes Costa del Sol as a resort town, but the walkthroughs do not identify a separate quest named “Hot Springs” or a distinct hot-springs bathing activity in this quest. When can you start and finish the quest?
At the start of Chapter 7, accept the request from Johnny at the inn or from Costa del Sol’s community noticeboard. You can complete the opening section then, but the quest cannot be finished until Chapter 9 opens the Corel Desert portion.

How do you complete The Saga of the Seaside Inn?
- Accept Johnny’s request. Speak with him at the inn or take the quest from Costa del Sol’s community noticeboard after Chapter 7 begins.
- Meet the Johnnys at Costa Falls. Recover refurbishment materials around the Corel ziplines and deliver them. Four bundles meet the basic progression requirement; collect all eight for the best reward, as advised by the guides.
- Find the Boiler Valve transmuter chip. Complete two Corel Lifespring analyses to reveal Excavation Intel 1: Valve Factory Ruins. At the ruins, use a chocobo to sniff out and dig up the chip.
- Craft and deliver the Boiler Valve. The recipe is 2 Iron Ore, 2 Zinc Ore, and 2 Amethyst. Bring the completed valve to the Johnnys.
- Return in Chapter 9. Continue the quest with Johnny in the Corel Desert. Complete all six Corel Lifesprings to reveal the classified Tonberry King encounter.
- Defeat the Tonberry King and recover its crown. Pressure it until the crown drops. If you want a pristine crown, have Steal materia equipped and steal it before the Tonberry King picks it back up.
- Deliver the crown and report back. Return to Johnny with the crown, then report back at the inn to finish the quest.
How many refurbishment bundles should you collect?

What do you need to craft the Boiler Valve?
The recipe is 2 Iron Ore, 2 Zinc Ore, and 2 Amethyst. First complete two Corel Lifespring analyses to reveal Excavation Intel 1: Valve Factory Ruins. Use a chocobo to sniff and dig up the Boiler Valve transmuter chip there; then craft the valve.
How do you get a pristine Tonberry King crown?
Complete all six Corel Lifesprings in Chapter 9 to reveal the classified encounter. Guides recommend equipping Steal materia before the fight. Pressure the Tonberry King until the crown drops, then steal it before the boss picks it back up to obtain the pristine version.

Does the crown have to be pristine?
No. The GameFAQs walkthrough says Johnny accepts either a pristine or a marred crown. The pristine version is an optional quality upgrade, not a required quest condition according to that guide. GameFAQs PS5 guide by Uta, updated 2025

The PowerPyx walkthrough lists access to Johnny’s Treasure Trove, increased Yuffie relationship progress, Party EXP, character EXP that scales with level, and Queen’s Blood Card 134: J-Squad. The guides reviewed do not fully specify how rewards differ by refurbishment-bundle count.
