Ferris Whale and Leviathan are both located at Pleasure Pier on Del Perro Pier in Del Perro, Los Santos. Ferris Whale is the slower sightseeing ride; Leviathan is the roller coaster with lifts, turns, and drops. To use either attraction, walk to its boarding gate and press the context-sensitive button shown on screen. The character boards automatically. Neither ride is documented as a drivable vehicle with steering, throttle, braking, or a separate control menu.
Where to find both rides
Leave the main streets of Los Santos and head to Del Perro Pier, the large pier extending into the ocean at Del Perro. The amusement area is called Pleasure Pier. Ferris Whale and Leviathan stand in the same attraction area, so you do not need to travel to two different neighborhoods to compare them.

At the pier, look for the two recognizable structures: Ferris Whale is the Ferris wheel, while Leviathan is the roller-coaster track. The ride names are used in the game’s attraction listings and in the GTA Wiki entries for the park and each ride. You can approach either attraction on foot and use its boarding gate.

What you need before going
- No story mission completion is reported as a prerequisite.
- No separate physical ticket purchase is required outside the in-game fare charged when you board.
- You need enough in-game money for the selected ride’s fare.
- Because the interaction is contextual, remain close to the marked boarding point until the prompt appears.
How to ride Ferris Whale
- Travel to Pleasure Pier on Del Perro Pier.
- Walk to the Ferris Whale entrance and boarding gate.
- Stop when the interaction prompt appears on your screen.
- Press the button shown by that prompt. The exact button depends on your platform and current control layout.
- Wait for the boarding animation and let the ride begin automatically.
Ferris Whale is designed as a sightseeing circuit rather than a vehicle you operate. The documented experience is a slow rotation with elevated views over the pier, ocean, and Los Santos skyline. The guide describing the ride says that camera angles can be switched while you are riding, making it the better choice when your goal is to look around or capture screenshots.

What you can and cannot control
You initiate the ride at the gate, but you do not pilot the wheel. No source documents steering, acceleration, braking, a speed setting, or a dedicated Ferris Whale control screen. Once the character is seated and the circuit starts, the attraction follows its automatic sequence.
Camera changes are different from ride controls. Switching a view changes what you see; it does not change the wheel’s speed or direction. If a camera option is available in your version, use the on-screen camera instruction rather than looking for vehicle-style controls.
How to ride Leviathan
- Go to Pleasure Pier on Del Perro Pier.
- Find the Leviathan entrance and move to its boarding gate.
- Approach until the contextual interaction prompt is displayed.
- Press the displayed interaction button.
- Allow the automatic boarding sequence to finish; the coaster then runs its programmed course.
Leviathan is the energetic option. Its documented ride profile includes a lift hill followed by turns and drops. Like Ferris Whale, it is an attraction that you enter, not a vehicle that you drive. There is no documented steering, throttle, brake, or player-selected route.

The current ride description says the camera view cannot be changed during the Leviathan sequence. That means you should choose your preferred perspective before boarding if your game presents a choice at the gate. Once the ride is running, the coaster’s camera presentation is fixed for the ride segment described by the guide.

Character reactions
The coaster also differs in how the protagonists react. Michael is described as reacting fearfully, Franklin as reacting excitedly, and Trevor as remaining silent. Those reactions are character flavor rather than controls, but they can influence which protagonist you choose when you want a particular scene.
Ferris Whale and Leviathan prices
The following fares are the figures documented for the stated mode. They are in-game prices, not real-money purchases.
| Ride | Story Mode | GTA Online | What the figure establishes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ferris Whale | $8 | $10 | The cited how-to guide lists both amounts in its mode comparison. |
| Leviathan | $15 | Not stated | The current Leviathan entry lists $15 for a ride; the comparison table does not provide an Online fare. |
Use the $8 Ferris Whale and $15 Leviathan figures for Story Mode, and the $10 Ferris Whale figure for GTA Online. The available comparison does not establish a GTA Online Leviathan price, so do not assume that its Story Mode fare carries over. Online availability or pricing can vary with the version you are playing and should be checked at the attraction’s gate.

The fare is associated with boarding. You do not buy a ticket from a separate shop or complete a transaction outside the ride interaction. Walk to the gate, confirm the displayed interaction, and the game handles the in-game charge as part of entering the attraction.
Controls: interaction prompt versus vehicle controls
The most important control distinction is that these are amusement-ride set pieces, not drivable vehicles. The game asks you to perform one contextual action at the gate; it does not give you a steering interface afterward.
Rockstar Games Customer Support, in an article updated February 29, 2024, states: To view and adjust the vehicle controls, enter a vehicle and then go to the pause menu settings.
That instruction concerns vehicles. It should not be read as evidence that Ferris Whale or Leviathan can be steered, accelerated, or stopped through the vehicle-controls menu.
If you are unsure which button to press
- Use the button shown in the on-screen prompt rather than a remembered vehicle-control button.
- Check your platform’s current control layout if the prompt is difficult to read.
- If you have remapped controls, the displayed action reflects your active mapping.
- Do not enter the pause-menu vehicle settings expecting a ride-specific steering option; no such option is documented for these attractions.

Choose Ferris Whale when the view matters
Ferris Whale is the practical choice for a player who wants to pause the usual driving and combat loop. Its slow circuit gives you time to look outward from an elevated position, and the reported camera-switching option makes it more suitable for surveying the skyline or composing a screenshot. It is also the lower-cost Story Mode ride at the documented fares.
Choose Leviathan when the motion matters
Leviathan is the stronger choice when you want the attraction itself to provide excitement. The lift, turns, and drops make it more energetic than Ferris Whale, and the protagonists’ differing reactions add a small character-specific reason to repeat it with Michael, Franklin, or Trevor.

A practical decision guide
Use this quick decision framework before you walk to a gate:
- Want scenery or a calmer break? Choose Ferris Whale.
- Want drops and faster-changing motion? Choose Leviathan.
- Planning screenshots? Start with Ferris Whale because the guide reports switchable camera angles.
- Want a protagonist reaction? Choose Leviathan and select the character whose documented response fits the scene you want.
- Playing GTA Online? Confirm the fare and whether Leviathan is available in your version before assuming the Story Mode figures apply.
- Looking for a drivable attraction? Neither ride fits that use; both are boarded through a contextual prompt and run automatically.
Troubleshooting boarding problems
The interaction prompt does not appear
- Move directly to the attraction’s boarding gate rather than stopping beside the outer railing or track.
- Adjust your position until the character is close enough for the contextual interaction to activate.
- Make sure you are at the intended ride entrance; Pleasure Pier contains multiple attractions.
- Check that your character has enough in-game money for the fare shown for your mode.
- If the gate still does not react, leave the immediate area and approach again so the interaction can reload.
These steps address the interaction behavior described for the rides; they do not imply that a hidden steering system exists.
The ride starts but you expect to steer
That expectation is the problem rather than a missing setting. The documented system is automatic: the gate interaction boards the character, and the attraction follows its sequence. Look for camera instructions where applicable, but do not search for throttle, brake, or route controls.
The price does not match a guide or video
First identify the mode. The documented Story Mode prices are $8 for Ferris Whale and $15 for Leviathan, while the documented GTA Online Ferris Whale price is $10. The available comparison does not state a GTA Online Leviathan fare. Differences can therefore reflect mode, game version, or an Online availability change rather than an error in the ride controls.
Best Value
Story Mode and GTA Online: what is established
The clearest documented set of figures is for Story Mode: Ferris Whale costs $8 and Leviathan costs $15. The same comparison lists Ferris Whale at $10 in GTA Online. It does not fill in a GTA Online Leviathan amount, so there is no supported number to publish for that cell.
The rides are described as accessible without completing story missions or purchasing a separate ticket. That describes access requirements, not a guarantee that every platform, update, or Online session will expose identical behavior. If your version presents a different prompt, price, or availability state, use the information shown at the gate as the current in-game result.
What each ride adds to a GTA 5 session
Ferris Whale as a sightseeing stop
Ferris Whale works best when you treat Pleasure Pier as a location to explore rather than a challenge to complete. The elevated circuit changes your relationship with Del Perro: roads and pedestrians become a distant view, and the ride’s slow movement gives you time to inspect the coastline. The reported camera options support that observational use.

Leviathan as a short thrill activity
Leviathan supplies a compact burst of movement without requiring a race setup or a custom vehicle. Its lift hill, turns, and drops are the attraction’s defining features. The separate protagonist reactions also give repeat visits a little variety, even though the player does not alter the track or speed.
Why the comparison is not about driving skill
Neither ride tests braking points, cornering, acceleration control, or route selection. The meaningful choice is experiential: views and a slower circuit versus a coaster sequence and character reactions. Selecting one over the other is therefore a preference decision, not a question of which has the better handling model.
Bottom line for choosing between them
Go to Pleasure Pier on Del Perro Pier, approach the gate, and follow the on-screen boarding prompt. Pick Ferris Whale for a calmer, view-focused circuit and documented camera-angle switching. Pick Leviathan for a roller-coaster sequence with a lift, turns, drops, and protagonist-specific reactions. Treat the documented prices as mode-specific—$8 and $15 in Story Mode, and $10 for Ferris Whale in GTA Online—and do not invent a GTA Online Leviathan fare where the comparison does not state one.
