Looking for a LEGO set to build or give? A 2026 Mashable roundup gathered 17 favorites from the author’s friends, family, and coworkers. That makes it a useful collection of personal recommendations—not a representative survey, a popularity ranking, or a systematic product test. The accessible excerpt confirms four picks; it does not establish the other 13 entries.
How the 17 recommendations were collected
The roundup describes an informal poll of people in the author’s social and work circle, asking about sets they had built and sets on their wish lists. Its choices span themes such as Mario, Botanicals, Star Wars, and Technic. The method offers a range of personal tastes, but it cannot show how LEGO fans overall would rank the sets.

How to use an informal favorites list
- Choose by build experience: The confirmed examples include a play feature on the Yoshi Bike and display-oriented models such as the Retro Radio and Globe.
- Check the exact version: Set names can refer to specific releases; verify the product number and edition, especially when checking the Millennium Falcon’s reported piece count.
- Confirm availability directly: The article’s description of the Globe as retired and hard to find may no longer reflect the market. Check current official or retailer listings.
- Treat endorsements as personal taste: The list reflects a small circle’s built sets and wish lists, not a measured consensus or a comparable test of build quality.
