Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves Season 3 DLC Fighters: Which One Should You Play?

If you want a mechanics-based starting point, try Rick Strowd: SNK describes his boxing style and Aggressor stance, including follow-ups such as overheads, lows and catch counters. For the other announced Season 3 fighters, there is not enough official side-by-side gameplay information to say who is strongest, easiest or objectively best. Watch their official character trailers, then choose by the moves and character appeal you actually see.

How to choose a Season 3 DLC fighter

The honest answer to “which character should you play?” depends on what you want from a fighter. The official information gives a specific mechanical description for Rick Strowd, but it does not establish comparable play-style, execution or competitive rankings for the full Season 3 roster. That makes Rick the clearest mechanics-led recommendation in the available material—not a claim that he is the strongest or easiest character.

If Rick’s stance-based boxing does not appeal to you, use the official character trailers as a first look at the other fighters. Treat what a trailer shows as a way to judge presentation and whether a character interests you, not as proof of how that character performs in matches. SNK’s official character trailer index collects the videos.

A simple way to make the choice is to separate what you know from what you want to find out. Rick has a documented mechanic to consider; for the rest, the current official information confirms their inclusion and provides trailers, but not a fair, side-by-side account of how they play. If you are deciding whom to try first, choose the fighter whose presentation makes you curious, then assess the actual controls and decisions in the game once that fighter is available.

Season 3 roster and announced timing

As of October 12, 2026, SNK’s announced Season 3 roster is Rick Strowd, Duck King, Kim Kaphwan, Manjiro Sano, Ken Ryuguji, Laocorn and Reina. SNK announced a new fighter and content update each month beginning July 23, 2026, but release schedules can change. The October 10 announcement identified Manjiro Sano and Ken Ryuguji for October and Reina for December. SNK’s Season 3 announcement and its October roster announcement provide the published schedule details.

Fighter What is established What to use when deciding
Rick Strowd Season 3’s first fighter; SNK specifically describes his boxing and Aggressor stance. Whether the stance and its varied follow-ups look appealing to you.
Duck King Announced as a Season 3 fighter; no comparable move-set description is established here. Watch his official character trailer for presentation and visible moves.
Kim Kaphwan Announced as a Season 3 fighter; no comparable move-set description is established here. Watch his official character trailer for presentation and visible moves.
Manjiro Sano Tokyo Revengers guest fighter announced for October 2026. Watch his official character trailer; his source series does not establish his fighting-game role.
Ken Ryuguji Tokyo Revengers guest fighter announced for October 2026. Watch his official character trailer; his source series does not establish his fighting-game role.
Laocorn Announced for November 2026. Check the current platform listing and his trailer when available; the announcement does not provide a full comparative move-set assessment.
Reina From TEKKEN 8; announced for December 2026. Her crossover identity may interest fans, but it does not by itself explain how she plays in City of the Wolves.

The dates in the table are announced timing, not a guarantee that every fighter is already available in every storefront. Check SNK’s current information and your platform’s store before buying, especially for fighters with future announced release months.

The schedule is useful for planning, but the monthly-update announcement is not a substitute for checking a specific fighter’s current status. A fighter listed for a future month may not yet be available when you read this; regional store pages can also be the clearest place to confirm what can be purchased on your platform. SNK has also warned that release schedules may change, so verify the listing rather than relying on an old calendar entry.

What to look for in each fighter

Rick Strowd: a stance-based boxing option

Rick is the only Season 3 fighter in the available official descriptions with a clearly spelled-out mechanic to use as a selection criterion. SNK calls him one of Fatal Fury’s few true boxers and says his new Aggressor Style stance has follow-ups including overheads, lows and catch counters. In its Rick Strowd announcement, SNK describes the stance as having “versatile follow-ups (overheads, lows, catch counters, and more).”

That description suggests a concrete question for a prospective player: does the idea of entering a stance and choosing among different follow-ups sound enjoyable? It does not answer how difficult the stance is to use, how safe its options are, or how it compares with the rest of the roster. Those judgments would require evidence beyond the announcement.

Fatal Fury City of the Wolves
  • Legendary Crossover & More! 5 additional DLC characters—including Street Fighter’s Ken and Chun-Li—join the streets of South Town in Season Pass 1, which will be released through early 2026. (Season Pass 1 is included in the Special Edition.)
  • All-New REV System! Introducing a dynamic toolkit offering powerful offensive options right from the start! Take advantage of moves like REV Arts, REV Accel, and REV Blows until you max out and overheat the REV Meter!
  • Classic Battle Systems, Evolved! Iconic battle mechanics like Combination Attacks, Just Defense, Braking, Dodge Attacks, Feints, and S.P.G. (Selective Potential Gear) are back from the Fatal Fury series, reimagined for today’s fighters after 25 years.

In other words, the mechanic gives you something specific to evaluate, not a complete recommendation. If varied stance follow-ups sound fun, Rick is a sensible first candidate to investigate. If you would rather choose based on a particular match-up role, range, defensive tools or execution demands, the official description cited here does not settle those questions.

Duck King and Kim Kaphwan: judge the actual presentation

Both are confirmed Season 3 fighters, and SNK’s trailer index is the useful next step for seeing their character presentations. The material cited here does not establish concise, comparable descriptions of their move sets. Avoid assigning either a role such as “rushdown,” “beginner-friendly” or “defensive” based on reputation, appearance or a few trailer moments alone.

For either character, use the trailer to answer an initial, personal question: do the animations and displayed attacks make you want to learn more? Then look for game-specific information or try the character in play before drawing conclusions about how they function. The available official material does not support ranking Duck King against Kim Kaphwan on ease, strength or any other comparative measure.

Manjiro Sano and Ken Ryuguji: crossover appeal is not a play-style guide

SNK announced the two Tokyo Revengers guest fighters for October 2026. If you follow that series, recognition may make one of them an obvious character to try. But their origin and visual design do not establish their range, resource demands, execution burden or competitive strength in City of the Wolves. Use their official trailers to decide whether their presentation attracts you, then rely on in-game experience rather than franchise assumptions to assess fit.

SNK’s October 10, 2026 announcement identified both guests for that month. That is useful for knowing when to check your platform’s store, but it is not evidence that either guest fills a particular role in matches. Fans can certainly use crossover interest as a reason to start with one of them; just keep character preference distinct from claims about competitive performance.

Laocorn: verify timing and availability

Laocorn was announced for November 2026. Because that is a future announced month as of October 12, availability may depend on when you read this and which storefront you use. The cited information does not establish a full move-set comparison, so do not treat the release month as evidence about his play style.

Reina: a familiar name, but a different game

SNK announced Reina, from TEKKEN 8, for December 2026. That origin can be a good reason for a crossover fan to pay attention to her, but it is not enough to infer how she controls or performs in City of the Wolves. Wait for her game-specific presentation and decide on that basis.

A practical checklist for comparing trailers

Trailers can help you narrow the roster by interest, but they are not balanced tests of performance. For each character, note what you can actually observe and separate it from what remains unknown:

  • Approach and range: Do the clips show attacks or movement that make you want to engage at close, middle or longer range? A short showcase does not prove how reliably a fighter can control that distance in a match.
  • Stances or resources: Does the character visibly enter a stance or use a resource? Rick’s Aggressor stance is specifically described by SNK; do not assume other fighters have equivalent systems unless their game-specific information shows it.
  • Offense and defense: Look for actions that appear to start pressure, interrupt an opponent or respond to an attack. A trailer is not enough to determine their safety, priority or consistency.
  • Execution: Notice whether the showcased sequences look appealing to practice. Do not turn a few polished clips into an “easy” or “hard” ranking; the available announcements do not supply comparative difficulty ratings.
  • Personal interest: Consider whether you enjoy the character’s identity, animations and presentation. This is a valid reason to choose a first character, even when comparative performance data is unavailable.

To keep the comparison useful, apply the same questions to each trailer rather than judging one character from a long showcase and another from a short clip. Note what is directly visible, such as a stance or an attack sequence, separately from what the clip cannot establish: consistency, matchup value, how demanding a sequence is, or whether it is effective against a resisting opponent. The goal is to identify who you want to try, not to produce a trailer-based tier list.

Once a fighter is available, the most useful follow-up is to try the character in the game and see whether the actual controls and decisions suit you. A trailer can identify who you want to learn; it cannot establish who is best for you in play.

Buying Season 3 fighters: pass, platform and price

SNK lists Season Pass 3 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Nintendo Switch 2 and Epic Games Store. Its product page lists the seven Season 3 fighters—Rick Strowd, Duck King, Kim Kaphwan, Manjiro Sano, Ken Ryuguji, Laocorn and Reina—as the pass contents. See the official product page for the platform and product details.

SNK’s Season 3 announcement lists the pass at $19.99 / €19.99 and says earlier DLC characters can be purchased individually. It also warns that prices vary by storefront and release schedules may change. Those figures are the announced pass price, not a promise of the current price in every region or store. Check your platform’s listing for current price, availability and included content before checkout.

If you are interested in only one fighter, compare the current individual listing, where available, with the Season Pass 3 listing before buying. The announcement confirms individual purchases for earlier DLC characters, but does not establish a universal individual price for every Season 3 character. Do not assume that a single-character purchase is included in the pass price calculation or that every fighter is already individually available; check the live store page for the exact offer.

The base game and paid additional content are distinct on SNK’s product page. Buying the base game does not, by itself, mean you own the DLC fighters. Confirm whether a listing is for the base game, a season pass or a bundle, and read its contents rather than assuming a particular edition includes Season 3.

If you need the base game on disc, a physical PS5 copy is a reasonable product search to make, but confirm the current listing and edition before ordering. SNK’s official product information supports the game and platform category; it does not verify any particular retailer listing or its contents. For digital or physical purchases alike, check that you are buying the product you intend to own and not mistaking the base game for the add-on pass.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which City of the Wolves Season 3 DLC fighter should I try first?

Rick Strowd is the clearest mechanics-led starting point in SNK’s official descriptions: he is a boxer with an Aggressor Style stance and follow-ups including overheads, lows and catch counters. That does not establish him as the strongest or easiest fighter. For the others, use their official trailers to decide who interests you, then try them in game.

Who is the easiest Season 3 fighter to pick up?

The official information cited here does not provide a comparative difficulty rating, so it cannot support an easiest-fighter ranking. Rick’s stance description gives you a mechanic to consider, but does not say how demanding it is to use.

What fighters are included in Season Pass 3, and what does it cost?

SNK’s product page lists Rick Strowd, Duck King, Kim Kaphwan, Manjiro Sano, Ken Ryuguji, Laocorn and Reina as the Season 3 pass contents. SNK announced a price of $19.99 / €19.99, but storefront prices and availability can vary; check your platform’s current listing.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does buying the base game include the Season 3 DLC fighters?

Not automatically. SNK lists the base game and paid additional content separately. Check whether the offer is for the base game, a season pass or a bundle, and verify the listed contents before purchasing.

When are the announced Season 3 fighters scheduled to arrive?

The October 10, 2026 announcement identified Manjiro Sano and Ken Ryuguji for October and Reina for December; Laocorn had been announced for November. SNK also announced monthly fighter and content updates beginning July 23, 2026. Schedules may change, so check SNK and your platform storefront for current availability.

The Bottom Line

Try Rick Strowd if his stance-based boxing and varied Aggressor follow-ups appeal to you; he is the only Season 3 fighter with a specific mechanics-led recommendation in SNK’s official descriptions. For everyone else, start with character trailers and personal interest rather than unsupported claims about who is easiest, strongest or best. Before you buy, confirm current fighter availability, platform, price and whether the listing is the base game or DLC.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
