It is not a blanket promise to reimburse every loss: exclusions, benefit and item limits, an excess, eligibility rules and the Certificate of Insurance all matter. Check the current Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and your certificate against your specific trip before buying.
What Standard Saver is—and what this review can establish
Fast Cover positions Standard Saver as its mid-level international travel insurance policy, between Basics and Comprehensive. Its product information describes cover for overseas medical expenses, cancellation and trip disruption, luggage and personal effects, emergency dental and personal liability, subject to policy terms. Optional additions include cover for some adventure activities, motorcycles, rental vehicle excess and cruises. See Fast Cover’s Standard Saver product page.

The figures below come from Fast Cover’s PDS dated 22 March 2025 and its product comparison information. They are insurer-published limits, not an independent assessment or a guarantee that a claim will be paid. Fast Cover says its online material is general information and that it assesses claims individually under the policy, PDS, certificate and circumstances. Confirm the currently linked PDS and your quote before relying on any limit.

| Benefit | What Fast Cover publishes for Standard Saver | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Overseas emergency medical and hospital expenses | Unlimited in the PDS dated 22 March 2025 | Covered events, exclusions, approval requirements, excess and applicable age or eligibility conditions. |
| Emergency evacuation and repatriation | Unlimited in the PDS dated 22 March 2025 | Fast Cover says medical transfer, evacuation or repatriation must be approved by it first; check the PDS and contact the insurer in an emergency as soon as practicable. |
| Overseas emergency dental | $750 summary limit on Fast Cover’s comparison page, accessed in 2026 | Eligible treatment, sub-limits and exclusions in the current PDS. |
| Cancellation, disruption, baggage and personal liability | Benefits are described, but the amounts are not stated in the cited product summary | Current benefit table, event conditions, item caps and your certificate. |
“Unlimited” describes the stated benefit limit, not unconditional payment for any medical bill or evacuation. The PDS says: “Cover is only provided where the relevant covered event occurs during the Period of insurance and is subject to the terms and conditions of the Policy.” Read the Fast Cover PDS for the operative terms; the excess is shown on the Certificate of Insurance.

Why baggage limits can leave a gap
The PDS dated 22 March 2025 sets category limits for individual unspecified belongings, as well as an overall baggage benefit limit. Its examples include:
- $3,000 for standalone computers, cameras and video recorders, with stated device exceptions.
- $1,500 for a mobile phone, satellite phone or other portable communications equipment item.
- $1,000 for a small mobile handheld computer, including a tablet.
- $750 for other unspecified items or sets.
For eligible high-value belongings, the PDS allows travellers to pay an additional premium to declare items, up to $5,000 for one item or set and $10,000 combined. Some item categories cannot be declared. These are maximums described in the 22 March 2025 PDS, not assured claim payments; check the current wording, conditions and exceptions before deciding whether your belongings are adequately covered.

What Standard Saver does not include
Fast Cover’s product information says Standard Saver does not include accidental death, permanent disability, loss-of-income benefits, or additional reasonable meals and accommodation costs during a travel delay. If any of those protections are important to you, compare the current policy wording and benefits rather than assuming they are included under another heading.

Planned activities and transport can change whether the base policy is appropriate. Fast Cover lists Adventure Pack, Motorcycle Pack, rental vehicle excess and cruise cover as optional additions. Its PDS also excludes some activity- or motorcycle-related claims unless the relevant additional cover has been selected and paid for. Check that your exact activity, vehicle or cruise is eligible and that the chosen option appears on your certificate; an add-on name alone does not establish cover for every situation.

Medical conditions and age also require attention. Review Fast Cover’s current screening process and policy eligibility for each traveller, and disclose information as requested. Do not infer acceptance or cover from the headline medical limit.
How to decide whether it fits your trip
- Calculate cancellation exposure. Add the non-refundable trip costs you could lose, then compare that amount with the current cancellation limit and covered-event rules in the PDS.
- Check medical and evacuation terms. Read the exclusions, approval requirements and age provisions, and consider whether the policy’s conditions fit your destination and circumstances.
- Inventory valuable baggage. Compare your belongings with both the total baggage limit and the per-item categories. Check whether a high-value item can be declared and the additional premium involved.
- Match cover to activities and transport. Verify planned activities, motorcycle or scooter use, rental-car excess and cruising against the PDS; add optional cover only where available and suitable.
- Review trip eligibility and the final quote. Confirm trip dates, destination, duration, medical-condition screening, excess, premium and every selected extra on the Certificate of Insurance.
Standard Saver versus Comprehensive
Fast Cover’s FAQ describes Comprehensive as having broader cover and higher limits than Standard Saver, and directs customers to the PDS benefit table. That is the insurer’s own comparison, not an independent ranking. Compare actual limits and terms rather than relying on the tier names.

| Decision point | What to compare |
|---|---|
| Cancellation | Whether the limit covers your non-refundable costs and which cancellation events qualify. |
| Medical and evacuation | Conditions, exclusions, approval rules and age provisions. |
| Baggage | Total limit, item-specific caps and rules for declaring high-value belongings. |
| Delays and other benefits | Whether the additional meal and accommodation costs during delays, accidental death, permanent disability or loss of income matter to you. |
| Trip details | Eligibility for your destination and duration, medical screening, excess, optional cover and total premium. |
Verdict
Standard Saver is worth considering if its eligible medical, cancellation, disruption and baggage benefits match your trip and you are comfortable with its exclusions, caps and omitted benefits. It is a poor fit if your cancellation exposure exceeds the applicable limit, valuable belongings are constrained by item caps, or your plans depend on activities or benefits the base policy excludes. The decision should rest on the current PDS and the cover shown on your certificate—not the tier label or headline limits alone.
