Police said three suspects had been arrested in a case involving allegations that two minors were sexually assaulted and robbed in Sector 78, Faridabad. Reports place the alleged incident on August 24, 2026; the investigation was ongoing, and the available coverage does not report a court finding or conviction.
What police reportedly said happened
Hindustan Times reported that police placed the alleged incident between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. on August 24, 2026, at an empty building in Sector 78. According to the complaint as described by police to the outlet, the two friends were near the building when the accused allegedly approached, threatened and took them inside.
Faridabad police public relations officer Yashpav Yadav, quoted by Hindustan Times, said: “There, the accused extorted money from the two victims and sexually assaulted them.” He also said they were allegedly thrashed when they tried to resist. These are allegations attributed to the police account, not findings independently established by a court. (Hindustan Times)
Arrests and investigation status
Hindustan Times and The Indian Express reported three arrests by October 2. Both described police efforts to trace other alleged participants, but coverage differed on how many remained outstanding. The safest confirmed description across these reports is that three suspects had been arrested and the investigation continued; a precise number still being sought is not established consistently. The Tribune reported that an FIR was registered at BPTP police station on September 29. A Faridabad police spokesperson quoted by the paper said: “Based on the complaint, an FIR for rape was registered on September 29 at the BPTP police station, however, the allegation of gang rape has not been confirmed yet. We have arrested three suspects in connection with the case and are questioning them. A detailed probe is underway and the entire picture will be clear soon.” (The Tribune)
What the reports say about the FIR
Hindustan Times reported that the FIR invoked sections 6 and 7 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and sections 115, 351(2) and 308 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The outlet described these as provisions concerning aggravated penetrative sexual assault, sexual assault, voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation and extortion, respectively. This is a report of the provisions listed in the FIR, not a determination that the alleged offences occurred. The underlying FIR was not available in the reports reviewed. (Hindustan Times)

Details that remain uncertain
- The girl’s age: Hindustan Times and The Indian Express reported her as 14, while The Tribune reported her as 13. Without an authoritative record resolving the discrepancy, her age should not be treated as settled.
- The alleged group assault: The Tribune’s quoted police spokesperson expressly said the gang-rape allegation had not been confirmed at that point. That statement describes the investigation then, not its eventual outcome.
- Final legal outcome: The available reports describe an FIR, arrests and an ongoing probe. They do not establish a final charge sheet, trial result, conviction or judicial finding.
Hindustan Times published a further update on October 3 that still described three arrests and an ongoing investigation; it did not report a final outcome. (Hindustan Times; The Tribune)
