Laut dem Bericht von Play3 vom 2. Oktober 2026 stellte Entwickler Chris First Fallout: New York als KI-gestützte Tech-Demo vor, die im Browser läuft. Dem Bericht zufolge sollte sie mehrere Rollenspiel-Elemente enthalten:

Diese Funktionen sind Angaben des Berichts; eine unabhängige technische Prüfung der Demo ist nicht belegt. Play3 zufolge erreichte ein Clip zum Projekt rund 3,5 Millionen Aufrufe. Das ist eine berichtete Zahl für den Clip, keine Angabe zu aktiven Spielern oder eindeutigen Nutzern.
Hat ZeniMax das Projekt gestoppt?
Das ist nicht unabhängig bestätigt. Play3 berichtet, First habe ein Bild einer Mitteilung gezeigt, die wie ein offizielles Unterlassungsschreiben von ZeniMax Media aussah. Ein verifizierbares Original des Schreibens und eine offizielle Stellungnahme von ZeniMax zu diesem konkreten Fall liegen nicht vor. Die Überschrift, dass ZeniMax das Projekt stoppe, geht daher über das hinaus, was die verfügbaren Belege sicher bestätigen. Präziser ist: Der Entwickler zeigte laut Play3 ein Bild, das wie eine Aufforderung von ZeniMax aussah; der weitere Status des Projekts ist nicht bestätigt.
Was sagte der Entwickler?
Play3 gibt Firsts Aussage wieder: „Es ist alles kostenlos und ich verdiene damit keinen Cent.“ Der Bericht schreibt ihm außerdem die Hoffnung zu, ZeniMax werde ihn nicht auffordern, das Projekt offline zu nehmen. Das sind dem Entwickler zugeschriebene Aussagen. Sie bestätigen weder die Echtheit des später gezeigten Schreibens noch die rechtliche Einordnung des Projekts. Was sagen Bethesdas Mod-Regeln?
Bethesda erklärt in seiner Richtlinie zu Crowdfunding und Monetarisierung von Skyrim- und Fallout-4-Mods, dass Nutzer ohne vorherige schriftliche Zustimmung eines autorisierten ZeniMax-Vertreters keine Gebühren für die dort behandelten Mods verlangen oder sie kommerziell verwerten dürfen. Die Regel bezieht auch Gebühren oder nicht-monetäre Beiträge zur Mod-Entwicklung ein, darunter Crowdfunding, vorbehaltlich geltenden Rechts. Zudem beschränkt sie die Verteilung auf Nutzer, die das jeweilige Spiel über autorisierte Kanäle erworben haben.
