Verdict: The Fairphone 6 Plus—sold officially as the Fairphone (Gen. 6+)—is best suited to people who want a phone they can repair and keep for years. Its replaceable parts and promised software support are compelling; its mid-range performance, merely adequate camera, and substantial US list price make it a less convincing choice if speed, photography, or low upfront cost comes first.
What the Fairphone 6 Plus is—and who it suits
“Fairphone 6 Plus” is the name used in TechRadar’s review. Fairphone’s product pages and US shop call the device Fairphone Gen 6+ or Fairphone (Gen. 6+). This review uses the official name when discussing manufacturer specifications, while referring to the same Plus-generation phone throughout.

The defining proposition is longevity through repairability: Fairphone identifies 12 replaceable parts and promises software support through 2033. That makes the phone worth considering if you value access to replacement components and want to avoid replacing a whole device for a worn battery or damaged part. Those are manufacturer features and commitments, however, not proof of how long any individual phone will remain in use.

It is a more qualified choice for buyers focused on high-end gaming, standout photography, or the lowest purchase price. The evidence supports a practical trade-off, not a claim that repairability will necessarily make the Gen. 6+ cheaper over its lifetime; no independently verified total-cost-of-ownership comparison is established here.

Specification presentation differs slightly across the manufacturer and reviews—for example, the display is described as 6.3 inches by Fairphone and 6.31 inches by TechRadar. The table identifies the source rather than treating those figures as a single independently verified measurement.
Repairability is the reason to buy it
Fairphone says a Torx T5 screwdriver opens the device, describing it on its product page this way: “A single Torx T5 screwdriver tool opens up your device in minutes.” That is the company’s claim; it signals a design intended to make access practical, rather than establishing that every repair is effortless for every owner. Fairphone sells replacement modules, but check that a part is compatible with the exact model and available in your region before buying.
Fairphone’s 2026 product page lists these component prices at its webshop, excluding shipping. The same page compares them with estimated industry averages derived from official repair quotes for three flagship-brand competitors collected in July 2025. Those comparison figures are Fairphone’s own methodology, not an independent market-wide study.

These figures help show what modular parts may cost through Fairphone’s shop; they do not include shipping, establish local repair-labor costs, or predict what a particular owner will spend. Prices and availability can change, and the competitor comparison is limited to the company’s stated sample and method.
Software support: a long promise, not a guaranteed lifespan
Fairphone says the Gen. 6+ will receive software support through 2033. Its support page makes the roadmap more specific: six Android upgrade years and one additional year of security updates. This is a manufacturer commitment, not evidence that every unit will be used until then, or that the phone’s battery and other components will last without replacement.
Support duration matters most when paired with the ability to replace worn or damaged components. The combination makes the Gen. 6+ a credible option for someone planning to keep a phone beyond a typical upgrade cycle, but buyers should treat the dates and cadence as Fairphone’s stated policy rather than an independently demonstrated outcome.

Performance and display: capable for everyday use, not a gaming pick
The Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 and 12GB RAM configuration reported by TechRadar and IT Pro place the reviewed phone in the mid-range rather than flagship class. TechRadar found it adequate for most ordinary tasks, while noting that it lagged older flagships and that certain games caused occasional strain. IT Pro’s general assessment was more positive, but neither review establishes the Gen. 6+ as a flagship gaming device.
TechRadar describes the display as good but not exceptional. Its review lists a 6.31-inch panel at 1,116 × 2,484 resolution, with 120Hz refresh and up to 1,400 nits of brightness; Fairphone’s own listing calls it a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED. Those specifications indicate a modern high-refresh display, but they do not erase the performance compromises for demanding games.
Camera quality: useful for everyday pictures, not a reason to choose it over camera leaders
Fairphone’s official setup is a 50MP main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide, and a 32MP front camera. TechRadar characterizes the camera experience as adequate for average use but not particularly accomplished. The megapixel counts describe the sensors, not a guarantee of image quality; based on the review evidence, photography-focused buyers should compare alternatives rather than choose the Gen. 6+ for its cameras.

Battery life and charging
The official battery capacity is 4,415mAh. Battery-life reports vary by method: TechRadar observed about a day of average use in its 2026 review, while IT Pro recorded 15 hours and 45 minutes in a looped-video test. These are different forms of evidence and should not be read as competing results from the same test.
TechRadar reports 30W wired charging and no wireless or reverse charging. That is a practical limitation for people who rely on charging pads or want the convenience of reverse charging; the replaceable battery is the more distinctive longevity feature.

Price and availability
Fairphone’s US shop lists the Fairphone (Gen. 6+) at $649.99. That is a US shop list price, not a universal price: stock, price, and regional availability can change, so check Fairphone’s listing for your country before deciding. At this price, the case for paying more than a budget phone depends largely on valuing repair access and the stated support roadmap, rather than expecting class-leading cameras or gaming performance.

Should you buy the Fairphone 6 Plus?
Buy it if
- You want a phone designed around replaceable modules and a battery you can replace rather than treating the whole device as disposable.
- You place substantial value on Fairphone’s stated software-support roadmap through 2033.
- Your everyday use is more important than flagship gaming performance or best-in-class photography.
- You are comfortable checking regional parts availability and paying the upfront price for a longevity-focused device.
Consider another phone if
- You need consistently strong performance in demanding mobile games.
- Camera quality is a top priority; TechRadar’s assessment does not position this as a camera leader.
- You want the lowest upfront cost. TechRadar describes the standard Fairphone 6 as cheaper and close in specifications and environmental credentials, making it the closest within-brand alternative to compare.
TechRadar also mentions HMD Fusion as a repairability-oriented alternative, but describes it as older and no longer receiving updates in that review. That observation is review-specific and should not be treated as a current support check for every market or configuration.
Final assessment
The Fairphone (Gen. 6+) makes its strongest case through repair access, replaceable components, and a defined long-term software-support promise. Its compromises are also clear: mid-range performance, cameras that are adequate rather than exceptional, and a US list price of $649.99. Buy it for the prospect of maintaining a phone over time—not because the available evidence shows it beats conventional alternatives on speed, imaging, or total ownership cost.
