Unhide a photo from your Facebook profile

Open Facebook and go to your profile.

Open Activity Log. Facebook describes it as a place to review and manage shared content, including photos, and to view information hidden from your profile. The route to Activity Log can vary between desktop and mobile interfaces. See Facebook’s Activity Log help page and its guidance on managing profile content.

In Activity Log, look for the section for posts hidden from your profile. A reported label is Posts hidden from profile, under the posts area; the exact organization may vary.

Find the photo or post, open its options menu, and look for an action such as Add to profile. That wording is reported in a recent guide, but it is not guaranteed to appear in every version or for every item. If the option is missing, the available controls for that content may differ.

Return to your profile and check whether the item appears. Review its audience setting separately if you also want to control who can see it.
What restoring a photo does—and does not do
Hiding an item from your profile changes where it appears; it does not necessarily delete it or restrict its audience. Facebook says hidden timeline content can still be visible to the audience it was originally shared with, including in News Feed and Search. So, if your goal is to limit visibility rather than restore profile placement, inspect the item’s audience controls instead. Adding a hidden item back to your profile does not, by itself, establish a different audience.

If it is a tagged photo or a profile or cover photo
Someone else’s photo that tags you
Controls can differ when the photo is someone else’s post in which you are tagged. There is no universal restore procedure established for every tagged image, page, profile, and app version. Check the options available for that specific item in Activity Log rather than assuming the same menu will appear.

Current and older profile or cover photos
Facebook says your current profile picture and cover photo are public to people on or off Facebook. For older photos previously used as a profile or cover image, privacy settings may be adjustable. Check the audience for the specific photo; restoring its placement and changing its privacy are separate actions. See Facebook’s profile-picture and cover-photo privacy guidance.

Confirm you are looking in Activity Log’s hidden-from-profile area, rather than only browsing the profile’s visible photos.

If the photo belongs to another person or is a tagged post, its controls may differ from those for a post you created.

If the item was deleted rather than hidden from the profile, this procedure does not recover it. This guide covers profile placement, not deleted content.
