There is no evidence-based fastest or strongest F-Zero GX golden car yet. The five machines—Thunderstorm, El Dorado, Chrono Symphony, Bahamut, and Gladiator—are custom builds assembled from gold parts. A report dated October 12, 2026 identifies newly discovered four-player Shop inputs for unlocking those parts, but it publishes no Body, Boost, Grip, weight, acceleration, or top-speed figures. The useful comparison is therefore practical: unlock a build, read its in-game ratings, test it on a controlled course, and match its settings to the track.
What the five F-Zero GX golden cars actually are
“Golden cars” in this context does not mean five ordinary machines painted gold. It refers to five rare custom-machine builds in F-Zero GX: Thunderstorm, El Dorado, Chrono Symphony, Bahamut, and Gladiator. Each is assembled from gold parts associated with that machine.

The distinction matters because the available evidence does not establish a numerical ranking for these builds. The October 12, 2026 report from Video Games Chronicle names the five machines and describes the gold-part construction, but gives no Body, Boost, Grip, acceleration, maximum-speed, weight, or handling values. Numbers from the standard Golden Fox, Fire Stingray, Wild Goose, or another F-Zero game cannot safely be transferred to these custom builds.

So the honest answer to “which golden car has the best stats?” is unresolved. You can still make a sound choice by using the garage ratings, the machine-settings slider, weight information where the game displays it, and repeatable track tests.

Reported unlock inputs from the F-Zero Shop
Video Games Chronicle reported that all five builds were historically available through Japan-based promotions or F-Zero AX-linked distribution routes. The same report says newly found inputs can unlock the gold parts from the F-Zero Shop. The inputs must be entered simultaneously by four players or controllers, according to that report.
This is a reported discovery, not a result independently tested here. The report does not provide a primary technical explanation, timing specification, or performance data for the resulting machines. Treat the sequences below as reported inputs and verify them on your own GameCube setup.
| Golden build | Reported simultaneous input sequence |
|---|---|
| Thunderstorm | X, Z, Y, Z, X, Z, Y, X |
| El Dorado | X, Right, X, Z, Y, Left, Left, Z |
| Chrono Symphony | Left, Right, Z, Right, Left, X, Right, Z |
| Bahamut | Y, Y, Z, Right, Left, Z, X, Y |
| Gladiator | Right, Z, X, Left, Left, Right, Z, X |
Preserve the spelling Thunderstorm when documenting the first sequence; older fan references may style names differently. The report says the inputs unlock gold parts that are combined into the matching golden cars. It does not say that one input directly awards a complete machine with published statistics.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesA practical way to attempt the reported method
- Use a copy of F-Zero GX for Nintendo GameCube with access to the F-Zero Shop.
- Connect four compatible GameCube controllers. The four-controller requirement comes from the secondary report and has not been independently confirmed here.
- Open the F-Zero Shop and use the simultaneous-input method described in the report.
- Enter one eight-symbol sequence exactly as listed, with the players/controllers acting together.
- Check whether the corresponding gold parts become available, then assemble the named build in the machine-customization screens.
- Record the displayed Body, Boost, Grip, setting position, and any weight information before making track comparisons.
If nothing happens, do not assume the machine is defective. The reported discovery may depend on an exact menu state, controller arrangement, regional release, or timing detail that the article does not document. Recheck the sequence, confirm that all four controllers are recognized, and distinguish a failed unlock from a build that simply has unfamiliar performance.
How F-Zero GX’s ratings translate into performance
The instruction booklet rates three core attributes from A, the strongest grade, to E, the weakest: Body, Boost, and Grip. These letters are useful signals, but they are not a complete leaderboard.
Body
Body describes resistance to damage in collisions. A stronger Body rating means the machine can absorb more punishment before damage becomes a race-ending concern. That makes Body especially relevant in crowded races, aggressive traffic, and situations where unavoidable contact is part of the route.
Boost
Boost describes how dramatic the speed increase is when the booster is used. A higher Boost grade can benefit a strategy built around repeated boost activation, but boost performance must be considered alongside the shared energy meter. Spending energy for speed can reduce the reserve available for defensive recovery or other energy-dependent decisions.

Grip
Grip helps the machine hold curves and curved surfaces. A stronger Grip grade should make a machine feel more predictable through technical sections, banked turns, and track surfaces where a slide can cost a significant amount of speed. Actual cornering still depends on the driver, the machine setting, and the course.
Acceleration, maximum speed, and the machine-settings trade-off
F-Zero GX lets you move a machine-settings slider between acceleration and maximum speed. This is not a free upgrade: shifting toward one end sacrifices performance at the other.
- Acceleration-focused settings: quicker starts and easier recovery after a mistake, with better support for drifting through frequent turns. The manual says this setup is preferable on technical courses.
- Maximum-speed-focused settings: a higher potential top end on long straightaways, where the machine has enough uninterrupted distance to reach it.
- The cost of acceleration: moving toward acceleration reduces some maximum speed, boost, and grip.
- The cost of maximum speed: moving toward maximum speed makes quick starts and drifting harder.
Because no golden-build settings or measured lap times are published, do not describe one of the five as universally fastest. A build that appears slower on a twisty course may be better suited to a straight-heavy layout after its slider is moved toward maximum speed, while another may be easier to control with acceleration favored.
Weight changes the meaning of a golden car’s ratings
The manual’s weight guidance adds an important layer to the comparison. Lighter machines accelerate and grip better, turn more quickly, and take more impact damage. Heavier machines accelerate and grip less well, turn more slowly, and take less impact damage.
If the garage displays a golden build’s weight, record it with the letter grades rather than treating the grades as a standalone verdict. Two machines with similar Body, Boost, and Grip letters can feel different if one is lighter and the other survives contact better. Weight is also why a machine that looks appealing on a clean time-trial line may be less comfortable in a crowded race.
A comparison framework that does not invent missing statistics
Use the following framework for each golden build. It separates what the game displays from what you observe during a test and from what the report merely claims about unlocking.
| Comparison axis | What to record in-game | How it informs a choice |
|---|---|---|
| Body and durability | Displayed Body grade; collisions survived in the same test | Useful for crowded races and contact-heavy sections |
| Boost | Displayed Boost grade; speed change during a boost; energy consumed | Shows whether a boost-dependent strategy is practical |
| Grip and control | Displayed Grip grade; line stability through repeated corners | Helps identify a predictable choice for technical tracks |
| Acceleration versus maximum speed | Slider position; launch, recovery, and straight-line behavior | Acceleration favors turn-heavy layouts; speed favors long straights |
| Weight | Garage weight, if the build displays it | Explains differences in turning, grip, acceleration, and impact tolerance |
| Best use | Course type and driving style that produced the result | Produces a conditional recommendation instead of a universal ranking |
Label notes precisely: an in-game displayed value is different from a manual-described effect, a reported unlock detail, and a hands-on observation. That vocabulary prevents a fan guide’s tests of standard machines from being mistaken for official measurements of the golden builds.

How to test the five builds fairly
A repeatable test will tell you more than a single race impression. Use the same course, settings, and driving line for every machine, and write down the result before changing anything.

For each build, record its Body, Boost, and Grip letters exactly as displayed. Note the initial acceleration/maximum-speed slider position and weight if the garage provides it. Do not infer a numerical value from the letter grade.
2. Run a launch and recovery check
On the same safe section, compare the first acceleration after the start and the recovery after a controlled slowdown. This reveals how the machine feels with its current slider position. Repeat the run rather than relying on one launch.
3. Test cornering on a technical section
Choose a sequence with several turns and, if available, curved or banked surfaces. Hold the same entry speed and line for each build. Note whether the machine maintains the curve, requires earlier braking, or drifts more readily. Treat these as observations, not official statistics.
4. Test a long straight
Use a straight long enough for the machine to approach its top end. Compare the time or distance needed to reach that pace, then repeat with the slider moved toward maximum speed. Keep the comparison within the same course and conditions.

Start with a consistent energy level, activate the boost at the same marker, and note the immediate speed change and remaining energy. A stronger-feeling boost is not automatically better if it leaves too little energy for the rest of the lap.
6. Add a controlled contact test only if needed
If your main concern is race survival, use the same collision scenario for every build and note damage or recovery. Avoid turning one accidental crash into a durability ranking; repeat the event and report only a pattern you can reproduce.

Best-use guidance for each named golden build
No source establishes a stat advantage for any one machine, so the names below are not ranked. Use each profile as a decision checklist after the build is unlocked.
Thunderstorm
Check its displayed Body, Boost, and Grip grades first, then test whether its current setting favors quick recovery or long-run speed. If its observed control is stable through repeated corners, it may suit technical tracks; if its straight-line test is stronger after moving the slider toward maximum speed, reserve it for layouts with longer uninterrupted sections. Those are test-based conditions, not published Thunderstorm specifications.
El Dorado
Use the same garage record and launch test. Pay particular attention to whether the machine’s weight, if shown, makes it easier to turn but less tolerant of contact, or slower to rotate but more durable. Select it for the course where its observed compromise matches your driving style rather than assuming the gold name indicates higher performance.
Chrono Symphony
Compare its Grip grade and cornering behavior on the same technical segment used for the other four builds. A predictable line can be more valuable than a higher top-end feeling when a course repeatedly changes direction. Confirm that impression with several laps and record the slider position.
Bahamut
Use a straight-line and boost test to determine whether its practical role is built around sustained speed, burst acceleration, or conserving energy. Without published values, the correct recommendation depends on what the garage shows and what your controlled runs reproduce.
Gladiator
Include a contact-survival check if you expect crowded racing, but keep it separate from the clean-lap test. A heavier, more impact-tolerant build may be preferable in traffic even if it turns more slowly; a lighter build may be better when avoiding contact is realistic. Verify which behavior Gladiator actually exhibits in your version.
Why a universal “best golden car” list is misleading
The five builds can be judged on different objectives: clean-lap time, launch recovery, boost efficiency, cornering confidence, or collision survival. The manual explicitly describes trade-offs among acceleration, maximum speed, boost, grip, and weight. Optimizing one axis can weaken another.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.

- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
There is also a source-quality issue. Nintendo’s product material describes F-Zero GX broadly, including a roster of 30 craft and the ability to adjust the speed/acceleration ratio; it does not publish golden-car measurements. The instruction booklet defines the ratings and customization trade-offs but likewise gives no golden-build table. GameFAQs’ vehicle guide contains author testing and revised ratings for standard machines, yet those findings are neither official data nor measurements of the five gold builds.
Until a source publishes reproducible golden-build measurements, the most defensible recommendation is conditional: choose the build whose displayed grades, weight, setting response, and observed behavior fit the course you are actually racing.
Common mistakes when comparing the machines
- Importing numbers from another machine: Standard Golden Fox, Fire Stingray, Wild Goose, or another title’s figures do not establish the statistics of these five custom builds.
- Treating A–E as a complete ranking: The letters describe specific attributes, not total race performance.
- Ignoring the slider: A maximum-speed setup and an acceleration setup can make the same build feel substantially different.
- Testing different courses: A straight-heavy course rewards a different compromise from a technical, turn-heavy course.
- Confusing boost strength with race speed: Boost performance must be weighed against energy use and the rest of the lap.
- Calling an unlock report confirmed hardware fact: The four-player input method was reported on October 12, 2026 and was not independently tested in the available material.
- Ranking from one crash or one lap: Repeat each observation and preserve the exact setting used.
What is known, and what remains open
Known: the five names are Thunderstorm, El Dorado, Chrono Symphony, Bahamut, and Gladiator; they are assembled from gold parts; a recent report lists four-player Shop input sequences; and the manual explains how Body, Boost, Grip, settings, and weight affect play.
Recommended Free Tools
Not established: a numerical stat table, a fastest machine, a strongest machine, a universally easiest machine, measured top speeds, acceleration times, boost efficiency, or a definitive course-by-course winner. Those claims require reproducible in-game measurements or a primary technical source that is not present in the available material.
For readers deciding whether to seek out the original game, the relevant physical product is F-Zero GX for Nintendo GameCube. Availability, region, condition, and controller compatibility vary, so verify those details before buying. Four compatible controllers may be needed if you are attempting the reported simultaneous-input method.
The Bottom Line
The five F-Zero GX golden cars are rare gold-part custom builds, not a documented five-car stat ladder. Use the reported Shop inputs to attempt the unlock, then compare each machine’s displayed Body, Boost, Grip, weight, settings, and repeatable track behavior. Until measured golden-build data is published, there is no defensible single “best” car.
