Gold parts are special parts for the same three-part custom-machine system used by ordinary parts in F-Zero GX. The difference is mainly how you obtain them: regular parts are unlocked through game progression, while special parts were historically obtainable through F-Zero AX transfers. A community post dated October 10, 2026, also reports input codes for five gold-part sets, but that method has not been independently verified.
Are gold parts different from regular custom machine parts?
Not in how you build a machine. A custom machine uses three categories: a body, a cockpit, and a booster. Each category affects a different set of characteristics:

- Body: stability and strength.
- Cockpit: control and grip.
- Booster: top speed and boost.
Nintendo and Sega’s archived customization guide says GX, AX, and special machine parts can be combined in the customization simulator. Gold or special parts therefore fit into the existing system; they are not a separate kind of machine or a requirement for ordinary customization. Nintendo’s 2003 product description advertised 8,000 possible vehicle combinations before additional arcade parts were downloaded, a figure about combinations rather than gold-part sets or unlocks: Nintendo’s F-Zero GX product page.
How do you unlock regular custom machine parts?
Ordinary parts are earned through GX progression and then obtained in the in-game shop. The 2003 GameFAQs custom-machine guide catalogs part unlocks tied to Grand Prix results and Story chapters, along with shop ticket costs. Treat it as a detailed historical guide, not as current independent verification of every unlock condition.

These progression routes are all you need to use the standard customization system. You do not need an AX cabinet, a special license card, or the recently reported controller codes to build custom machines with ordinary parts.
How were special parts transferred from F-Zero AX?
Nintendo and Sega’s archived GX/AX instructions describe a historical transfer route: use a GameCube memory card containing a GX save at an F-Zero AX arcade cabinet, with a special F-Zero license card, to transfer special parts into GX. The transferred parts then appeared in GX’s F-Zero Shop. This documents the historical procedure; it does not establish that the required cabinets or cards are available now.

What gold-part codes have been reported?
A Reddit post dated October 10, 2026, reports entering sequences at Customize → F-Zero Shop to obtain five named gold-part sets. The post says four controllers must enter each sequence simultaneously. Because this is a single community report, not official documentation or an independently reproduced result, treat the codes as unverified; the post does not establish compatibility across regions or editions.

Which gold-part sets are known?
The available lists do not establish a definitive or complete catalog. The 2003 GameFAQs guide names Thunder Storm, El Dorado, Gladiator, and Chrono Symphony among special-part sets, and says some distribution details were uncertain; it records Chrono Symphony’s official unlock method as unknown. The 2026 Reddit post lists Thunderstorm, El Dorado, Chrono Symphony, Bahamut, and Gladiator as code targets. The spelling and set lists differ, so neither source should be treated as proof of a complete inventory or definitive acquisition method for every set.
