In an EyeJoker Steam announcement, the creator describes Maldhalla as a solo-developed project. The announcement says the full game expanded beyond the June demo to 21 characters, 32 weapons and 100 achievements, with bosses such as the Giant and Bone Dragon redrawn with individual attack patterns.
How Maldhalla’s survival roguelite gameplay works
Maldhalla uses an automatic-fire control model: weapons attack on their own while the player moves. That shifts the focus from manual aiming to positioning, avoiding attacks, collecting upgrades and deciding how a build should develop during a run.

Endless waves and timed bosses
Enemy strength increases as a run continues. A boss arrives every three minutes, so players must repeatedly adapt their movement and damage priorities rather than simply survive a static horde. Listed examples include the ground-slamming Giant and the fire-breathing Bone Dragon. In the developer’s community update, the Bone Dragon is identified as the Dungeon’s 30-minute boss on Normal Mode.
Characters and weapons
Each of the 21 characters has a distinct starting weapon, passive ability and active skill. The game advertises 32 weapons spanning melee, ranged, area and elemental categories. This gives a run its initial identity before later upgrades and synergies reshape the build.
Relics, gems and blessings
Holding specific combinations of two or three weapons activates a relic. That combination system adds a second layer of build planning beyond ordinary level-up selections: a weapon can be valuable not only for its own attack, but also for the relic it helps unlock.

There are 21 gem types that improve statistics such as damage, critical chance, evasion and lifesteal. Players can also select from 60 blessings, with rarities ranging from Common to Legendary. The available information does not assign fixed values to every gem or blessing, so their exact effects should be checked in the game.
Progression, achievements and competitive ranks
Progress is tied to achievements and in-game accomplishments. Achievements unlock characters, weapons and relics, and the Steam listing advertises 100 achievements in total. The store also states that there is no payment system that lets players buy power.
Ranks and seasonal leaderboards
Maldhalla has nine competitive ranks, running from Rookie to Immortal, alongside seasonal leaderboards. A pre-launch community notice says that a Steam account setting a ranked record before 19:00 KST on October 16 receives a Pioneer title. That reward condition applies to the stated pre-launch window and should not be treated as a permanent unlock rule.

Demo, controls and accessibility
A free demo is available on Steam. The listing identifies Maldhalla as a single-player game and includes Steam Cloud, Steam Achievements, Steam Leaderboards and Family Sharing.
Controller support
Full support is listed for Xbox controllers, DualShock controllers and DualSense controllers. Automatic weapon fire also means the game can be played without relying on precision mouse aiming, although movement and positioning remain central to survival.
Accessibility options
Steam lists six accessibility features:

Steam Deck compatibility is currently marked unknown. Intel-based macOS systems are marked incompatible, so owners of those Macs should not assume the Windows/Linux Steam build will run on their hardware.

Supported languages
The Steam language table lists 19 interface languages. Examples include English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese and Brazilian Portuguese. Full audio is not listed for these languages; the language support described is for the interface.

Steam’s disclosure says generative AI tools were used only as an assistive workflow for pre-generated store and marketing text, localization drafts and supporting 2D visual-asset iteration. The developer says all such content is reviewed, edited and approved by eyejoker.

The disclosure also states that Maldhalla does not generate AI content during gameplay and does not connect players to an external AI service. In practical terms, the game’s enemies, upgrades, relic combinations and other run-time systems are not described as being generated by AI while you play.
