Samsung has reportedly begun wafer production of its Exynos 2700, but that does not mean finished processors are shipping—or that the Galaxy S27 Ultra will use one. The Elec reported on October 2, 2026 that production had started while the Ultra’s final Exynos allocation remained undecided. Samsung’s reviewed official materials have not confirmed either the chip or the S27 lineup.
What “mass production” means for Exynos 2700
The Elec reported that Samsung Electronics had started full-scale front-end wafer production of the Exynos 2700. In this context, mass production means wafer fabrication has entered production; it does not mean finished chips are already available in phones. The report says testing is outsourced to OSAT providers, packaging is handled in-house, and the usual interval from wafer entry to finished products is three to four months. Those are process details attributed to The Elec, not confirmation of a retail launch date. The Elec’s October 2 report

The report says planned Exynos 2700 production volume is more than 10% higher than the Exynos 2600 target, attributing the increase to an additional Galaxy S27 Pro model. It says the volume requirement had been set for the S27, S27+, and S27 Pro, while the Ultra allocation had not been decided. Samsung has not publicly confirmed those plans in the official sources reviewed.
Will the Galaxy S27 Ultra use Exynos or Snapdragon?
As of The Elec’s October 2 report, Samsung had not settled whether—or in what proportion—the S27 Ultra would use Exynos 2700. The report says Samsung’s Mobile eXperience (MX) division has final decision-making authority and is weighing performance and thermal validation, Qualcomm pricing, and available capacity at Samsung Foundry’s SF2P process.

The Elec expects Exynos 2700 in the S27, S27+, and S27 Pro in Korea and Europe, and Snapdragon 8 Elite 6th-generation chips in the United States, China, and other markets. These are reported expectations, not confirmed regional specifications.
Two reports describe different stages of the Ultra decision:
| Report date and source | What it says about the Ultra | What that establishes |
|---|---|---|
| September 1, 2026, MoneyToday | Samsung reportedly ordered S27 Ultra mainboards with Exynos 2700 and was developing Snapdragon versions in parallel, suggesting Exynos could be used in selected countries such as South Korea. MoneyToday report | Reported development of Exynos-equipped boards, not a final shipping configuration. |
| October 2, 2026, The Elec | The Ultra’s Exynos adoption ratio remained undecided. The Elec report | A later report that final allocation was still open; it does not prove the earlier board-development report was false. |
Samsung’s official Galaxy S26 launch information provides context, not an answer about the S27: it lists Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy and Exynos 2600 for the S26 and S26+, and says application-processor type varies by device and market. Samsung’s Galaxy S26 announcement

Does the reported Exynos benchmark prove it is faster?
No. The Elec says an internal Geekbench 6 test showed the Exynos 2700 scoring 9.5% higher in multi-core performance than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme 6th-generation chip. It cites Snapdragon scores of 4,308 single-core and 12,856 multi-core, then estimates an Exynos multi-core score above 14,000. The Exynos result is described as internal testing, and the above-14,000 figure is an estimate derived from the reported percentage—not a verified Exynos score or an independently reproduced comparison. The Elec’s benchmark reporting
The same report says Exynos single-core performance is still estimated to trail. Neither that estimate nor the multi-core claim tells readers how an S27 Ultra would perform in daily use: there are no retail-device tests in the sources reviewed.
Why one CPU score cannot settle the comparison
A mobile application processor, or SoC, integrates several components, including CPU, GPU, image signal processor, neural-processing unit, and modem. Samsung’s processor FAQ describes these functions, which is why a single CPU benchmark cannot establish the overall experience. Samsung’s processor FAQ

For a meaningful phone comparison, reviewers would need to assess sustained performance under load, heat, power use, and broader system performance—not just a reported multi-core result. The Elec’s report identifies thermal validation and cost among the factors MX is considering, but does not provide completed S27 Ultra testing.

The Elec reports that Exynos 2700 uses Samsung Foundry’s SF2P process and describes claimed improvements over SF2: 12% higher performance, 25% lower power consumption, and 8% smaller chip area. These are process-level comparisons reported by The Elec. They are not measurements of a completed Exynos 2700 or an S27 Ultra, and they cannot establish real-world battery life, temperatures, or speed.
The report also estimates possible Exynos 2700 benchmark scores by applying process gains to Exynos 2600 scores. Such extrapolations are not test results. Until Samsung confirms the processor and independent reviewers test finished phones, the figures should be treated as reported development claims rather than a settled comparison with Snapdragon.
Quick Recap
What is confirmed, and what remains uncertain
- Reported: The Elec says Exynos 2700 wafer production has begun and planned volume is more than 10% above the Exynos 2600 target.
- Not officially confirmed: Samsung’s reviewed official processor catalog lists current products such as Exynos 2600, but not Exynos 2700. The catalog’s omission is not proof that the chip does not exist. Samsung’s processor catalog
- Still open: The Elec says the S27 Ultra’s Exynos allocation had not been decided as of October 2, 2026.
- Not independently established: The reported 9.5% multi-core advantage comes from internal testing cited by The Elec; no independently reproduced Exynos 2700 result appears in the sources reviewed.
