Size, cooking capacity and placement
At 550 mm wide and 700 mm deep with the hood closed, the 4K needs a substantial, stable outdoor position. Everdure’s product FAQ describes a 46 cm cooking diameter and a four-piece cooking area of 429.5 square inches. Because the specification page separately lists 1,418 cm² and CHOICE lists 0.16 m², treat those FAQ dimensions as an additional description of the grate arrangement, not as a replacement for the published area figures.
The manufacturer says to place the unit in shade protected from wind and rain. Its FAQ states, “The 4K should not be used in direct sunlight.” Shade also helps the display remain readable and limits weather exposure, but it does not make the appliance suitable for an enclosed room. The US FAQ says the 4K cannot be used indoors.

How the charcoal and electric systems work together
Charcoal remains the heat source
The 4K’s cooking character starts with charcoal. Everdure recommends natural lump charcoal for optimum performance. That recommendation has practical consequences: you need a dry supply of charcoal, a safe way to store it and time to light and manage a live fire. Charcoal is also an ongoing consumable cost, while the product’s electricity use is concentrated in ignition and electronics rather than replacing the fuel.
Fast Flame electric ignition
Everdure calls the ignition system Fast Flame. The Australian FAQ specifies a 1,400 W draw for less than 10 minutes during ignition, followed by very low wattage. The US wording describes 1,400 W while the element is running. These are manufacturer statements for their respective pages, not an independent energy measurement. Connect the barbecue only as instructed for your region and electrical supply.
Airflow and charcoal access
Airflow vents let the operator influence the fire, while a side hatch allows charcoal to be reloaded without treating the whole cooking surface as the access point. The pages supplied do not quantify the temperature range, vent positions or the speed of heat changes, so do not assume that digital controls make the grill behave like a set-and-forget gas oven.

- Fit the cooking hardware. Select the cast-iron or stainless-steel grills, or install the 33 cm pizza stone when appropriate. Use the supplied grabber and tongs for hot components and charcoal.
- Place probes deliberately. Use the food probes for the items you are monitoring and the clip for a representative grill position. Keep probe cables clear of hinges, hot edges and moving parts.
- Pair Bluetooth if desired. Connect the 4K app according to the current regional guide. Treat the app as a monitoring aid, not a substitute for safe supervision of a live charcoal fire.
- Control the fire. Adjust the airflow vents and use the hood and side hatch as intended. The exact vent settings and cooking times depend on the recipe, charcoal and weather, so record what works for your setup.
- Shut down and store. Follow the manual’s extinguishing and cool-down instructions. Once cold, clean and protect the barbecue; do not leave it uncovered in continuing damp conditions.
