The Eve Smart Weather Station can report temperature, humidity, and other environmental readings—then show those values inside Google Home. The catch is that Google Home only displays what it receives through the supported device interface (most reliably via Matter).
This guide focuses on the practical path to get temperature added to Google Home so you can check it on demand and use it in automations and routines.

What it means to add temperature to Google Home
When people say “add the temperature,” they usually mean one of these:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- The temperature sensor appears as a device (or as a sensor entity) in the Google Home app.
- Google can show a live temperature value when you ask a voice assistant or open device details.
- Temperature can be used in routines (where supported) or displayed in dashboards.
Under the hood, Google Home needs a cloud/bridge or a local protocol representation of the sensor. For Eve devices, Matter is the most consistent route for modern Google Home setups.

Prerequisites (don’t skip these)
1) The Eve Smart Weather Station supports the right protocol
Eve Weather Station support varies by model and firmware. If it supports Matter, you’ll see a clear path inside the Eve app and Apple Home for Matter device exposure.
2) You have an Apple home hub for Matter
Matter exposure from Apple Home to other ecosystems requires a compatible hub running recent software. Typically, that means one of these:
- Apple TV 4K (2nd gen or later) or Apple TV HD
- HomePod (any model that supports as a hub in your setup)
- Home hub on iPad (works differently and depends on version/settings)
Use the same Apple account (Apple ID) that owns the Eve Weather Station in the Apple Home app.

3) You have a working Google Home setup
Make sure your phone is on the latest Google Home app version and you can add devices normally.
4) Wi‑Fi and firmware sanity
Keep the Eve Weather Station within Wi‑Fi range and let it finish its initial setup cycle. If the device is flapping between states (offline/online), temperature visibility often fails.
Step 1: Set up the Eve Smart Weather Station correctly
If the station isn’t already added to Apple Home, do that first—Google Home can’t “see” it until it exists in a Matter-aware ecosystem.
- Open the Eve app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Add the Eve Smart Weather Station and complete the pairing flow (follow on-screen prompts).
- After it connects, confirm you see live readings in the Eve app (especially temperature).
- If readings don’t update, fix connectivity first (move the hub closer, check Wi‑Fi, and ensure the station isn’t in setup limbo).
Step 2: Confirm the device and temperature sensor are exposed in the Apple home
Even when the station is added, the sensor may not be exposed to Matter correctly. The goal is to confirm temperature is recognized as a functional capability.

Step 3: Connect to Google Home using Matter (recommended)
Matter is the most reliable way to get sensor values into Google Home when using Eve. The core idea: you add the Eve device to Google Home via Google Home’s Matter device discovery.
- On your Android phone (or iPhone with Google Home installed), open the Google Home app.
- Tap Add (+ icon).
- Select Set up device.
- Choose Works with Google or Matter depending on your app version. If you see a dedicated Matter option, select it.
- Follow the pairing flow. When prompted, start discovery and keep the Eve Weather Station powered and reachable.
- When discovery finds the device, select the Eve Weather Station and finish the prompts.
After pairing, Google Home should create a device entry that includes the temperature sensor capability.
Step 4: Verify the temperature entity shows up in Google Home
Don’t assume it’s working—verify. Google Home sometimes creates the device but not all capabilities (or it delays updates).
- Open Google Home.
- Go to Devices.
- Select Eve Smart Weather Station.
- Look for a sensor card or measurement field such as Temperature.
- Check if the value updates when the temperature changes (or compare it to Eve app readings for 5–10 minutes).
If temperature appears but stays stuck, proceed to the troubleshooting section.
Step 5: Name the temperature and use it in automations
Clear naming helps you avoid confusion when you have multiple sensors.
- In Google Home, open Device settings for the Eve Weather Station.
- Rename it to something like Weather Station (Living Room).
- If Google allows editing sensor labels, rename the Temperature reading to match the room.
- For automations, create a routine that triggers based on available sensor conditions (support depends on Google Home’s current routine features for sensors).
For voice checks, try a direct test like asking the assistant what the temperature is for that device name. If it answers with a number that matches Eve, you’re good.
Alternatives if temperature still doesn’t show
If you can’t get temperature into Google Home, there are a few other angles. Use these when Matter pairing completes but the temperature capability doesn’t appear.

Use a Home bridge that exposes temperature via a compatible interface
Some setups rely on bridges or integrators that translate HomeKit/Matter sensor capabilities. This can work, but it adds complexity and can affect reliability.

Confirm firmware updates
Eve devices and Apple hubs both receive updates that fix Matter advertisement and sensor reporting. If you’re on older iOS or an older Apple TV Home hub, update and retry device discovery.
Repair on Google Home after removing the device
When Google created an incomplete device definition, removing and re-adding often forces a capability refresh.
- In Google Home, remove the Eve Weather Station device entry.
- Wait 1–2 minutes.
- Re-run Matter discovery and pair again.
Troubleshooting checklist (fast fixes)
Use this in order. Most failures are caused by hub connectivity, incomplete discovery, or temporary sensor reporting issues.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →1) Ensure the Apple hub is online
Matter device exposure from Apple Home requires a reachable hub. If it’s offline, Google may pair but won’t get updates.
- Open the Apple Home app.
- Check the hub status.
- Reboot the Apple TV 4K or HomePod if needed.
2) Power cycle the Eve Weather Station
Restarting the sensor forces it to re-advertise and re-establish connections.
- Unplug or power-cycle the weather station (follow Eve’s power guidance).
- Wait 60–120 seconds.
- Check live readings in the Eve app.
- Then refresh the Google Home device details.
3) Refresh Google Home device state
In the Google Home app, open the device and pull to refresh (or re-open the device details page). Some UI versions update only when you re-open the entity view.
4) Re-run Matter pairing
- Remove the device from Google Home.
- On Google Home, run Add → Set up device → Matter discovery again.
5) Check time and location settings
Sensor reporting can look “broken” when time sync or network time is off. Verify your phone and Apple hub have correct time settings.
6) Compare values: Eve app vs Apple Home vs Google Home
If Eve app shows accurate temperature but Google doesn’t, it’s a transport/exposure issue. If Eve app is also stale, fix the station connectivity first.

| Where temperature is broken | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| Eve app shows stale temp | Station connectivity or battery/power issue | Power-cycle, check Wi‑Fi range, verify station remains “online” |
| Apple Home shows stale temp | Apple hub exposure problem | Check hub status, restart hub, update iOS/macOS/tvOS |
| Apple Home OK, Google Home missing temperature | Incomplete Matter discovery/capability mapping | Remove and re-add via Matter, update Google Home app |
| Google Home shows temperature but it doesn’t update | Local network path or reporting delay | Re-pair, reboot Eve station, confirm hub online |
Common mistakes that prevent temperature from appearing
- Pairing to Google Home before Matter exposure is stable. If the hub isn’t online yet, Google may create a partial entry.
- Believing “device added” equals “sensor capability added.” Verify that a Temperature reading exists in the device details.
- Using multiple Apple homes or accounts unintentionally. Ensure the Eve station is in the same Apple Home tied to your Matter hub.
- Not updating firmware/software. Matter behavior improves with updates. Old versions can cause missing sensor fields.
- Leaving the station in a flaky Wi‑Fi zone. Weak Wi‑Fi can produce intermittent reporting that Google interprets as unavailable.
Comparison: Matter vs other integration paths
Matter is designed for direct device capability sharing. That’s why it tends to work better for sensor values like temperature.
| Approach | What Google Home can show | Typical reliability for temperature | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Matter (recommended) | Temperature and other sensor attributes when supported | High, when hub and discovery are correct | Most Eve Smart Weather Station users |
| Other bridges/integrators | Depends on translation layer | Variable; can break after updates | Advanced users who want custom routing |
| Cloud-only paths | May show readings if the platform supports it | Often less direct for local sensor UI | Environments that rely on vendor ecosystems |
If your goal is simply “temperature in Google Home,” Matter plus a healthy Apple home hub is usually the shortest path.
FAQ
Why does the Eve Weather Station show up in Google Home, but temperature is missing?
That usually means the device was discovered before Matter exposed the temperature capability properly, or Google created a partial entity. Remove the device in Google Home and re-add via Matter discovery after verifying live temperature in Eve and Apple Home.
Does Google Home show humidity from the Eve Weather Station too?
If the Matter exposure includes humidity (and your specific Eve Weather Station model supports it), Google Home can display it as another sensor field. Use the device details page to confirm whether humidity appears alongside temperature.
What iPhone/iPad or iOS version do I need?
You don’t need a specific iPhone model, but you do need a modern iOS setup that supports the current Apple Home and Matter requirements. Keep iOS updated and ensure your Apple hub is running the latest compatible tvOS/HomePod software.
Will a reboot fix it?
Often, yes—starting with the Apple hub (Apple TV 4K/HomePod) and then power-cycling the Eve station. If temperature is stale across all apps, rebooting the station is the fastest likely fix.
Can I use temperature in Google Home routines?
Routine features depend on your Google Home app version and account. If routines support temperature-based conditions for your device type, you should see temperature as an available condition once the sensor capability is exposed.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsBottom Line
To add Eve Smart Weather Station temperature to Google Home, the key is making sure the sensor is correctly exposed via Matter from your Apple Home hub, then pairing it in Google Home and verifying that a Temperature field appears and updates.
If it doesn’t, work through hub status, device power cycling, and removing/re-adding the device in Google Home—those steps solve the majority of “missing temperature” cases.
