EVANGELION: Δ CROSS REFLECTIONS, a VR and mixed-reality game with a new player-centered story woven into the Neon Genesis Evangelion TV anime timeline, is currently reported for sometime in 2027. No exact launch date, headset, or platform had been announced in September 2026 reporting. Although the project has been described as an alternate-universe retelling, Pixelity’s official description is more specific: it calls the story a new one set within the timeline of all 26 anime episodes.

Pixelity revealed the project’s title on September 5, 2025, describing it as a VR and mixed-reality game built around familiar Evangelion locations, interactive elements, and battles between Evangelions and Angels. Its premise places the player among trainees from varied backgrounds and with hidden motives who are seeking to join NERV. The story is experienced from the protagonist’s perspective: someone who dreams of becoming a pilot.

Pixelity called it “a new story set within the timeline of all 26 episodes” of the TV anime. That wording points to an original player character and narrative alongside the series’ events, rather than a straightforward playable retelling of the anime.

When is the Evangelion VR game coming out?
The latest reported window is sometime in 2027, according to Road to VR on September 1, 2026. Pixelity’s September 2025 announcement had initially slated the first game for 2026, so the later report reflects a changed schedule. Neither source establishes a specific day or month; treat 2027 as a reported window, not a guaranteed launch date.

Is it really an alternate-universe retelling?
“Alternate-universe retelling” goes further than the developer’s published description supports. Pixelity says the first game’s story takes place within the TV series’ 26-episode timeline, blending episodes 1–11 with new game-original narrative content. The planned project is described as a trilogy, with that first installment focused on the opening 11 episodes.
This supports describing the game as an alternate perspective on events or a new player-centered story woven into the anime timeline. The cited material does not establish that it creates a wholly separate continuity, replaces the anime’s story, or changes its canon.
