The map then shows the dealership locations that are relevant to your current save and installed map content. This is more reliable than copying a city list from an older guide, because map reworks and DLC can change what appears in a given version.

For your first purchase, compare the new trucks shown by the dealers you have discovered with your available funds and preferred driving style. If money is tight, the used-truck screen in the main menu offers cheaper vehicles, but you must account for mileage, wear, the star rating and the detailed damage report.

Dealerships are map points, so the quickest method is to use the game’s legend rather than search roads manually. SCS Software introduced World Map Legend Filters in the Euro Truck Simulator 2 1.43 update (December 2021) specifically to make points such as dealerships easier to locate.
- Open the World Map. Use the map command from your normal in-game menu.
- Open the map legend or legend-filter panel. This is the control that lets you show or hide classes of map icons.
- Enable the dealership entry. Turn on the truck-dealer or dealership icon so those markers remain visible while other map symbols are filtered.
- Inspect the markers in your save. Zoom in on a marker to identify its city and the manufacturer represented there, then set a route if you want to drive to it.
- Check the dealer interface for the brand you want. If you are looking for a particular manufacturer, use the locations and options visible in your own game rather than assuming every city has every brand.
The filter shows discovered, available map information; it does not turn every location in every DLC into a universal list. A marker can therefore differ between two players who have different map expansions, different save progress or a different game version.

Why a fixed city-by-city list goes out of date
There is no dependable, official, current list that names every dealership city across the base game and all map DLC. SCS’s official project information identifies the truck manufacturers, while the in-game map reflects the locations included in your installation and the version of the map data.
Map content is still being revised. In the 1.59 update announcement (May 6, 2026), SCS described the Benelux rework and specifically listed the DAF Trucks facility in Eindhoven. That example illustrates why an older guide can point to an outdated road layout or omit a newly refreshed facility. If a written location conflicts with your map, trust the current map marker and the content installed in your profile.

Which truck brands can you buy?
SCS’s Euro Truck Simulator 2 project page lists seven licensed truck manufacturers. The list is a supported roster, not a promise that every model or dealer is available in every city, save or DLC combination.

The roster does not establish an objective winner. The official material confirms licensed trucks and customization, but it does not provide a current, standardized performance comparison covering every model. That means claims such as “this is the best truck for everyone” go beyond the available evidence.
How to choose a new truck
A new-truck decision is mainly a budget-and-preference decision. Use the dealer screen as a comparison tool instead of choosing by badge alone.
Start with the money you can actually spend
Set a purchase limit before opening individual configurations. Leave room for the rest of the costs your profile may face, rather than treating the displayed truck price as the only number that matters. If a configuration consumes your entire cash balance, a cheaper specification or a used truck may leave you in a safer position.
Compare the options shown by your dealers
Open several available dealer entries and compare the cab, chassis and engine choices that the game presents. The exact combination of options is what matters for your save; a manufacturer’s presence on the official roster does not mean every variant is sold at every location.

Match the truck to how you drive
Think about the routes you actually run and the controls you prefer. A driver who values a particular cab layout or customization path may reasonably choose differently from a driver focused on a different feel. Because the reviewed official sources do not publish a single cross-model test under common conditions, use the in-game specifications and your own priorities rather than an unsupported universal ranking.
Use a repeatable comparison checklist
- Is the purchase price inside your planned budget?
- Does the available cab and chassis arrangement suit your normal routes?
- Do the engine and transmission choices shown by the dealer fit the driving style you want?
- Are the customization options worth the additional cost for your use?
- Will buying now leave enough funds for normal operating expenses in your profile?
Write down the choices that matter to you, then compare the same categories across two or three trucks. This avoids mistaking a striking exterior or a familiar logo for a complete buying decision.
Are used trucks worth buying?
Used trucks are a legitimate budget option, not a hidden performance tier. SCS’s 1.49 update announcement, published November 28, 2023, says used trucks are available immediately from the main menu and are more budget-friendly than brand-new vehicles. They also arrive with mileage and wear.
From the main menu, open the used-truck selection to see the vehicles currently offered. Before confirming a purchase, inspect both the rating and the condition details.

Read the star rating and damage window together
The used-truck listing includes a star rating, while a separate window provides a detailed breakdown of damage to parts. The stars are a quick condition signal; the breakdown tells you where the condition problems are. Neither should be treated as a complete ownership-cost calculation, so compare the lower purchase price with the repairs you may need after buying.

Used-truck buying sequence
- Open the used-truck selection from the main menu.
- Sort the candidates mentally by price and note the mileage shown for each.
- Check the star rating for a quick condition comparison.
- Open the detailed damage view and identify the affected parts.
- Decide whether the money saved at purchase justifies the wear and likely repair work.
- Buy only after checking that the remaining funds still fit your plan.

A special location that is not a normal dealer
The Volvo Trucks Experience Center in Gothenburg, Sweden, should not be confused with an ordinary truck-purchasing dealership. SCS describes it as an explorable driving facility with a circuit. The Scandinavia DLC is required to visit it.
In practical terms, the Experience Center is a destination for exploration and driving, while a dealership marker is the location category you use when shopping for a truck. Seeing a manufacturer-branded facility does not by itself mean that the location offers the standard purchase interface.
Controls: steering wheel and gamepad support
ETS2 supports optional driving hardware. SCS’s 1.51 update announcement (September 2024) says title-screen navigation is more comfortable with a gamepad or steering wheel and requires less time reaching for a keyboard after launching the game. This makes a steering wheel or gamepad a sensible accessory category for players who want a more simulator-focused control setup.

That support does not establish that every wheel, pedal set, console adapter or connector will work in every PC configuration. Verify compatibility for the hardware and operating system you plan to use before buying. The official material supports the category, not a particular device, current retailer listing or performance claim.
Troubleshooting dealer searches
No dealership icons appear
- Reopen the World Map and check that the dealership item is enabled in Legend Filters.
- Zoom out and inspect the map area covered by your current save and installed DLC.
- Confirm that you are looking at the current game version, especially after a map rework.
A guide names a city that you cannot find
Do not assume your game is broken. The guide may describe an older map layout, a different DLC set or a location that has been reworked. Use the marker displayed by your own map as the current reference.
The truck you want is not offered
Check other discovered dealership markers and the dealer interface itself. The official manufacturer roster does not guarantee that every model or configuration appears at every location. If budget is the obstacle, compare the used-truck candidates and inspect their condition details before deciding.
Bottom line for first-time buyers
Find dealers through World Map Legend Filters, verify locations in your own save, and treat city lists as version- and DLC-dependent hints rather than a permanent directory. For a new truck, compare the dealer options against your budget and driving preferences; there is no officially established universal best model. For a cheaper entry, inspect a used truck’s mileage, wear, star rating and part-by-part damage before purchase. Keep the Gothenburg Volvo Trucks Experience Center separate from ordinary dealers, and treat steering wheels or gamepads as optional controls whose compatibility must be checked for your setup.
