Etihad’s A380 First Apartment is a private First Class suite with a lounge chair, a separate bed, personal vanity and access to onboard showers. But a genuinely “brutally honest” review requires firsthand details—route, date, seat, price and observations—that are not available here. So this is a candid guide to what Etihad says the Apartment includes, what a recent traveler reported, and what you should verify before booking; it does not pretend to be a personal flight review.
What is the Etihad A380 First Apartment?
The First Apartment is Etihad’s A380 First Class cabin product. Etihad describes it as a spacious, private living space with a large leather lounge chair, a separate bed and a personal vanity. The airline also lists privacy doors, a seat that reclines into a fully flat bed, turn-down service, a natural-fibre mattress, duvet and pillow, designer loungewear, a touchscreen and USB charging. These are the airline’s stated features, not independently tested observations.

First Apartment is not The Residence
The Residence is a separate, three-room product with a living area, bedroom and ensuite shower. It is not another name for the First Apartment. Check the exact product shown for your flight rather than assuming that every A380 First booking includes The Residence’s layout or facilities. Etihad’s First cabin page distinguishes its products.

What can—and can’t—be said about the experience
The separate chair and bed are the defining practical distinction in Etihad’s description: the Apartment is presented as a living space as well as a place to sleep, rather than just a seat that converts into a bed. Privacy doors, a vanity and onboard shower access are also part of the airline’s stated proposition. The available product information does not establish how comfortable the chair or bed feels, how quiet or private the suite is in practice, or how service and meals compare with other airlines.
A recent creator report offers one dated example, not a universal verdict. ST Travel reported flying Abu Dhabi–Tokyo in seat 4A in July 2026, with a stated fare of AED 22,955 (USD 6,250), and described dining, the onboard lounge, bed, shower and breakfast. Those details belong to that creator’s itinerary and report; the fare is neither a current quote nor evidence of a typical price. See ST Travel’s July 2026 flight report.

Etihad’s A380 information lists London, Tokyo, Toronto, Paris and Singapore among destinations served on selected A380 flights. “Selected” matters: a city-pair listing does not mean every flight or frequency uses the A380, and aircraft assignments can change. - Search the exact date and flight number on Etihad’s booking site and confirm the aircraft is listed as an A380.
- Check that the selected flight offers the First Apartment, rather than relying on a route-level description or an older trip report.
- Recheck the aircraft and cabin close to departure, since published schedules and aircraft assignments may change.
Is the First Apartment worth it?
There is no honest universal yes-or-no without the itinerary and price. The product may appeal if having a separate lounge chair and bed, a private suite and access to an A380 shower are priorities—and if the fare or points required make sense for your own budget. Etihad’s feature list cannot establish whether the service, food, sleep or shower will justify a particular premium, and one traveler’s fare cannot establish market value.
For a real booking decision, compare the exact flights on six points: the seat and sleeping arrangement, privacy and usable space, shower and other onboard amenities, ground experience, aircraft certainty, and the cash or points cost for your itinerary. The available information supports Etihad’s cabin and route descriptions, but does not establish a competitor ranking or current market pricing.

What a truly firsthand review would need
A review claiming personal experience should disclose the route, travel date, seat, fare or award cost, and the author’s own observations of service, food, sleep, shower, privacy and value. Without those trip specifics, calling this a firsthand or “brutally honest” review would overstate what is known. Treat the cabin features above as Etihad’s description and dated trip reports as their authors’ accounts.
