Eternal Anima is not released yet. Despite the “After an hour…” framing sometimes used for the announcement, there is no playable public review build, no finished first-hour verdict and no Steam user-review record. Marvelous has announced the JRPG for a worldwide launch on March 4, 2027, with a story about changing history and combat built around predicting enemy actions.
What Eternal Anima is
Marvelous describes Eternal Anima as a new JRPG inspired by the genre’s golden era. Its central premise links several eras of one world: Wade travels through time, meets ancestors and descendants, and works to “save the past to free the present.” That setup makes history an active part of the adventure rather than only background lore. Choices and discoveries in earlier periods are intended to matter to the present the player is trying to liberate.

Wade’s Psychometry allows him to read memories embedded in objects. Those memories can reveal the lives of earlier heroes and let the party inherit their abilities and classes. In practical terms, an item found during exploration may be more than a key or story prop: it can connect the current party to a predecessor and expand how a character develops.

The announced system raises several questions that can only be answered once the game is playable. The important tests will be whether searching for memories meaningfully changes party-building decisions, how freely inherited classes can be combined, and whether the historical links affect exploration as often as they affect combat. Marvelous has not yet published enough hands-on material to settle those points.
Future Sight adds prediction to turn-based battles
Future Sight is the battle system’s planning layer. Marvelous says players can predict what enemies will do, then issue countercommands that delay or cancel those moves. Instead of selecting attacks from a menu without seeing the immediate threat, players are expected to read the upcoming turn and spend their commands to control its timing.

That could make ordinary encounters more deliberate and give bosses a stronger puzzle-like rhythm. It could also slow battles if every routine enemy requires repeated prediction. Whether Future Sight becomes a meaningful tactical choice or a frequent interruption will depend on encounter design, resource limits and how clearly enemy intentions are communicated. Those are review questions for a later build, not qualities that can be confirmed from the announcement.

Marvelous has announced a worldwide release on March 4, 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam.

Steam currently displays March 3, 2027, one day earlier than the publisher’s announcement. The difference may reflect regional store timing or a platform listing convention. For general release-date information, Marvelous’s March 4 date is the canonical date; check your local storefront as launch approaches if you need the exact unlock time.
Steam also states that the game is not yet available and currently has no user reviews. Those details are why Eternal Anima should be treated as an upcoming release rather than a game with a completed review record.

What is still unknown
No public material establishes the final length, performance targets, save-system details, accessibility options, voice-language support, downloadable-content plans or a complete list of editions. There is also no independent evidence yet about how the past-and-present structure is paced, how many eras are playable, or how Psychometry affects the ending.
- Story: The confirmed hook is a time-spanning mission involving ancestors, descendants and the goal of freeing the present by saving the past.
- Progression: Psychometry is confirmed to read object memories and pass down abilities and classes, but the full rules have not been explained.
- Combat: Future Sight is designed to predict, delay or cancel enemy actions in turn-based encounters; its depth and speed remain unverified.
- Quality: There is no finished review build or user-review consensus from which to draw a verdict.
How to follow the launch without confusing announcements for reviews
- Use March 4, 2027 as the publisher’s general worldwide date, while checking your regional Steam or console listing for the local unlock time.
- Choose a platform based on the announced availability: Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S or Steam.
- For a physical copy, verify whether the listing is standard or limited and confirm the contents, price and stock before paying.
- Wait for independent coverage of a playable build before judging the pacing of the timelines, the usefulness of inherited classes or the speed of Future Sight battles.
Why the announcement is promising—and why a verdict must wait
Eternal Anima has a clear identity on paper. Psychometry ties the world’s objects to character growth, while Future Sight asks players to anticipate an opponent instead of simply selecting the strongest available attack. The historical premise also gives the developers a way to connect exploration, party progression and story consequences.
Those ideas are reasons to watch the game, not proof that it delivers a great first hour. Until the announced 2027 release or an earlier playable build, the accurate conclusion is narrower: Eternal Anima is an upcoming Marvelous JRPG with an unusually explicit focus on inherited memories and predictive turn-based combat, and there is not yet enough evidence for a finished review judgment.
