How Future Sight combat works
Future Sight is the defining combat mechanic. The Steam description presents it as a way to “foresee enemy actions and strategically rewrite the future.” In practical terms, the battle gives you visible information about an opponent’s intended action and its expected outcome before you commit to your command. You then choose whether to answer that threat, interrupt it, or pursue a different tactical line.
Read the prediction before selecting a command
The important distinction from a conventional hidden turn order is that your decision is based on an on-screen forecast. Instead of guessing whether an enemy will attack, defend, or use another action, you are expected to inspect the predicted exchange and decide how to alter it. The announced system is therefore about planning around information rather than reacting after damage has already happened.
Two announced responses: defend or strike first
Official material specifically identifies raising your defenses and striking first to disrupt the opponent as possible responses. A defensive choice is the straightforward answer when the forecast shows a dangerous incoming action. An offensive choice attempts to change the exchange before the predicted enemy move resolves. The best response will depend on the class and abilities Wade has inherited, but the game has not published exact damage formulas, interruption rules, status effects, or resource costs.

- Inspect the forecast. Treat the displayed enemy action and expected result as the information that defines the current decision.
- Identify the immediate risk. Decide whether the forecast represents damage, a disruption, or another threat. The published material does not name every possible enemy effect, so do not assume a complete status list.
- Choose an answer that changes the exchange. Raise defenses when survival is the priority, or use an available attack to try to disrupt the predicted action.
- Account for your inherited toolkit. Select the class or ability whose announced role best addresses the visible situation. Exact class behavior will only be clear once more details are published.
- Review the new situation. Future Sight is presented as an ongoing way to rewrite the next exchange, not as a single introductory tutorial trick. Continue basing each command on the information the game reveals.
This approach means a strong player should value reliable information and flexible answers, not simply the highest listed attack. However, there is no published initiative formula, action queue, accuracy model, difficulty setting, party-AI behavior, or numerical advantage for any particular response.
What to compare when builds become available
Once hands-on details exist, compare inherited options along four useful axes. First, identify what each class actually contributes: attacks, defenses, utility, or another role documented in the game. Second, test how individual abilities interact with the enemy actions Future Sight reveals. Third, measure the exploration cost and availability of the memory-bearing objects needed to obtain an option. Fourth, examine how freely classes and abilities can be combined. These comparisons will be more meaningful than ranking classes by names or story associations alone.
What Future Sight does not tell us yet
Several details that would normally appear in a combat guide remain unpublished. The following table separates the announced concept from mechanics that should not be treated as facts.
| System detail | Current status |
|---|---|
| Enemy action preview | Confirmed as the central Future Sight feature. |
| Expected result shown before commitment | Confirmed by the official description of foreseeing actions and rewriting the future. |
| Defensive response | Raised defenses are an announced option. |
| Pre-emptive disruption | Striking first to disrupt the opponent is announced. |
| Exact turn order or initiative | Not stated. |
| Damage and healing formulas | Not stated. |
| Status effects and resistances | Not stated. |
| Action points, mana, or other combat resources | Not stated. |
| Party size and party-controlled characters | Not stated. |
| Difficulty modes | Not stated. |
That uncertainty matters when evaluating previews, trailers, or future build advice. A screenshot can establish that a forecast exists, but it cannot establish how often it appears, whether every action can be interrupted, or which classes are best until those rules are documented.

Psychometry: how exploration feeds progression
Psychometry is Wade’s ability to decipher memories that dwell within objects. Those memories are not only lore entries. Marvelous describes them as the means by which Wade inherits abilities and classes in combat, and Steam ties them to the forgotten history revealed as he travels between past and present.
The announced exploration-to-combat loop
- Explore a region. Search the environments you reach during the journey rather than treating them as scenery that exists only between battles.
- Find an object carrying a memory. The announced progression path depends on memory-bearing objects; the game has not published a complete object list or a rule for how frequently they appear.
- Use Psychometry to read the memory. Wade’s power connects the object to a past person, event, or era.
- Inherit the resulting class or ability. The recovered knowledge expands the set of tools available in combat.
- Apply the new option to your battle style. Steam says classes and abilities can be freely combined to create a unique style, although limits and restrictions have not been announced.
This makes exploration a direct progression activity. A detour to investigate an object can potentially change the options available in later battles, rather than merely adding background text to a codex.
Why memory objects matter strategically
Psychometry links three decisions that are often separate in role-playing games: where you travel, which history you investigate, and how you build Wade for combat. Finding a new memory can expand your answers to the next Future Sight forecast. Conversely, a combat problem may give you a reason to explore more thoroughly for another inherited option.
The evidence does not establish whether memories are missable, whether objects are placed in fixed locations, or whether an inherited class can be replaced. Until those rules are published, the safest planning principle is to investigate every clearly signposted memory object and avoid assuming that any one early class is permanently optimal.
Psychometry pitfalls to avoid
- Do not assume every object is interactive or grants a combat reward; only objects carrying memories are identified as progression sources.
- Do not equate a memory with a guaranteed complete class. The official wording allows for both abilities and classes, so the result may vary once the game explains its structure.
- Do not assume an object can be revisited or recovered after being missed. No missable-item or backtracking rule has been announced.
- Do not treat the history as separate from mechanics. The announced premise makes recovered memories part of Wade’s battle toolkit, not merely optional flavor.
The world: Urvis Ael, the Forbidden Sea, and four lost continents
The announced story begins in Urvis Ael, described by Steam as a false paradise where hoping for a better future is a capital offense. Wade leaves by throwing himself into the Forbidden Sea. From there, the journey moves through the past and present of four lost continents.
Urvis Ael and the Forbidden Sea establish the opening premise, while the available world reference also names Port Azurea and Ambulis among the presented regions. Those names should not be read as a complete map: the full route, region order, dungeon list, and travel system have not been published.
The past-and-present structure is relevant to gameplay because Psychometry is explicitly about memories embedded in objects. Exploring a location is therefore likely to provide both a view of its current state and a connection to the earlier heroes whose knowledge Wade can inherit. The announced material does not specify whether the player freely switches eras, whether both versions of a location are playable, or how time affects encounters.

How to read the setting without overclaiming
Urvis Ael is confirmed as the starting point, not as the only hub. Port Azurea and Ambulis are named regions, not proof of a finalized route. Likewise, “four lost continents” describes the scope of the journey but does not reveal their sizes, order, optional areas, or settlement layout. Future maps and gameplay footage should be checked for actual traversal rules rather than converted into assumptions about open-world exploration or a fixed dungeon sequence.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Classes and abilities: what inheritance means
Progression in Eternal Anima is inheritance-based rather than described as a conventional level-by-level class tree. Reading an object’s memory allows Wade to connect with an earlier hero and inherit that hero’s class or abilities. Steam says those options can be combined freely to create an individual battle style.
What you can reasonably plan for
- Build variety should come from discovery. More exploration can mean more memories and therefore more combat options.
- Classes and individual abilities are related but distinct concepts. The official wording names both, so an inherited class should not automatically be treated as a single fixed skill package.
- Future Sight increases the value of flexibility. Since the enemy’s next action is previewed, a varied toolkit may let you choose a better response to different forecasts.
- There is no confirmed best build. Without class effects, prerequisites, costs, and encounter data, ranking one combination above another would be speculation.
Rules that remain unknown
The classes reference specifically leaves the number of class slots, combination restrictions, passive rules, and complete roster unpublished. There is also no confirmed information about level requirements, upgrade costs, equipment interaction, respecialization, or whether abilities consume a shared resource. Do not rely on guides that present those values as established before the game launches or the publisher documents them.
Requirements and costs to watch for
No class prerequisite, memory requirement, currency price, experience threshold, upgrade material, or respec fee has been announced. That means a future guide should record each option’s actual acquisition condition rather than assume that every memory is immediately usable. It should also distinguish the cost of finding a memory from the cost of equipping or improving what it grants. Until those systems are shown, players should avoid farming plans, shopping lists, or level targets presented as definitive.
A sensible pre-release preparation checklist
You cannot practice Eternal Anima’s exact menus or balance before release, but you can use the announced systems to understand what to watch for in future footage and hands-on coverage.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
When evaluating combat footage
- Look for the point at which the enemy action becomes visible.
- Check whether the forecast includes an expected result or only an action label.
- Note whether a defensive command and an interrupting attack are both available in the same situation.
- Watch for evidence of costs, cooldowns, turn order, or party controls; none of these are currently confirmed.
- Record whether the forecast changes after a command and whether the game presents one enemy prediction or several. Do not generalize from a single demonstration.
When evaluating exploration footage
- Identify objects that trigger Psychometry rather than assuming every collectible grants a class.
- Track whether the memory names a specific earlier hero or era.
- Check how the resulting ability or class is added to Wade’s available options.
- Look for evidence about missed objects, fast travel, maps, and region revisits; these systems have not been announced.
- Note whether the memory scene is mandatory, optional, or tied to a particular story milestone; current announcements do not answer that question.
When planning a future build
- Record what each inherited class contributes instead of judging it by its name.
- Consider which abilities answer the enemy actions you can actually preview.
- Compare how much exploration is required to obtain a memory and whether alternatives exist.
- Wait for confirmed slot and combination rules before committing to a “best” arrangement.
- Keep separate notes for class effects, standalone abilities, passive behavior, and upgrade requirements so that a later guide does not blur those categories.
Release date, platform, and current availability
Eternal Anima is not yet available to play. Steam currently lists a planned March 3, 2027 release. Marvelous’ official page lists March 4, 2027 and identifies PC via Steam. Because the two listings differ by one day, readers should check the store page serving their region as launch approaches rather than treating either date as immutable.
The reviewed announcements establish PC via Steam as a platform. They do not confirm a console version, a physical edition, or an early-access period. No title-specific physical SKU, strategy guide, soundtrack, or retailer product has been verified, so there is no reliable buying decision beyond following the official store and publisher listings.

A date on a store page is not a promise that pre-load timing, regional unlock time, editions, or launch pricing is already settled. Those details should be checked on the official Steam listing and Marvelous page when they are published. Until then, avoid paying a third-party seller for an unverified product or assuming that a console edition will appear.

- How many class slots can Wade equip, and can those slots be expanded?
- Which classes and abilities can be combined, and are there incompatibilities?
- Do passive abilities remain active when a different class is selected?
- How are memories distributed across the four continents?
- Can a missed object be recovered later?
- How many characters participate in a battle, and who controls them?
- What are the action costs, damage formulas, status effects, and interruption rules behind Future Sight?
- Are there levels, equipment, upgrades, respecialization, or endgame unlocks?
- Does the game track memories in a collection menu, and can players review their associated heroes and eras?
- Are classes earned once per memory, or can the same option be obtained through more than one route?
- Does changing a class alter Wade’s available abilities immediately, between battles, or only at designated points?
Until those points are documented, the defensible way to describe Eternal Anima is as a turn-based RPG where visible enemy intent and exploration-driven inheritance are the central announced systems. Anything more precise should be labeled as new information from the developer or as hands-on observation after release.
