You then choose commands that rewrite that forecast. The best move is not always the one with the biggest damage number; it is the sequence that leaves the safest final timeline.
The game has not yet released, so this is a guide to the mechanics officially described so far, not a boss-by-boss walkthrough. Exact interface details, formulas and the limits of cancellation or prediction are still unannounced.

What Future Sight does in Eternal Anima
Eternal Anima uses turn-based command battles built around a visible prediction. Marvelous describes Future Sight as showing when enemies will act and what the outcome will be, then letting the player select commands that rewrite the future. The Steam description presents the same idea: foresee enemy actions and strategically alter what is about to happen.
Development director Katsuhisa Higuchi gave the most specific explanation: “In Eternal Anima‘s Future Sight Battles, you can see in advance when enemies will attack, what attacks they will use, who will take damage, and how much.” In practical terms, the forecast is more than an initiative bar. It is a proposed sequence of enemy actions and results that you can try to change before committing your turn.

That makes every command a comparison between two timelines:
- The displayed timeline: what the battle is currently predicting will happen.
- Your revised timeline: what the forecast becomes after you choose attacks, defensive commands or other interventions.
Higuchi’s example is straightforward: if a powerful enemy is predicted to land a dangerous hit, focus on defeating that enemy first. Once the attacker is gone, the lethal event shown in the original forecast no longer occurs. The system therefore rewards avoided damage and removed threats, not just damage dealt this instant.
How to read a battle vision
1. Find the first action that can make the turn unsafe
Read the forecast from the earliest enemy action onward. Do not begin with the largest damage value later in the sequence if an earlier stun, disabling attack or moderate hit will prevent your party from responding. The first event that can put the party in an unrecoverable position is the one your plan must address.
2. Confirm the target
A predicted attack matters differently depending on who is hit. Check the named target, that character’s current HP, defensive state and access to recovery. A survivable strike against a healthy character may need no interruption; the same strike against a low-HP support character can require an immediate change to the timeline.
3. Read the projected damage as a decision input
Use the displayed amount to compare survival with prevention. If the forecasted damage is clearly survivable and you can recover afterward, a defensive command may be more efficient than spending multiple actions to remove the threat. If the amount would defeat the target or leave the party unable to answer the next event, prevention becomes the priority.
4. Test a command that changes the forecast
Choose a plausible intervention—defend or prepare, defeat the attacker, strike before it acts, delay the action or cancel it when the command allows—and inspect the resulting prediction. The important information is the revised sequence, not the animation or the immediate damage number.

5. Commit only after checking the final sequence
Re-read the forecast after your planned commands. A move that removes one attack can expose the party to another, and a high-damage attack can leave an enemy alive to perform the same dangerous action later. Judge the complete displayed outcome that follows your commands.

The following framework uses the roles confirmed in the published system descriptions. Exact resource costs, ranges, timing distances and command names may differ in the released game.
| Choice | Use it when | What it changes | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Defend or prepare | The predicted hit is survivable and preserving HP or readiness improves the next exchange. | You endure the forecasted event with a safer party state. | You spend an action without removing the attacker; later attacks remain possible. |
| Defeat or pre-empt | One enemy is responsible for a lethal, disabling or otherwise decisive action. | Removing the enemy erases its future actions from the sequence. | You must meet the damage, targeting and timing requirements before it acts. |
| Delay | Moving an enemy’s action later gives allies time to heal, set up or defeat it. | The action remains in the timeline but occurs farther after your chosen commands. | The exact distance moved is not publicly established, and the threat may return. |
| Cancel | The available command can remove the enemy’s next action and the action is eligible for cancellation. | The selected event disappears rather than merely moving. | There is no published universal cancellation list or interrupt probability. |
| Weakness or Break | The enemy’s weakness makes a turn-order change worth more than raw damage. | Weakness hits can push an enemy action later; pushing it far enough may remove it. | Break thresholds and formulas have not been published. |
A repeatable Future Sight battle workflow
- Pause at the forecast. Treat the prediction as the starting state for the decision, not as a result you must accept.
- Mark the earliest dangerous event. Note the acting enemy, attack type if shown, target and predicted damage.
- Check the target’s margin. Compare projected damage with current HP, defensive options and whether a recovery action can follow.
- Identify the cause. Determine which enemy or event creates the danger. If one attacker is responsible, removing or moving that attacker is usually more efficient than spreading damage.
- Generate at least two responses. Compare a safety response (defend or prepare) with an intervention (defeat, delay or cancel). Include a weakness or Break option when the matchup supports it.
- Apply the response that changes the timeline. Select the command or command sequence that addresses the marked event, not merely the one with the highest displayed damage.
- Inspect the updated forecast. Check whether the original hit vanished, moved, became survivable or was replaced by another threat.
- Lock in only when the whole sequence is acceptable. A safe first event is not enough if the revised timeline creates a worse second event.
What to do when the vision says a character will die
First, verify that the prediction is truly lethal
Compare the predicted damage with the target’s current HP and any mitigation shown by the game. Do not assume that a large number is automatically fatal if a defensive or preparatory state changes the result. Conversely, do not call a hit safe simply because the target survives it; the remaining HP may be too low for the next forecasted action.
Remove the source when possible
If the attacker can be defeated before its turn, concentrate the party’s actions there. This is the clearest application of Higuchi’s published example: defeating the dangerous enemy first means the predicted lethal strike never resolves. Recheck the forecast to ensure the enemy is actually removed before its scheduled action.
Move the event when removal is not realistic
Use delay when shifting the enemy later gives an ally time to heal, apply protection or finish the attacker. Delay is a timing tool, not a guarantee of safety. Because the public descriptions do not state how far an action moves, evaluate the revised forecast every time rather than relying on a fixed number of positions.

Cancel only when the command supports that event
A cancellation command can be the cleanest answer when it removes the next action outright. However, no universal list says which attacks are cancellable, and no published source gives a general interrupt chance. Treat eligibility as something the battle interface must confirm; never assume that every predicted attack can be cancelled.

Defend when prevention costs more than survival
If the hit is survivable and attacking the source would leave the party exposed elsewhere, defend or prepare. The correct comparison is total party safety after the forecast, including the ability to heal or act on the following sequence.
When defending or preparing is the right answer
Defensive commands are valuable when the prediction is unfavorable but manageable. They can preserve a character who would otherwise be left at dangerous HP, and they may allow the party to spend the next command on recovery or setup. Choose them when:
- The target survives the displayed hit with a useful HP margin.
- Removing the attacker would require abandoning a more urgent objective.
- The revised forecast after an offensive attempt still contains a comparable or worse threat.
- A defensive state improves the next forecast rather than merely postponing the same problem.
Do not defend automatically because an enemy is acting first. Future Sight exists so you can distinguish an acceptable hit from an event that must be rewritten.

When attacking first is stronger than defending
Pre-emption is strongest when one enemy controls the dangerous part of the timeline. Focus damage on that enemy rather than distributing attacks across several targets if the focused sequence removes the predicted event before it occurs. This can be better than defending against the hit because it also reduces the number of future enemy actions.
Before committing to a pre-emptive plan, verify three conditions:
- Your selected characters can act before the enemy’s forecasted turn.
- The planned damage is enough to defeat or otherwise neutralize the attacker.
- The revised forecast does not expose another character to a more severe event.
If any condition fails, combine offense with delay, cancellation or defense instead of assuming that a partial attack has solved the problem.

How to use delay without losing control of the timeline
Delay changes when an enemy acts; it does not necessarily remove the attack. Use it to create a window for a specific follow-up: heal the predicted target, apply preparation, exploit a weakness or finish the enemy with another character. The value comes from what your party does during that window.
After delaying, inspect whether the enemy now acts:
- After the healer, so recovery can occur first;
- After the attacker who can defeat it;
- After a weakness hit that may push the event farther or remove it; or
- Still before the action that makes the party safe, meaning another intervention is required.
The exact amount an action moves and any limits on repeated delays have not been published. Treat each forecast as a fresh calculation.
How cancellation differs from delay
Delay leaves an event in the future; cancellation removes the selected event if the command supports it. That difference matters when the enemy would act again before your next opportunity to respond. A cancelled attack also avoids its damage without requiring the target to survive it.
Because the developers have not published universal cancellation rules, look for confirmation in the battle interface or released documentation. If cancellation is unavailable, switch to the next-best timeline change: defeat the attacker, delay it beyond your planned actions or defend the target.

Secondary system documentation states that hitting an enemy’s weakness can push its action later. If the action is pushed far enough, it may be removed from the sequence. This makes weakness exploitation a timing decision as well as a damage decision.
Best Value
Use a weakness hit when its turn-order effect protects the party or creates a decisive setup window. A neutral attack with more immediate damage may be inferior if a weakness hit prevents the enemy from acting before a healer or finisher. The published material does not provide Break thresholds, formulas or a universal list of weaknesses, so do not calculate a fixed number of hits in advance. Watch the forecast after each qualifying command.
Reading the revised forecast correctly
Future Sight decisions can fail when players look only at the event they intended to change. After every meaningful command, check the complete visible sequence:
- Timing: Did the dangerous enemy move behind the actions you needed?
- Target: Did the predicted victim change?
- Magnitude: Did the projected damage become survivable?
- Persistence: Is the attack still present later, or has it disappeared?
- Follow-up: Does your party have a usable action after the revised enemy turn?
The safest forecast is the one that leaves the party able to respond to what comes next, not necessarily the one that records the largest single reduction in displayed damage.

Worked examples using the announced rules
Example: a lethal strike from one powerful enemy
The forecast shows a powerful enemy attacking a low-HP character before your next recovery opportunity. A direct attack that does not defeat the enemy leaves the lethal event unchanged, so concentrate enough actions to remove that enemy if the revised forecast confirms it acts afterward. If defeat is not possible, delay the attack to place a healing action first, then inspect whether the target survives the new sequence.
Example: a survivable hit followed by a worse event
The first enemy attack removes some HP but does not defeat its target. A second predicted action would then finish the same character. Defending against only the first hit may be inadequate. Compare a defensive plan with a delay or weakness plan that changes the second event; choose the option whose full forecast leaves the character alive and the party able to recover.
Example: a weakness hit creates the needed window
An enemy’s action is dangerous, but a weakness attack pushes that action later. The weakness hit may deal less immediate damage than a neutral attack, yet it can let an ally heal or deliver the finishing blow before the enemy returns. Because the Break threshold is unknown, confirm the result by reading the updated timeline rather than assuming the action has been removed.
Common Future Sight mistakes
- Chasing the largest damage number: Damage is useful only if the resulting timeline is safer.
- Ignoring the target: The same attack has different consequences against a full-health defender and a nearly defeated support character.
- Stopping after one forecast change: A removed attack can reveal another enemy action that now becomes decisive.
- Assuming delay equals cancellation: A delayed event still exists unless the forecast shows it has disappeared.
- Assuming every attack can be interrupted: Cancellation rules and eligibility are not universally documented.
- Planning from an unverified formula: Damage, delay distance and Break thresholds have not been published, so rely on the displayed result.
- Overreacting to a survivable hit: Sometimes defending preserves more resources than an inefficient attempt to eliminate a threat.
What is confirmed and what remains unknown
Confirmed by the published descriptions
- Future Sight shows enemy timing and predicted results.
- The preview can include the attack used, its target and expected damage.
- Players choose commands that can alter the displayed outcome.
- The system operates inside Eternal Anima’s turn-based command battles.
- Defeating a dangerous enemy can prevent its predicted attack from occurring.
Not yet established
- How far ahead the forecast looks.
- Whether every enemy action is visible in every situation.
- The complete interface layout and exact command labels.
- Damage, delay and Break formulas or thresholds.
- Which attacks can be cancelled and whether any interrupt chance applies.
- Whether a prediction can ever be wrong.
Those gaps matter because the game is unreleased and available material describes the design rather than measured play. Treat the procedures above as a reliable way to reason from the announced system, not as a substitute for final tutorials or patch-specific documentation.
Quick checklist for every vision
- Who acts first among the enemies?
- Which event can make the turn unsafe?
- Who is targeted, and can that character survive the displayed damage?
- Can the attacker be defeated before acting?
- Would defend or prepare leave the party stronger for the next forecast?
- Would delay create a real healing, setup or finishing window?
- Is cancellation available for this specific event?
- Can a weakness or Break push the action out of danger?
- After the command, does the entire revised timeline remain safe?
Future Sight rewards disciplined comparison: read the prediction, identify the event that matters, alter the timeline with the least costly effective command, and verify the result before committing.
