The espresso Display 15 is a 15.6-inch, 1080p portable monitor with an unusually polished aluminum-and-glass design and an included magnetic Stand+. In Ed Hardy’s January 2025 Cult of Mac review, it worked well for everyday work and video, but its broad lower bezel, USB-C-only video connection and ability to drain a connected device’s battery are important tradeoffs. It is best suited to people who value a refined desk or presentation setup more than the smallest possible footprint.
What the espresso Display 15 offers
The Display 15 pairs a 15.6-inch Full HD panel with a slim metal-and-glass enclosure. Cult of Mac reviewer Ed Hardy reported that espresso supplied the review unit. His assessment was that the screen looked good for writing, browsing, spreadsheets and video; that is a hands-on review impression, not an independent laboratory test.

Hardy found it usable outdoors in shade but not in full sun. The 300-nit rating and that observation are useful context if you plan to work away from a desk, but the review does not establish performance across different lighting conditions or units.

Is it actually easy to carry?
At 2 pounds and 0.2 inches thick, the panel is slim, but the full unit is not as compact as its screen size might suggest. Its 14.1-by-10.1-inch footprint includes a broad lower chin. Hardy noted that it is wider than a 16-inch MacBook and may not fit comfortably in a smaller laptop bag. Check the monitor’s full dimensions against your bag rather than relying on the “15-inch” shorthand.

Stand+ makes the setup more flexible
The included magnetic Stand+ can position the display beside or above a laptop. The review describes two configurations that place the screen’s bottom roughly 4 inches or 9.75 inches above the desk. Hardy found the magnetic mount easy to set up and rotate between portrait and landscape. Those options can help with a second-screen workspace or presentations, though the overall footprint remains a factor when packing.
Case is a separate consideration
The review describes an optional espresso Case as a magnetic flip cover that protects the screen and folds into a stand. Bundle contents, compatibility and availability can change, so confirm what is included with the particular listing you are considering.

How does it connect, and what about power?
The Display 15 has two USB-C ports and no built-in HDMI. The review says it connects to a Mac, iPad and recent iPhone models over USB-C, but compatibility depends on the specific device and its video-output support. Check your device’s documentation before buying; a USB-C-shaped port alone does not guarantee video output.

The monitor can draw power from the connected device or use a separate USB-C wall charger. In Hardy’s particular setup, powering it from a 13-inch iPad was associated with a 40% drop in that iPad’s charge over an hour. That is one reviewer’s observation, not a general battery-life test or a prediction for every device. The review does not state a required charger rating; check the monitor and charger requirements before choosing an external power supply.
Who is the Display 15 for?
It makes sense for work and presentations
If you want a second screen for documents, browser windows or spreadsheets, or a display that looks at home in a professional presentation setup, the combination of a Full HD panel, slim enclosure and adjustable magnetic stand is appealing. Hardy’s review praised the design: “The espresso Display 15 stands out from the competition in a couple of ways. One of them is design — it’s far more professional looking than portable monitors from rival companies that I’ve tried.” That is his comparative impression, not a measured comparison across the market.

Artists should check the alternatives carefully
Hardy recommended that artists consider a Pro model for a larger, higher-resolution screen and touch capability. The review noted that an espresso 15 Pro had been newly announced at the time, but it does not establish which Pro models are currently available or their present specifications. Compare the current lineup directly if touch input or a higher-resolution canvas is central to your work.

It may not suit a minimal travel kit
Look elsewhere if your priority is the narrowest possible bag fit, built-in HDMI, or keeping a tablet’s battery for other work while the monitor is in use. The lower chin and power draw are practical compromises behind the product’s slim profile.

Verdict
The espresso Display 15 is a strong fit for someone who wants a polished, portable second screen and values the included Stand+ for flexible positioning. Its 1080p, 60 Hz panel and 300-nit brightness are suited to general work and viewing, while the broad 14.1-by-10.1-inch footprint, USB-C-only video connection and potential drain on a connected device make it less compelling for a small-bag or battery-first setup. Choose it for design and desk flexibility, not for the highest resolution, built-in HDMI or a guaranteed low-impact power draw.
