- The list appears, but does not affect the home page, scoreboard, schedule, or notifications as expected.
- A maximum-favorites message appears even though you cannot remove existing items.
- Only particular sports, teams, devices, or accounts seem affected.
Check another platform before assuming the saved data is gone: an item that fails to render in one interface may still appear elsewhere. ESPN’s visible Favorites feature can be seen on its website.

A third-party status page reported ESPN.com online and no current user-reported problems when retrieved. That is not a test of account-level personalization, so an accessible ESPN site can coexist with a broken Favorites feature. The status page is OutageDown’s ESPN listing; it does not establish the condition of every app feature.
To judge whether the fault is local or broader, compare the same account on the app and website, and, if possible, another device or network. Failure across platforms, or reports from unrelated users at the same time, can point toward a service-side problem, but neither proves the cause. A problem isolated to one browser, device, login, VPN, or content blocker is more consistent with a local or account-specific issue.

Check that you are troubleshooting the right ESPN product
The main ESPN app, ESPN.com, connected-TV versions of the app, ESPN+ or ESPN Unlimited personalization, and ESPN Fantasy are not interchangeable products. A Fantasy-team issue should not automatically be treated as a Favorites problem in the main ESPN app. ESPN maintains separate support guidance for the Fantasy app and general technical support.
Also verify that each device uses the same ESPN login. Different sign-in methods or accounts can make a list appear unsynchronized, and ESPN’s interface and content may vary by regional edition. A maximum-favorites warning could explain why additions are blocked, but it would not by itself explain a list that fails to display or sync.

Troubleshoot without treating a workaround as a confirmed fix
- Verify the account. Compare the signed-in email or login method on the app and website; sign out and back in if they differ or the session looks stale.
- Refresh the interface. Reload ESPN.com, or force-close and relaunch the app. ESPN’s general guidance for a blank screen or spinning wheel recommends restarting or refreshing the affected experience; it is not a Favorites-specific fix. See ESPN’s blank-screen and spinning-wheel guidance.
- Compare a different browser, device, and connection. Try another supported browser or device, and switch between Wi-Fi and cellular data. If the problem occurs only on one network, a connection or filtering issue is possible. ESPN’s general playback troubleshooting recommends checking connectivity and trying another connection or device for applicable problems.
- Temporarily remove interference. If safe to do so, disable a VPN, proxy, content blocker, privacy extension, antivirus web filter, or corporate-network filter, then reload and test again. Restore protections after the test.
- Update the app and device. Install available ESPN app and operating-system updates, then retry. A timing overlap with an update does not establish that the update caused the issue.
- Clear local browser data if the issue is browser-only. Clear ESPN-related cookies and cached files, or test in a private window first. Signing out or clearing cookies can remove a session, so make sure you can sign back in.
- Use platform-appropriate app recovery. On Android, clearing the app cache may help with local display problems. On iOS, use the device’s offload or reinstall options rather than relying on an old ESPN-specific reset path.
- Reinstall only as a last local test. First confirm you know your sign-in details. Reinstalling can address a damaged local installation, but cannot repair a server-side account record. ESPN recommends reinstalling for some playback issues, not as a published cure for this Favorites problem.
Use another route to follow teams while Favorites are unreliable
Until the list behaves consistently, open ESPN search, scoreboard, schedule, team, or league pages directly. You can bookmark the relevant pages in your browser or keep a manual list of teams. If you need immediate alerts, use another score-tracking option temporarily; having a team in Favorites does not by itself establish that notifications are enabled.
Avoid repeatedly adding and removing the same items while results are inconsistent. That makes it harder to tell whether the issue is a display failure, sync delay, account mismatch, or failed save.

What to send ESPN Support if it persists
ESPN’s Fix a Problem and Technical support sections are starting points when ordinary troubleshooting does not help. Include details that let support distinguish a local issue from one affecting the account or service:
- A screenshot or short screen recording showing what happens.
- The device model, operating system, ESPN app version or browser, and region.
- The product involved: ESPN.com, the main ESPN app, a connected-TV app, ESPN+ or ESPN Unlimited, or ESPN Fantasy.
- The approximate time of the failure and whether it reproduces on another device, browser, or network.
- Whether adding, removing, displaying, syncing, or notifications are affected, and the exact error text if one appears.
What remains unconfirmed
