These five options suit different desks and typing habits, but the available evidence does not establish a representative cross-brand user favorite. Which ergonomic keyboard is best for a home office?
“Ergonomic” describes several different layouts, not one proven shape. A curved keyboard keeps the hands on one board; a split keyboard separates the key areas to some degree; a fully split model lets you position two halves independently. Columnar keys and tenting add further changes to hand position, and usually require more adjustment.

RTINGS’ current ergonomic-keyboard roundup names the Glove80 as its best ergonomic keyboard, the ERGO K860 as its mid-range pick, and the Wave Keys as a budget pick. Its list covers more than 295 keyboards tested overall, a scope figure that is not a count of ergonomic models or evidence of medical superiority. The recommendations below pair that testing with product documentation and focus on distinct home-office needs. Read RTINGS’ ergonomic keyboard roundup.

What to know about each keyboard
MoErgo Glove80: maximum adjustability
The Glove80 is a fully split wireless keyboard with deeply shaped, columnar key wells and thumb clusters. Its detachable wrist rests and adjustable tenting let you configure the setup beyond what a fixed curved board allows. That flexibility comes with a more specialized layout and a learning curve; its configuration tools are also less straightforward than basic keyboard software. It is a better fit for someone willing to adapt to a different way of typing than for someone who wants a nearly familiar replacement.
#1 Best Overall
- Improved Typing Posture: Type more naturally with a curved, split keyframe and reduce muscle strain on your wrists and forearms thanks to the sloping keyboard design
- Pillowed Wrist Rest: Curved wrist rest with memory foam layer offers typing comfort with 54 per cent more wrist support; 25 per cent less wrist bending compared to standard keyboard without palm rest
- Perfect Stroke Keys: Scooped keys match the shape of your fingertips so you can type with confidence on a wireless keyboard crafted for comfort, precision and fluidity
- Adjustable Palm Lift: Whether seated or standing, keep your wrists in total comfort and a natural typing posture with ergonomically-designed tilt legs of 0, -4 and -7 degrees
- Ergonomist Approved: The ERGO K860 wireless ergonomic keyboard is certified by United States Ergonomics to improve posture and lower muscle strain
Logitech ERGO K860: familiar full-size split
The K860 keeps a conventional full-size key arrangement while curving and separating the key clusters. Its integrated cushioned wrist rest and negative-tilt positions offer a less radical change than a fully split, columnar keyboard. It takes up substantial desk space, and reviewers note an adjustment period; it also lacks backlighting. RTINGS describes its typing as quiet. Check Logitech’s K860 product details for the specific version and compatibility information.
Logitech Wave Keys: a gentler curve
The Wave Keys has a less pronounced curved layout and a smaller footprint than the K860, while retaining a wrist rest. It may feel like a more approachable change if you are not ready to position two separate halves. It is still fairly deep and does not provide the K860’s negative-tilt option, so compare the whole keyboard-and-rest height with your available desk space.

Kensington Pro Fit Ergo Wireless: lower-cost full-size layout
RTINGS describes this model as a lower-cost full-size option with more separated key clusters and risers that provide negative tilt. Its build feel and customization software are compromises relative to stronger alternatives. Because price and stock change, check the current listing and confirm the exact model before buying.
Kinesis Freestyle: position the halves independently
Freestyle models use two keyboard halves that can be placed at different distances. Kinesis documents optional tenting and palm supports, but connection type and switch configuration depend on the specific variant. Verify the complete model name and accessory bundle: the keyboard alone may not include the tenting or palm-support components you expect. See Kinesis’ keyboard model information.

Should you get a split keyboard?
A split layout can let you set the key areas farther apart than a one-piece keyboard. Whether that feels better depends on your desk, posture, typing habits, and tolerance for learning a new layout. A curved board such as the Wave Keys or K860 keeps more familiar key placement; a fully split design offers more freedom but demands more experimentation.
- Choose a fixed curved layout if you want a modest change with familiar keys.
- Choose a fully split model if you want to position the halves independently and are prepared to adjust to a different layout.
- Check whether tenting means fixed risers or adjustable components; the term alone does not tell you the available angles.
- Do not assume an ergonomic design prevents or treats pain or injury. Keyboard shape and angle can encourage a more neutral position, but that is not a guaranteed health outcome.
How to compare fit, support, and desk space
Desk footprint and keys
A full-size board preserves a numpad but uses more desk area, potentially leaving less room for the mouse. Smaller or separated layouts can free space near the mouse, but may omit keys or require shortcuts. Measure the area you can actually give the keyboard, including any wrist rest and the space needed to spread split halves.

- 【Wave Ergonomic Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Combo】The wireless keyboard features a wave key and wrist rest design that naturally fits your fingers and relieves wrist strain. The adjustable stand allows you to set the keyboard to the most comfortable height, making it ideal for long-term use. Note: The USB receiver is located on the back of the mouse.
- 【Wireless Optical Mouse】The wireless mouse is designed with comfort in mind, featuring a contoured shape that fits snugly in the palm and complements the natural curve of your right hand. All controls are easily within reach. This mouse is equipped with forward and back functions, allowing you to navigate the web faster and more efficiently than ever before.
- 【Plug-and-Play 2.4G Wireless Connection】One 2.4 GHz USB receiver can connect both the keyboard and mouse, or they can be used separately. Plug and play—no software download is required. The 2.4 GHz wireless connection offers a strong and reliable signal up to 33 feet (10 meters), without delays.
- 【Automatic Power Saving Function】The ULSOU wireless keyboard and mouse combo features an automatic power-saving function. After 30 seconds of inactivity on the keyboard and 15 minutes of inactivity on the mouse, both devices enter sleep mode to conserve battery life. This greatly extends battery life, and any button press will activate the devices again. The keyboard requires 1 AA battery, and the mouse requires 1 AA battery. (batteries not included).
- 【Wide Compatibility and Dual System Layout】This wireless keyboard and mouse combo is compatible with Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10/11, Mac, and other operating systems. It’s suitable for desktops, Chromebooks, PCs, laptops, and more. You can switch between Windows and macOS by pressing FN+Q or FN+W.
Wrist-rest position and height
Look for support under the firm heel of the palm rather than pressure directly on the wrist. An integrated rest, a detachable rest, or an optional palm support can each work differently with your desk height and typing position. Check whether the support sits at a comfortable level relative to the key surface.
Tenting, negative tilt, and typing feel
Tenting raises the inner or outer edges of the key areas; negative tilt angles the keys away from the typist. They are different adjustments, and availability varies by model. Switch feel and noise are also personal considerations, particularly in a shared home office; RTINGS describes the K860 as quiet, but that should not be generalized to the other models.
Best Value
- Built-in wrist rest and neutral grip supports, cushions, and positions the wrist for comfort and neutral hand alignment.
- Built-in wrist rest supports, cushions, and cradles the wrists.
- Quiet keys mean typing is smooth, easy, and non-disruptive.
- Spill-proof keys make cleanup fast and easy; Meets MIL-STD-810H Method 504.3 Contamination by Fluids testing for resistance to breakdown when exposed to cleaning and disinfecting solvents such as alcohol and bleach for at least 24 hours
- Caps lock, numbers lock, scroll lock, and F-keys are popular features that make typing and navigating easier and more efficient.
Connectivity and exact configuration
Before buying, verify whether the version you are considering is wired or wireless, which pairing or receiver options it supports, its operating-system compatibility, and what software is needed. For modular boards, confirm whether tenting and palm supports are included. Product families can have multiple configurations, so a name alone may not specify the setup.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What does “according to users” really mean here?
There is no representative, comparable survey establishing which of these five keyboards users prefer overall. RTINGS provides independent testing and product assessments, while manufacturer pages establish product features; neither is a cross-brand user-preference poll. Logitech’s product page attributes a statement about curved keys and wrist posture to Peter Johnson, University of Washington Professor Emeritus in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences and a member of the Logi Ergo Lab Advisory Board. That is a vendor-hosted attribution, not by itself an independently verified clinical conclusion.
Price, stock, exact configurations, and compatibility can change. Confirm those details on the manufacturer or retailer page for the precise model you intend to buy.
