In Enshrouded, you get them by defeating Scavengers, looting destroyed metal objects, and picking up loose scraps in the world. For an early supply, run a repeatable circuit through the ruined Springlands settlements of Rookmore and Wescott. Ores follow a different progression: Copper is in Revelwood, Tin in the Nomad Highlands Shroud, Iron in the Kindlewastes Shroud, Silver in the Albaneve Summits, and Gold in the Veilwater Basin.

Metal Scraps and ore are different resource systems
Metal Scraps are a Springlands crafting material gathered from combat and salvage. They are not an underground resource, so searching for a scrap vein or trying to mine one with a pickaxe will not work. Ores are the materials that come from mineable veins and later become bars at a processing station.
That distinction matters when planning a trip. A scrap run is an enemy-and-loot route through ruins; an ore run is an expedition into the region that contains the required vein, often through Shroud-covered mines or caves. Carrying a pickaxe helps with ore, but it does nothing to increase scrap drops from a Scavenger.

How to farm Metal Scraps early
Kill Scavengers
Scavengers are the primary source of Metal Scraps. They occupy ruined settlements and industrial-looking wreckage in the Springlands. Defeat them, then loot every corpse before leaving the area. If your inventory is filling with weapons, armor pieces, or other salvage, check each body manually rather than assuming the scrap was collected automatically.
Break destroyed metal objects
Ruined towns contain visible metal clutter that can be destroyed and looted. Search around collapsed buildings, work areas, carts, and other man-made debris after the fighting ends. This source complements enemy drops: clear a group of Scavengers, then sweep the surrounding structures so you do not leave breakable objects behind.

Pick up loose world spawns
Some Metal Scraps appear as physical pickups in the world. They can be easy to miss in dark interiors or among rubble, so use a systematic room-by-room sweep. The official Blacksmith “Forge Weaponry or Armor” quest also points players toward scraps found in the world and dropped by Scavengers, with a collection location near Rookmore.

The best early route: Rookmore and Wescott
Why these settlements work
Rookmore and Wescott are ruined Springlands towns where Scavengers are concentrated. Rookmore is specifically identified as a good early-game source, while the Springlands region description lists both settlements as frequent Scavenger locations. They let a new character combine combat drops, breakable metal, and ground pickups without traveling to a later biome.
A practical clearing loop
- Travel to Rookmore or Wescott with enough inventory space for salvage and a weapon suited to close-quarters fights.
- Enter from the edge of the ruins and eliminate Scavengers in small groups. Pulling enemies away from clustered buildings reduces the chance of being surrounded.
- Loot every defeated Scavenger immediately; corpses can be difficult to identify after a larger battle.
- Circle the buildings and destroy visible metal objects, checking corners, roofs, alleys, and interiors.
- Make a second pass for loose pickups, especially in rooms obscured by rubble or poor lighting.
- Return to your base, store the scraps, and repeat the settlement circuit when you need more.
The cited game pages do not publish a complete, current respawn timer or a guaranteed yield per run. Treat the loop as a repeatable route rather than promising a fixed number of scraps. If a previously cleared town appears empty, leave the area, pursue another activity, and return later instead of waiting for a timer that may vary with world state or updates.

Where to find every ore
Each ore is tied to a progression region. Mine the corresponding vein with a pickaxe, then bring the ore home for processing. Named mines are especially valuable because the Mine page describes them as locations rich in mineral and ore deposits; a named mine can hold particularly large deposits of a specific resource, although veins can also occur elsewhere in the same region.

Copper: the first ore to target
Revelwood is the first region where copper is found according to the Copper Ore page. Once you reach Revelwood, look for exposed copper veins while exploring the landscape and its mine entrances. Because this is the earliest named ore region in the progression list, copper is the natural step after basic Springlands scavenging when recipes begin demanding refined metal rather than scraps.
Use a pickaxe on the vein until the ore breaks free, collect every chunk, and mark productive outcrops or a named mine on your map. A marker saves time when a later crafting project requires another load.
Tin: Nomad Highlands Shroud mines and caves
Tin veins are found in mines and cave passages within the Nomad Highlands Shroud. Expect a more hazardous expedition than an early Springlands scrap run: plan your Shroud route, bring healing supplies, and leave enough carrying capacity for ore. The most efficient search pattern is to follow mine tunnels and connected cave passages rather than wandering across open ground where tin is less likely to be exposed.

Named mines can contain larger deposits, so investigate marked mine locations first. If a mine is depleted or difficult to reach, search other cave passages in the same Shroud region; the presence of a named mine does not mean it is the only place tin can spawn.

Iron is associated with the Kindlewastes. The Iron Ore page places its veins in mines and cave passages in the Kindlewastes Shroud. Treat this as a later expedition: secure a route through the Shroud, take equipment appropriate for the enemies and environmental hazards, and use a named mine when you want the best chance of finding a substantial deposit.
Iron runs are worth separating from scrap runs. Returning to Rookmore for scraps will not produce iron, and carrying a pickaxe through a Springlands salvage circuit will not substitute for reaching the Kindlewastes.
Silver and gold: late-region resources
Silver in the Albaneve Summits
Silver Ore is placed in the Albaneve Summits. When you locate a silver deposit, mine it like other ore and reserve the material for a Blast Furnace recipe that produces Silver Bars. The region association is the reliable navigation clue; the cited page does not establish a universal surface landmark or a guaranteed vein at every mine entrance.
Gold in the Veilwater Basin
Gold Ore is found in the Veilwater Basin. Mine the deposits you discover there and process them into Gold Bars in a Blast Furnace. As with silver, a named mine may offer a richer deposit, but veins can occur beyond a single named location.
Smelter or Blast Furnace?
Smelter
The Smelter converts ore into bars using charcoal-based recipes. Build or use one when your current recipes call for basic bar production and you have a supply of charcoal. Metal Scraps do not go into the Smelter; they remain a separate crafting ingredient.
Blast Furnace
The Blast Furnace is the advanced processing station. Its documented recipes include Copper, Tin, Iron, Silver, Gold, and Steel Bars, and the higher-tier processing uses coal. If a recipe lists the Blast Furnace, a standard Smelter will not satisfy it. Plan coal gathering before returning from a deep mine so the ore does not sit unused in storage.

A complete resource-gathering plan
- Stock basic materials in the Springlands. Clear Rookmore or Wescott for Scavenger drops, salvage metal objects, and collect loose scraps.
- Unlock the next ore region. Travel to Revelwood for copper, then advance to the Nomad Highlands and Kindlewastes for tin and iron as your progression allows.
- Favor named mines. Start your search at a named mine when you need a large load, then check nearby caves and passages for additional veins.
- Bring the right extraction tool. A pickaxe is for ore veins; it does not affect Scavenger loot or world scrap pickups.
- Match the station to the recipe. Use charcoal in a Smelter for compatible recipes, and save coal for Blast Furnace processing of advanced bars.
- Separate route planning by purpose. Schedule a quick Springlands salvage loop for scraps and a dedicated Shroud expedition for ore so inventory, fuel, and combat preparation match the trip.
Common mistakes and fixes
- Searching for a Metal Scrap vein: scraps are obtained from Scavengers, destroyed metal, and pickups. Move to a ruined settlement and start a salvage loop instead.
- Leaving Scavenger corpses unlooted: return to every body after the fight, even if the group appeared to drop only ordinary equipment.
- Expecting copper in the Springlands: the first listed copper region is Revelwood. Advance there and search copper veins.
- Looking for tin or iron in the wrong biome: tin belongs to Nomad Highlands Shroud mines and caves; iron belongs to Kindlewastes Shroud mines and caves.
- Taking ore to the wrong station: check the recipe. A Blast Furnace requirement cannot be replaced by a Smelter.
- Assuming one named mine is guaranteed to solve every run: named mines are rich targets, but veins can also occur elsewhere and the pages do not promise an identical deposit every visit.
- Planning around an exact respawn number: no complete current timer or guaranteed scrap yield is established for these locations. Use flexible loops and return after doing other activities.
Quick checklist before leaving base
- For scraps: weapon, healing items, open inventory slots, and a route through Rookmore or Wescott.
- For copper: pickaxe and a Revelwood destination.
- For tin: pickaxe, Shroud supplies, and a Nomad Highlands mine or cave route.
- For iron: pickaxe, Shroud supplies, and a Kindlewastes mine or cave route.
- For silver or gold: pickaxe, a route to the Albaneve Summits or Veilwater Basin, and access to a Blast Furnace when you return.
- For bar production: charcoal for Smelter recipes, coal for the Blast Furnace recipes that call for it.
