The October 6, 2026 report attributes the announcement to district Superintendent of Police K. Pratap Shiva Kishore.
What Eluru police reported
According to India Live’s October 6, 2026 report, the district Cyber Cell traced the phones, which had been lost or stolen at different locations, and returned them to their owners after what the report described as “thorough verification.” It does not identify the devices, explain how they were traced, or detail the checks conducted before handover.

The report puts their combined value at around ₹50 lakh but does not explain how that estimate was calculated. It also does not say whether all 200 phones were returned in one handover or in separate cases.
How to report a lost or stolen phone in Eluru
SP K. Pratap Shiva Kishore urged people whose phones are missing to lodge a complaint through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) or contact the nearest police station. Eluru District Police’s official site also lists a missing-mobile complaint service: Eluru District Police. Check the site for its current instructions and service availability.

CEIR is a reporting route for a missing phone; contacting local police is another option the SP recommended. The event report does not establish that CEIR was used to trace the 200 phones recovered in September 2026. A separate May 2026 report described CEIR use in an earlier Eluru recovery effort, but that does not confirm the method used for this recovery.
How this compares with national recovery figures
For dated context, the Department of Telecommunications said in a November 25, 2025 release that more than 50,000 phones were recovered nationally in October 2025 and that cumulative recoveries had exceeded 7 lakh at that time. The release also reported a 47% increase in monthly recoveries from June to October 2025. These are historical, India-wide figures—not current totals or figures specific to Eluru.
