Elon Musk has reportedly agreed to rename SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI, adopting “super intelligence” terminology recently promoted by President Donald Trump. That is a stated intention, not confirmation that the change has taken effect: as of Forbes’ October 4, 2026 report, SpaceXAI branding remained on the company’s website and social accounts.
What Musk reportedly said about the SpaceXAI name
Forbes reported on October 4, 2026, that Musk replied “Yes, we will make that change” after a user suggested renaming SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI. Forbes’ report, syndicated by Yahoo Tech, also said no timeline or further details had been provided.

Axios likewise reported that Musk called SpaceX a “super intelligence company” and said he would rename SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI. Axios’ October 4 report supplies that account; the available reporting does not establish that the company has completed the rename.
Why the change is being described as following Trump’s lead
The connection is the terminology: Trump has promoted “SI,” short for “super intelligence,” as a replacement for “AI.” A transcript of Trump’s September 29, 2026, press gaggle records him saying, “We’ve changed the name officially today. We’ve changed the name, Steve, officially to SI. Okay? SI, like SI, SI instead of AI. You know what that means? Super Intelligence.” The Roll Call / Factba.se transcript documents Trump’s remarks; it does not establish a formal name change by SpaceXAI.

The reports place Musk’s stated plan alongside Trump’s promotion of SI. They do not establish Musk’s private reasons for agreeing to the proposed name.
Has SpaceXAI officially become SpaceXSI?
Not on the evidence reported on October 4. Forbes said SpaceXAI branding was still visible on the company’s website and social accounts at the time of its report. That is a time-bounded observation, not a statement about what may have happened afterward.

The reports establish a publicly reported intention, but do not provide an implementation date, a company confirmation that the rename took effect, or a formal corporate filing for this specific change. Without a later announcement or updated company branding, SpaceXSI should be described as a proposed or intended name—not as SpaceXAI’s completed new name.
