In June 2021, Elon Musk mocked a video that criticized him and presented itself as an Anonymous threat—but the video’s authorship was never established in the reports available. Musk called it “Not even a good fake anonymous” on June 9, then posted a Hannah Montana–Miley Cyrus meme on June 14.
What did the video say about Elon Musk?
Futurism reported on June 8, 2021, that an account claiming an association with Anonymous had uploaded the video over the preceding weekend. Its robotic narrator criticized Musk’s influence on cryptocurrency and said: “You may think that you are the smartest person in the room, but now you have met your match,” followed by “We are Anonymous! We are Legion! Expect us.” Futurism’s report attributes those words to the video narrator, not to an identified speaker or a confirmed group statement.

How did Musk respond?
June 9: “Not even a good fake anonymous”
Musk replied on June 9, 2021: “Not even a good fake anonymous.” CoinGape reproduced the post and reported that the account YourAnonCentral later denied involvement with the video. CoinGape’s report does not establish who made the video.

Hindustan Times reports his caption as “Miley Cyrus is Hannah Montana.” Hindustan Times’ June 15, 2021 report said the post had more than 340,000 likes and the video more than two million views at the time. Was the video really from Anonymous?
The available reporting does not verify that Anonymous made or endorsed the video. Futurism described its original intent as unclear, and CoinGape reported YourAnonCentral’s denial of involvement. The cautious description is a video posted by an account claiming an Anonymous connection, or a video presented as an Anonymous threat. Musk’s joke mocked its presentation; it did not settle the authorship question.

Futurism also reported a separate satirical follow-up from “Not Financial Advice,” an account it described as belonging to a Tesla investor and Musk supporter. The parody portrayed the video’s voice as Tesla analyst Gordon Johnson, and Futurism said Musk responded to it with two laughing emojis. This was a separate joke, not the original video or evidence about who created it.
