ElevenLabs plans to expand its reported Indian-language voice AI coverage from 14 languages to all 22 official Indian languages within about a year. CEO Mati Staniszewski announced the target at the company’s Bengaluru summit on October 6, 2026. The 22-language figure is a goal, not a description of current availability.
What ElevenLabs announced
At its first India Summit in Bengaluru, co-founder and CEO Mati Staniszewski said the company intended to reach all 22 official Indian languages within roughly the next year. Business Standard reported that ElevenLabs then offered speech-to-text and text-to-speech services in 14 Indian languages. Business Standard’s October 6, 2026 report describes the 14-language figure as covering both tasks.

Economic Times reported the same day that the latest text-to-speech model, Eleven V4, supported 14 Indian languages, with a plan to reach 22 in the coming months. That account scopes the current count specifically to text-to-speech. Taken together, the reports support 14 as the reported current figure, but they do not establish that every ElevenLabs product or feature has identical language coverage. Which languages are included—and what is still unknown?
The announcement did not name the eight languages that would complete the stated 22-language target, nor did it provide dates for individual additions. The reports also do not show language-by-language quality results. Do not assume a list published for another ElevenLabs feature, such as voice cloning, is the roadmap for these speech services.

For historical context, ElevenLabs said in July and September 2025 that its Eleven v3 model supported 12 Indian languages. Those were dated, model-specific company statements; they do not contradict the higher 2026 figure reported for current services. The July 2025 update also described India data residency for Enterprise customers. The September 2025 update mentioned native Hindi and Tamil support.
What the India offering includes beyond generated speech
ElevenLabs describes its India offering as more than text-to-speech: it includes real-time speech recognition, conversational voice agents, telephony integrations and enterprise deployment options. Its India page describes support for Indian accents and code-switched speech, use in noisy call environments, and integrations with Ozonetel, Exotel and Plivo. What businesses should verify before choosing a service
A language count alone does not establish whether a system will work well for a particular audience or call workflow. Buyers evaluating ElevenLabs or another provider should check the exact task and deployment they need, then test it with representative speakers and conditions.
