The Freetan M-368X and Freetri E-361 are designed around different priorities: the M-368X emphasizes full suspension and wide fat tires, while the E-361 folds for easier storage and transport. Either could suit an older rider, but age alone cannot determine fit. The practical choice depends on the rider’s ability to mount, sit, steer, and manage the trike, plus the surfaces they ride and where they will keep it.
How the two trikes differ
Addmotor’s product pages describe both as semi-recumbent electric trikes with adjustable seating and handlebars, a 750W rear-drive motor, a 48V 20Ah battery, a claimed 20 mph top speed, and a claimed range of 85 miles at PAS1. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent performance findings. PAS1 is a low assist setting, and actual range depends on conditions and use. See the Freetan M-368X product page and the Freetri E-361 product page.

The tire and suspension comparison suggests the M-368X is the more appropriate design to consider for uneven routes, while Addmotor presents the E-361 for paved streets and pathways. That is an inference from the manufacturer’s descriptions, not a comparative ride test. The listed prices are snapshots and may change with promotions, region, or availability; check the product pages before purchase.
Which model fits each riding situation?
Consider the M-368X for cushioning and varied surfaces
The M-368X’s full suspension and 20 × 4.0-inch tires are its clearest differentiators. If regular routes include rougher paths rather than only smooth pavement, those design features may be worth considering. Addmotor also describes an ultra-low frame, a seat that slides forward and backward, an adjustable backrest angle, mirrors, and a rear cargo basket. The page lists a front basket as an option; check the current configuration and compatibility before relying on any accessory. The manufacturer says the trike weighs approximately 148 lb including its battery, a relevant detail if it must be moved or loaded.

Consider the E-361 when folding matters most
The E-361’s defining advantage is its folding frame and stated folded footprint. Measure the intended storage space, doorways, and vehicle opening against the folded dimensions; folding does not by itself make a trike easy for the rider to lift or move. Addmotor describes the model as having urban-oriented suspension tuning and tires for paved surfaces. Its announcement also lists anti-tip support wheels, a rear differential, reflective tire strips, and an upgraded rear light. These are manufacturer-described features, not proof that a trike prevents falls or crashes.
In Addmotor’s August 21, 2026 announcement, Chief Product R&D Officer Kin Chen said the E-361 builds on the M-368X platform, retaining its core specifications while adding a folding frame, a redesigned triangular saddle, urban suspension tuning, and urban tires. This is the manufacturer’s account of the design changes, not an independent assessment.

Check fit and safe handling before choosing
A low or step-through frame may simplify access, but the product descriptions do not establish that either trike is medically suitable for a particular rider. When possible, arrange an in-person fit and supervised test ride. Check the specific trike rather than relying on the model name or age-based assumptions.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Mounting and transfer: Can the rider get on and off without losing balance or needing an unsafe lift? Does the frame leave enough room for their usual transfer method?
- Seated position: Is the semi-recumbent posture comfortable? Can the rider adjust the seat and handlebars to a position they can maintain?
- Controls and brakes: Can the rider reach and operate the controls and brakes comfortably from the adjusted position?
- Low-speed maneuvering: Can the rider steer and turn the trike at low speed in a supervised setting?
- Capacity: Compare the rider’s weight and usual cargo with the manufacturer’s stated limits. Ask Addmotor to clarify what “350+100 LBS” means for the E-361 before treating it as a rider-plus-cargo allowance.
If balance, strength, vision, or mobility concerns could affect riding, an in-person assessment with an appropriate clinician or mobility specialist can help determine whether either model is a sensible option.

Plan for storage, transport, and ownership
For the E-361, compare its folded measurements with the actual storage area and consider who will fold and move it. For either model, think through routine charging, inspections, and access to service and replacement parts in your area. The M-368X’s listed weight of approximately 148 lb including the battery is especially worth considering if it needs to be moved; the available official information does not provide a comparable E-361 weight here.
Both product pages list an 85-mile range at PAS1 and a 20 mph top speed. Treat these as Addmotor claims, not expected everyday results: the available sources do not provide independent range or speed testing for either trike. Confirm current specifications, stock, and service arrangements with the manufacturer or seller before committing.
