There is no universal PSI for electric scooters. Set the pressure specified for your exact scooter model and tire, checking the sidewall and current manual. Measure at the valve stem with a reliable gauge, adjust in small increments, and follow the model’s stated measurement conditions and inspection schedule. Front and rear tires may require different pressures.
Why scooter tire pressure is model-specific
Electric scooters use different tire sizes, constructions, loads and wheel designs, so a pressure that is correct on one model can be wrong on another. The difference can also be between the front and rear wheels of the same scooter. Apollo’s published guidance, for example, lists 36 PSI at the front and 50 PSI at the rear for its Air and Go models, while its City uses 45–50 PSI on both tires.

Pressure is not just a comfort setting. Xiaomi says pressure outside the recommended range for its Electric Scooter 5 Max reduces handling and stability, increases tire wear and affects comfort. Those effects are model-specific warnings, not a basis for copying one scooter’s limits to every other scooter.

- Low pressure: may make steering and cornering feel less controlled, increase tire flex and accelerate wear.
- High pressure: can reduce comfort and the tire’s compliant contact with the road, while still being outside the manufacturer’s permitted setting.
- Wrong front/rear balance: can change how the scooter responds even when each number looks reasonable in isolation.
Do not choose a “typical scooter PSI” from a generic chart. Identify the exact model, generation, tire and wheel position first. A number quoted for a Ninebot, Xiaomi or Apollo scooter is an example for that named product, not a default for every electric scooter.

Find the correct specification before inflating
Start with the exact manual or support page
Use the current documentation for the complete model name and generation, not just the family name. “Max,” “Lite,” “Air” or “Pro” can refer to different scooters with different tires and pressures. Check whether the specification is a single target, a recommended range, or a separate front and rear value. Also note whether it applies to pneumatic tires, tubeless tires or a particular replacement-tire size.
Write down the specification before touching the valve. This prevents a common mistake: remembering a pressure from a different scooter and applying it to the one in front of you. If the support page lists several regional or generation variants, match the model label, wheel size and tire designation on your scooter.
Read the tire sidewall
Inspect the molded marking on the tire sidewall. Apollo’s tire-pressure guidance specifically tells owners to use the sidewall PSI marking as the primary reference. Record the marking for each wheel because a scooter may have different front and rear tires. A sidewall marking and a manual that appear inconsistent should not be resolved by guessing; confirm the exact tire and scooter version with the manufacturer.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Sidewall information belongs to the tire that is actually installed. A replacement tire can carry a different marking from the original, so do not assume the old manual or a retailer’s generic listing settles the question. Keep the sidewall value and the scooter instruction together when deciding what applies.
Distinguish a target from a limit
A recommended operating range is the setting to aim for. A safety or maximum boundary is not an invitation to inflate to its upper edge. NAVEE’s V25i Pro service guidance illustrates the distinction: it gives a standard range of 42–48 PSI and a broader safety range of 30–55 PSI. The normal target is the standard range, while the safety range describes boundaries in that named guidance.
When a specification is expressed as a range, set the tire within that range rather than treating the largest number as the goal. Never exceed the lower of the applicable manufacturer limit and the tire’s stated limit. If the documentation does not explain an apparent limit, ask the manufacturer or a qualified repairer instead of interpreting it yourself.
Resolve conflicting numbers
- Verify the complete scooter name, generation and regional version.
- Check whether the figures refer to the front, rear or both tires.
- Read the sidewall on the tire actually installed; a replacement tire may have a different marking.
- Check whether one figure is an operating range and another is a safety or maximum boundary.
- Use the latest model-specific manufacturer instruction. If the conflict remains, stop and ask the manufacturer or a qualified repairer rather than averaging the numbers.
Model-specific PSI examples
The figures below demonstrate why a universal answer fails. They are examples from named manufacturer guidance or, where noted, a secondary guide; they are not a substitute for the current documentation for your scooter.

The Xiaomi, Apollo and NAVEE figures are tied to the named models and their stated guidance. The Segway figures come from a secondary guide and do not establish separate front and rear values. A number in this table should never override the marking on your installed tire or the current manual for your exact scooter.
These examples also show why comparing scooters requires more than comparing two numbers. Note the exact version, wheel position, tire marking, operating range, any safety boundary, the required measurement condition and the inspection interval. Only then is a comparison meaningful.
What you need to measure PSI
- A pressure gauge: Apollo recommends a reliable gauge. NAVEE’s V25i Pro instructions call for accuracy of at least ±1 PSI.
- An air source: a hand pump or compact electric pump can work if it connects securely to the valve. Xiaomi recommends an electric pump with a pressure gauge for the cited scooter models.
- The valve cap: remove it only while measuring or inflating, then reinstall it.
- The model specification: keep the manual or the sidewall marking available so you are comparing the reading with the right number.
A pump’s integrated gauge is convenient for adding air, but the important requirement is a repeatable reading that can be compared with the scooter’s specification. If two gauges disagree, check their accuracy or have the tire checked with a known reliable gauge instead of selecting the more convenient number. NAVEE’s ±1 PSI requirement is a useful benchmark for that named model, not a universal certification for every gauge.
How to check and adjust scooter tire pressure
- Park securely and switch the scooter off. Place it on a stable surface where the wheel and valve can be reached without the scooter moving.
- Inspect before measuring. Look for a visibly damaged tire, a cut, a bulge or a valve that appears loose. If you see damage, do not try to solve it by adding air; consult the manufacturer or a qualified repairer.
- Confirm the measurement condition. If the manual requires cold tires, allow the scooter to reach that condition before connecting the gauge.
- Remove the valve cap. Keep it somewhere clean so dirt does not enter the valve.
- Attach the gauge squarely to the valve stem. Press the connector on firmly enough to seal, then read the PSI shown. A brief hiss while the connector seats is normal, but a continuous leak indicates a poor connection or a valve problem.
- Compare the reading with the exact specification. Use the front or rear value that applies to that wheel. Do not substitute a number from another model.
- Add air in small increments if the reading is low. Inflate briefly, remove the connector and measure again. Small increments prevent overshooting a narrow range.
- Release air carefully if the reading is high. Use the valve tool or the gauge’s release function if provided, then recheck. Never exceed the applicable tire or manufacturer limit.
- Recheck and replace the cap. Confirm the final reading under the required measurement condition, then screw the valve cap back on securely.
- Record repeated losses. If the same tire is low again soon, inspect the tire and valve for a leak or damage and arrange professional service rather than repeatedly topping it up without finding the cause.
Measure one wheel at a time and label the notes as front or rear. A quick reading without a good seal can release air and produce a misleading result, so take a second reading if the value seems unexpectedly different from the previous check.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesMeasure under the condition your model specifies
Temperature and recent riding can change a pressure reading. Do not assume that a reading taken immediately after a ride is interchangeable with a cold-tire specification.
NAVEE’s V25i Pro guidance explicitly requires cold-tire measurement: the scooter must have been stationary for at least two hours or ridden no more than 3 km. Follow that definition when servicing a V25i Pro. For another model, use the condition stated in its manual; if no condition is stated, measure consistently and avoid comparing a hot reading with a cold target.
When checking both wheels, measure them under the same conditions and note which wheel each reading belongs to. Consistency makes a gradual loss easier to spot. If a tire was just ridden, wait for the model’s specified cold period rather than trying to correct the reading immediately.

How often to check
There is no interval that applies to every electric scooter. Xiaomi recommends monthly checks for the Electric Scooter 4 Lite (2nd Gen) and Electric Scooter 5 Max. Xiaomi’s Electric Scooter 5 Max support article states: “Check the tire pressure every month, and inflate the tires if the pressure is too low.” That sentence is guidance for that model, not a universal rule.
NAVEE’s V25i Pro instructions call for a monthly check or a check whenever low pressure is suspected. They also say to check before riding if the scooter has been parked for more than 30 days. A scooter-specific manual may require a different or more frequent inspection, especially after a tire change or repair.
Check sooner after noticing vague steering, unusual tire flex, a change in comfort, or a pressure reading that is outside the normal range. Those observations do not identify one particular fault, but they are reasons to measure instead of relying on appearance.
What a wrong reading means for the ride
Use the manufacturer’s range as the decision point rather than judging pressure by feel. A tire can look acceptable while being outside its specification.
| Reading or observation | What the cited guidance establishes | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Below the recommended range | Xiaomi says out-of-range pressure can reduce handling and stability, increase tire wear and affect comfort. | Add air in small increments to the exact model target, then recheck. |
| Above the recommended range | The same Xiaomi warning applies to pressure outside the recommended range; a higher number is not automatically safer or faster. | Release air carefully and verify against the model and tire specification. |
| Reading changes repeatedly | The reviewed manufacturer guidance supports inspection for a leak or tire damage but does not provide one universal diagnosis. | Inspect the valve and tire and seek qualified service if the loss continues. |
| Visible cut, bulge or other damage | Pressure adjustment does not repair structural tire damage. | Stop and consult the manufacturer or a qualified repairer about inspection or replacement. |
Do not use a softer ride as proof that a lower pressure is acceptable, or a firmer ride as proof that a higher pressure is beneficial. The specification, measured with a suitable gauge under the required condition, is the objective check.
Does higher PSI improve range?
The available model guidance does not establish a reliable percentage improvement in range from changing PSI, nor does it provide a universal safety or tire-life statistic. Do not raise pressure beyond the specified range to chase a claimed efficiency gain. Set the pressure that the scooter and tire manufacturer gives for your model, then address range concerns separately.
When pressure keeps dropping
A one-time low reading can result from normal permeation, a recent service or an imperfect gauge connection, but repeated loss deserves inspection. Recheck with a reliable gauge, make sure the valve connector is sealing during measurement, and examine the valve and sidewall for damage. NAVEE’s maintenance guidance treats inspection and replacement as service decisions; it does not define a single diagnosis for every pressure loss.

If air escapes audibly, the valve will not hold pressure, the tire has a puncture or the sidewall is damaged, do not rely on repeated inflation for continued riding. Identify a compatible replacement tire or repair through the scooter manufacturer or a qualified repairer. Compatibility matters: a replacement must match the scooter’s wheel and tire requirements, not merely fit physically.
When asking for service, provide the scooter’s complete model and generation, wheel position, tire marking, measured PSI, measurement condition and how quickly pressure fell. That information helps distinguish a reading problem from a tire or valve problem without guessing.

A simple maintenance record
After each check, note the date, wheel, measured PSI and whether the tire was cold under the model’s definition. A short record shows whether one wheel is losing pressure faster than the other and gives a repairer useful information. Keep the specification with the record so a future check does not accidentally use a value from another scooter.
Before riding, confirm that both tires are within their model-specific ranges, the valve caps are installed, and no visible damage appeared since the last inspection. That routine takes less time than diagnosing handling changes after a tire has been run at the wrong pressure.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Copying a neighbor’s PSI: even scooters with similar names can use different tires and settings.
- Using one number for both wheels: Apollo’s Air and Go examples show that front and rear values can differ substantially.
- Inflating to a safety boundary: NAVEE’s 30–55 PSI safety range is not the same as its 42–48 PSI operating range.
- Measuring a hot tire against a cold target: follow the model’s stated condition, including NAVEE’s two-hour or 3 km cold-tire definition.
- Trusting appearance alone: a tire can look normal while the gauge shows it is outside specification.
- Ignoring repeated losses: topping up indefinitely can conceal a valve, puncture or damaged tire that needs service.
- Replacing with an unverified tire: physical fit alone does not establish compatibility with the scooter.
Frequently Asked Questions
What PSI should I run in my electric scooter tires?
Use the exact specification for your scooter, generation and installed tire. Check the sidewall and current manufacturer manual; do not copy a pressure from another model. Front and rear values may differ.
Can I use the PSI printed on the tire sidewall?
Apollo’s guidance identifies the sidewall marking as the primary reference. Compare it with the exact scooter instruction, especially if the tire has been replaced or the two figures appear inconsistent, and ask the manufacturer or a qualified repairer if the conflict remains.
How often should I check scooter tire pressure?
Follow the model manual. Xiaomi recommends monthly checks for the Electric Scooter 4 Lite (2nd Gen) and Electric Scooter 5 Max. NAVEE recommends monthly checks or whenever low pressure is suspected, plus a check before riding after the V25i Pro has been parked more than 30 days.

Should I check pressure when the tires are cold?
Use the condition specified for your model. NAVEE’s V25i Pro requires a cold tire: stationary for at least two hours or ridden no more than 3 km. Do not compare a reading taken immediately after riding with a cold-tire target.
What gauge accuracy do I need?
Use a reliable pressure gauge. NAVEE specifies accuracy of at least ±1 PSI for its V25i Pro guidance. A pump with an integrated gauge can be convenient, but the reading must be repeatable and suitable for comparison with the model specification.
Is a higher PSI safer or better for range?
No universal range or safety benefit is established by the cited manufacturer guidance. Pressure outside the recommended range can reduce handling and stability, increase tire wear and affect comfort, so stay within the exact model and tire specification.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →What should I do if the tire keeps losing air?
Recheck it with a reliable gauge and inspect the valve, tread and sidewall. Repeated loss, audible leakage, a puncture or structural damage calls for the manufacturer or a qualified repairer; repeated inflation alone does not fix the underlying problem.
Can I use a generic scooter PSI chart?
A generic chart is not reliable because pressure varies by model, tire and wheel position. Use the current documentation for the exact scooter and the marking on the installed tire instead.
The Bottom Line
Find the exact scooter-and-tire specification first, then measure both wheels with a reliable gauge under the required conditions. Adjust gradually, keep front and rear values separate, check on the model’s schedule, and investigate repeated pressure loss or visible damage instead of compensating with more air.
