Check access before searching Liurnia

The equipment is tied to the Tarnished Pack content. The pack is sold separately on PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam. Bandai Namco’s availability announcement says that Tarnished Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 includes the base game and Tarnished Pack content. The publisher’s standard United States price for the digital Tarnished Pack is $4.99 in 2026; local currency prices can differ. That is the DLC price, not the number of runes needed for the in-game items.

The 1.17 notes list PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam as supported platforms and say the update supports the Tarnished Pack, scheduled for August 28, 2026. Where to buy the Silver Grooved armor and shield

For an existing character, guides place the relevant Nomadic Merchant near Bellum Church in northern Liurnia. Bellum Church is the practical landmark; the merchant is in a nearby camp reached by following the slope around the church rather than standing at the church itself. The route is reported by All Things How and summarized in PC Gamer’s coverage.

1. Load the character who will use the gear and travel to the Bellum Church Site of Grace in northern Liurnia.
2. Use the church as your visual reference and inspect the nearby slope and merchant camp. The merchant is close to the church, not inside the building.
3. Speak to the Nomadic Merchant and open the shop inventory.
4. Buy the four Silver Grooved armor pieces and the shield individually. The set is not necessarily presented as a single bundled purchase.
5. Rest or reload the area if the merchant is not immediately visible, then check that the DLC entitlement is installed before assuming the location is wrong.

Where to find the Idus Sword

1. Travel to the Liurnia Lake Shore Site of Grace.
2. Move northwest while watching the ground and nearby ruins rather than searching the Bellum Church merchant camp.
3. Look for the corpse pickup described by the guide. Wraiths are reported in the surrounding area, so approach with enough healing and stamina to retreat.
4. Loot the corpse and inspect the sword’s in-game item card for its current attributes, requirements, and scaling before committing to a final stat plan.

The location reports do not describe a boss, NPC quest, or special conversation as a prerequisite. That does not replace checking the live game: if the corpse is empty, confirm the add-on is installed, search the area again from the Lake Shore landmark, and make sure another character has not already collected the item in a shared progression state.

How much does the Silver Grooved set cost?

There is no dependable published rune total at present. The guides disagree materially, and one source contradicts its own itemized figures. Use the following reports as explanations for the uncertainty, not as a price list to budget against.

Prices can differ because of guide errors, version changes, transcription mistakes, or differences between the merchant’s displayed items. When you reach the camp, open every item entry and record the amount shown in your own game. Keep a rune buffer until you have checked the shield and all four armor slots; do not assume a reported total covers every piece.

Building a Dexterity-focused Idus Knight

Idus Knight is presented as a Dexterity-oriented option in secondary coverage, but neither the patch notes nor the publisher prescribe a single build. Choose armor by load, not by the name of the set

The complete Silver Grooved look is a reasonable starting point, but a full set is not mandatory for a Dexterity playstyle. Compare three things in your equipment screen:

• Weight: Keep the total within the roll category you intend to use. If the shield pushes the character into a slower roll, replace one armor piece or raise Endurance rather than sacrificing all mobility.
• Protection and poise: Heavier pieces can let you survive or finish attacks that would otherwise stagger you, but the benefit must justify the stamina and movement cost.
• Upgrade and fashion flexibility: Mixing pieces is valid when it preserves your preferred silhouette while meeting the load target. The set bonus should not be assumed unless the game’s item descriptions explicitly show one.

One-hand, shield, or two-hand

Switching between one-hand and two-hand use is a playstyle decision, not a class requirement. Test the sword’s light attacks, heavy attacks, jumping attacks, and skill in a low-risk area. Choose the arrangement that lets you land attacks without exhausting stamina before the enemy’s response.

Weapon upgrades and combat routine

Troubleshooting the most common problems

The merchant has no Silver Grooved items

Confirm that the Tarnished Pack is owned and installed for the platform and account you are using. Then reload the area and approach the camp from Bellum Church again. If the inventory still lacks the gear, verify that the game has received the 1.17 content update before treating the guide’s route as incorrect.

The sword is not on the corpse

Start from Liurnia Lake Shore and search northwest rather than returning to the Bellum Church merchant. Check nearby elevation changes and enemy groups; the pickup is easy to miss when moving quickly. If the corpse remains empty, confirm the add-on entitlement and whether another character in the same progression has already collected it.

The set is too heavy

Remove the shield temporarily and test the roll. If movement improves, either raise Endurance, use fewer armor pieces, or reserve the shield for encounters where blocking is worth the load. Dexterity does not require the full Silver Grooved outfit.

The reported rune total does not match your screen

Trust the live merchant display for your installed version. Record each item’s amount separately and keep enough runes for the most expensive remaining piece. The conflicting published totals are precisely why a fixed number should not be treated as authoritative.

For a continuing character, Bellum Church is the landmark for the merchant-sold armor and shield, while the Idus Sword is a separate northwest Liurnia Lake Shore pickup.
