The sequel has been announced for Steam, but the researched announcement gives no minimum or recommended CPU, GPU, memory, storage, operating-system, graphics API or frame-rate target. It also has no stated release date; a 7 June 2026 report said it was planned for the following year and could be wishlisted.
That means nobody can honestly confirm whether a particular PC will run the sequel, promise 1080p at 60 frames per second, or name a required graphics card. The figures often repeated online—an Intel i5-11600K, GeForce GTX 1080, 4 GB of RAM and 3 GB of storage—are the published requirements for the original 26 September 2023 game, not for the sequel.

What is officially known about the sequel
The sequel is a real, announced PC game rather than a released product with a hidden requirements page. The available announcement information describes more than 20 levels, including libraries, nightclubs, eldritch-horror lairs and suburbia. It also describes third-person shooting with slow motion. Those details establish the game’s scope and style, but they do not establish how demanding its renderer will be.

Because the sequel is unreleased, there is no public benchmark, review test, developer performance target or verified 1080p/60 FPS result to use as a buying threshold. Any article that turns the original game’s numbers into a guaranteed sequel recommendation is making an unsupported prediction.
El Paso, Elsewhere 2 requirements: the current status
| Requirement or setting | Status for the sequel | What you should do |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum CPU | Not published | Do not buy or upgrade around a guessed processor. |
| Recommended CPU | Not published | Wait for the official listing or a developer announcement. |
| Minimum GPU | Not published | No graphics card, including the original game’s GTX 1080, is confirmed. |
| Recommended GPU | Not published | There is no tested resolution or frame-rate target to match. |
| RAM | Not published | The original game’s 4 GB figure cannot be carried over. |
| Storage | Not published | The original 3 GB figure is not a sequel estimate. |
| Operating system and graphics API | Not published | Windows and DirectX requirements remain unconfirmed. |
| Graphics options | Not published | Do not assume the sequel has the original game’s controls or presets. |

The original game’s published PC requirements (a legacy reference only)
Steam’s published figures for El Paso, Elsewhere, released on 26 September 2023, are useful for identifying what the predecessor required. They are not minimum or recommended requirements for El Paso, Elsewhere 2.
| Original game requirement | Published value | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit | Applies to the 2023 original, not the announced sequel. |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-11600K or equivalent | A predecessor baseline; no sequel CPU class has been stated. |
| Memory | 4 GB RAM | A predecessor figure that should not be treated as a modern sequel recommendation. |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 or equivalent | The original game’s listed GPU; it is not a confirmed sequel GPU. |
| Graphics API | DirectX 11 | The original’s API requirement only. |
| Storage | 3 GB | The original’s listed space, not the sequel’s install size. |
These numbers can help you identify the scale of the first game, but they cannot answer “Can my PC run the sequel?” A sequel may change its engine, lighting, level streaming, asset quality, effects, shader workload or minimum operating-system support. Until its own listing supplies values, the only accurate answer is “unknown.”

Can your PC run El Paso, Elsewhere 2?
Use the following decision process rather than treating the GTX 1080 or i5-11600K as a prediction.
- Check whether you are evaluating the original or the sequel. If a requirements page lists Windows 10 64-bit, an i5-11600K, 4 GB RAM, a GTX 1080, DirectX 11 and 3 GB, it is describing the 2023 original unless the page explicitly identifies the sequel.
- Record your complete hardware. Note the exact CPU model, GPU model and video-memory amount, installed system RAM, Windows edition and free storage. “I have an i5” or “I have 8 GB” is not enough to compare models accurately.
- Check the official sequel listing again when it is updated. Compare your parts with the stated minimum and recommended entries, then check whether those entries identify a resolution and frame-rate target. A minimum specification normally describes playability at a lower or less demanding target; it does not promise high settings.
- Wait for independent tests before buying new hardware. A published requirement still does not reveal how consistently the game holds frames in its largest areas. A benchmark or review that states its resolution, preset, upscaling mode and frame-time behavior is more useful than a component name alone.
If you are deciding whether to upgrade today solely for the sequel, postpone the purchase unless the same upgrade also serves games you already own. No sequel-specific hardware threshold has been established.
What performance settings are confirmed?
None are confirmed for El Paso, Elsewhere 2 in the available material. There is no verified list of texture, shadow, volumetric, ray-tracing, anti-aliasing, upscaling, render-scale or frame-limit controls. Do not copy a settings guide for the original and label it as a sequel profile.

The original game’s controls are still useful as a reference for the kinds of options players may look for, but they are not a promise that the sequel will expose the same menu. A SteamDeckHQ review of the original lists field of view, look sensitivity, auto-reload, auto-get-up-after-dive, inverted camera and weapon-swap toggles. It also reports 16:10 support and full controller support for the original PC version. Those are predecessor features.

Original-game performance evidence: useful context, not a sequel benchmark
SteamDeckHQ reported that the original ran at roughly 53–55 FPS on Steam Deck without changes, with weaker results in larger areas. Its tested profiles kept the available settings enabled and reduced render resolution instead of simply turning every option off.
| Original Steam Deck profile | Render resolution | Frame-rate behavior | Other setting |
|---|---|---|---|
| Battery-oriented | 50% | 40 FPS cap | TDP 8 |
| Higher-quality | 70% | About 55 FPS, with occasional drops to 45–47 FPS in larger areas | Not stated |
These observations show why a frame-rate claim needs conditions attached. The figures came from testing the original on Steam Deck, not from a desktop PC and not from the sequel. They also show that lowering internal render resolution can be a practical compromise on a constrained device, while a fixed cap can make battery-oriented play more predictable.

CPU and stutter notes from the predecessor
In a Steam discussion, Strange Scaffold developer Xalavier Nelson Jr. wrote: “Yeah – turning off that High Quality Audio option gives you more CPU space, and if you have an older CPU, the graphics engine (which uses a lot of raytracing and volumetrics) will put you in a tough spot performance-wise.”
This is a troubleshooting note for the original game. It does not prove that the sequel has the same audio option, the same CPU behavior, ray-tracing implementation or volumetric effects. It does, however, explain why an apparently capable graphics card did not automatically eliminate performance problems in the predecessor: CPU headroom and expensive effects could both matter.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe same developer discussion contains reports of stutter and records a later overall optimization pass for the original. If you experience those symptoms in the first game, updating the game and testing the High Quality Audio option are reasonable predecessor-specific steps. They should not be presented as fixes for an unreleased sequel.

How to prepare without guessing
Make a hardware record
- Write down the exact CPU and GPU model names, not just the brand family.
- Record installed RAM and free space on the drive where you would install the game.
- Note whether you play at 16:9, 16:10, ultrawide or a handheld resolution, because a future target may distinguish desktop and handheld support.
- Keep Windows and graphics drivers current when the game launches, while remembering that current software does not compensate for hardware below an eventual minimum.
Separate minimum from recommended
When the official page appears, capture both columns. Ask what each one targets: resolution, preset, upscaling mode and frame rate. If those conditions are absent, treat the labels as broad guidance rather than a performance guarantee.
Test methodically after release
Use the game’s built-in display and graphics controls, change one demanding option at a time, and test a repeatable busy scene rather than an empty corridor. Record frame rate and stutter separately; an average number can hide short but disruptive frame-time spikes. If the sequel exposes render scaling or an upscaler, test it before lowering every quality option, because the visual trade-off may be different for each control.
What to check when the official requirements arrive
A useful future guide should answer more than “what GPU do I need?” Check each of these items on the sequel’s Steam page or in a Strange Scaffold announcement:
- Minimum and recommended CPU models, including whether the comparison is against desktop or laptop parts.
- Minimum and recommended GPU models and stated video-memory requirements.
- System RAM and installation space, including whether additional space is needed for updates.
- Supported Windows versions and graphics API.
- Target resolution and frame rate for each requirement tier.
- Whether ray tracing, volumetric effects, HDR, ultrawide or 16:10 output are optional or required.
- Render scaling, upscaling, frame-rate caps and other performance controls.
- Whether the same requirements apply to desktop PCs, Steam Deck and other handheld configurations.
- Patch notes or optimization updates that materially change performance.
Until those details are published, “requirements not yet announced” is the complete and technically honest answer. The original game’s numbers can orient you to the predecessor, while the Steam Deck profiles and developer comments explain possible tuning approaches for that game only; none can certify sequel compatibility.
